I have seven storage lockers rented in this facility on Hiawatha. I have never had a late payment and I do intend to continue using the facility. My complaint is with the maintenance of the automatic garage doors leading to the drive-in area. They are frequently broken and have at times remained open while the heat was running full blast during 0° weather. Additionally, the bathrooms are not clean.

I rented a cargo trailer to move to Grand Marais, Minnesota. Had a whole talk with the woman working there about Schroeder, MN as she had never heard of it as a drop off site. I move up to Grand Marais, arrive in Schroeder to drop off the trailer and the final paperwork had me returning the trailer to Minneapolis. The lady at the MPLS store had been quite nice to me, but now I'm feeling punked. How does the return location change from Schroeder to Minneapolis after that whole conversation...

The link you send customers to take photos of the equipment doesn't work. It wouldn't let me take the photos and it just sat there saying loading. So I went in and talked to the person who had helped me and asked if she wanted to see the photos I had taken she said that I was good the link sometimes doesn't work. So I left. So I would recommend that you have your IT people look into your link to see if they can get that fixed.

Everything was broken, dirty and not well kept. We ended up waiting almost a half hour just to rent a 10' U-Haul for 2 hours. Guy was nice but the system is dumb and needs two people at minimum.

I want to share a that your employee Prechez A. is always great to work with. She remains immensely calms while dealing with lines of impatient customers who are all in a rush to get moving. When I recently rented a trailer from your location, she was the only person working, the other person scheduled had called in and quit at the beginning of her shift. Despite that, she worked efficiently and calmly to make sure everyone was taken care of.

When I first came to the U-Haul the general manager was very rude he wasn’t helpful I booked a truck and he told us it’s been cancelled so he just hurried up and send us off so I had to book another U-Haul the guy was very nice and helpful he help us get a U-Haul

The staff are kind, helpful, and efficiently run a clean store. However, the company's shift to requiring insurance and the steep increases in per-mile costs have radically increased the price of even the cheapest rental vehicles. Fees and tax included, it would cost the same to pay a company a steep delivery fee, rather than do the moving work on one's own. Sure isn't how it used to be. I'll think long and hard before I consider renting another Uhaul.

My Uhaul was very dirty. I had to clean it as best as I could before I could load my items onto it. The cab smelled very heavily of patchouli and lightly of urine. I'm guessing the patchouli was meant to mask the urine but they combined in a pretty vile way, especially for crossing multiple states. The clothes I wore in the cab smelled like the Uhaul after I got to my new home. The padlock the attendant sold me did not fit my Uhaul, so I had to rush to an AutoZone at 9pm to lock up my stuff and wasted $14. Then the battery on the Uhaul died in front of my new home, thankfully after we had unloaded it. Glad I got the roadside assistance! All in all pretty negative experience.

I was given two keys, one for the truck and one for the padlock for the rear door. The padlock key was not for the padlock nor for anything else on the truck. I didn't realize this until I was far from where I rented, so I had to return to get a new key. I was compensated for miles driven but not for gas. No one told me about mobile after-hours checkout, and had I not seen the sign, I would have paid $20 extra. The saving grace of this place was the lone employee staffing the desk who was very responsive to a problem he did not create. I'll do my best not to go back if I can help it.

Make sure the vehicle being rented is not blocked in, equipped with dollies quoted,and better maintained. The vehicle assigned at initial check-in was blocked in by other Uhaul trucks. I was fortunate that the location had just opened and was reassigned a new vehicle. That vehicle had a Tire Pressure Sensor dashlight on constantly, so I had to check the tires to be sure it was road-worthy. Further, if my pickup time has been before the location opened, I would not have had access to the vehicle, nor been able to pick up the dolly I'd rented. All of this delayed my move.

The location had several trucks and trailers and the employee was helpful, however, the equipment was FAULTY and DANGEROUS. We rented a trailer and didn't realize that the latch was broken and didn't keep the door closed until another driver told us at a stoplight! Luckily nothing fell out and no one got hurt but this could have ended very differently! We were able to buy zip ties to close it, but that seems unsafe too. This should NEVER HAVE HAPPENED. Doesn't U-Haul complete safety inspections!? Shameful.

I've rented from Uhaul 3 times in the last 3 months. Every other experience was excellent. First , my truck was boxed in and unable to be used. Then, the next truck had a check engine light on and looked like someone spilled a gallon of paint in the back. The next truck license plate didn't match up with the online checkout app and the radio and back brake light didn't work. When I went back in the office, he asked "what's wrong this time?" I was told not to use the online checkout app because he would have to check the license plates. Not a good experience and certainly would not recommend that location.

The employee who helped me (prechez, I think) was very kind and helpful despite being in what seemed to be a stressful situation as the only employee at a fairly busy location. Service could be improved by making sure that there are at least two employees available to help customers with their moving needs!

The clerk was friendly and efficient. The unit we rented arrived while I was checked in, so there was little to no inspection done. Literally unhooked from the prior renter and hooked to our vehicle. Long term maintenance problem with tires, which were set at 60 lbs on 32 lbs max pressure tires, long enough to bald the center of the tires. I did not recognize this until after beginning our trip and called road assistance to replace the tires. The repair person stated this confusion between differing tire pressures is unfortunately not uncommon. For the tires to be as worn as they were, they were over inflated for thousands of miles prior to our trip.

I reserved a cargo van online. The ones with the higher ceilings. I was given a regular van. I assumed it had the same clearance. It wasn't until I got to my destination that I realized it did not have the same measurements. This spent an extra trip which cost me time and of course money since all the mileage is charged separately. I also paid for furniture pads and they were not in the van. I didn't notice that before we left the location. Note that the online check-in still requires you to go in to the office to get the key. You might have to go in twice if the supplemental materials you requested online, eg. furniture pads are not present.

The long walk to my truck was unexpected, and it wasn't clear which was my rental once I got there. I got differing instructions about how to retrieve my extra items, and they were out of dollys by the time I returned so I had to come a third time. Everyone was really kind, but fixing these miscommunications would make future moves less stressful.

Why do online check in if it doesn't work? Got all checked in, put in my card info, my ID, etc, went to pick up my truck and had to spend excessive time waiting inside for someone to help me so they could essentially re-do the online check in. Huge waste of time and a huge nuisance to my day.

My truck add 3/4, one foot tank of gas. I made staff, I wear. They said, no problem. When I brought the truck back, I completely filled it up. I made this staff aware that I filled up the tank,They say I will be reimbursed the difference,.looking at my email received doesn't appear to be so.

The professional office staff answered all my questions with good details. While driving a U-Haul Cargo Van, the only question I didn't ask was what to do when on toll roads? Whenever possible, I paid cash at toll booths. Sometimes I did not see a way to pay cash? U-Haul might ask if a customer is going to drive a few toll highways?

Lights where out , had to drive there and wait there an hour to pay my bill because my card was stolen , they didn’t wanna remove any late fees and where rude and very unprofessional

Over the two month period that I used this storage unit at this location everything was great but there are some areas that need some work. While I recall the most excellent customer service I had seen from Prechez, I can't speak too well of several other experiences at this location, where the encounters were either off-putting or awkward. There was not a sense of urgency or interest, and it felt quite like I was bothering some of them or on the verge of being ignored when showing up. This was the experience every single time going into the office, except for the move-in and the close out visits. There is the matter the burglar alarm going off with painful frequency during the last two days that I was moving out. I have no idea how long that had been going on as I visited rarely, but it was quite painful to experience. I asked the door repair men who were there to fix the main storage entrance door, and they said it goes off with some regularity due to activities of the janitor or something to that effect. The close-out itself was smooth in the office, however. The gentleman there was courteous and professional. Were it not for these issues I would have given the same 5-star review I had given moving in. I missed seeing Prechez in the office, she is quite an asset to the front desk!

Prices are quite high and long term storage would not be an option at current rates in comparison to other facilities, but this facility is very clean. The temp control and loading bay were great for moving during the winter. I had difficulty understanding the check-in and check-out process to ensure I wasn't denied access on my next visit. By the time I finished unloading, I realized it was the disarm and arm panel. Phrasing could be aligned/cohesive with the rule board to ensure a better understanding of that process.

The day we moved in, the person was very helpful and working alone. They were very pleasant and took the time to explain everything. The day we came back and rented the truck, not so much. I felt like the guy didn't want to be there. I asked for a specific truck, but received the wrong one. When I went back in, he told me I didn't ask for the correct truck, but would fix it, I guess out of the kindness of his heart. The day we returned the truck, the lady was busy on her phone and seemed annoyed that I interrupted her texting. The place is super clean and organized, with a lot of trucks.

Yes the facility was clean and well maintained but there's no communication when you first sign up everything is automated and the expectations are not clear so for that reason I'm going to give it an average rating

The only issue was that it took multiple visits to the office to gain access to our unit. We reserved online and got an entry code and checked in at the office. However, the code did not work and we had to go back to the office. When we went back to the unit a week later the new access code and card did not work either. We had to go back into the office and do the whole rental process again.

I was at the facility for about an hour before we started moving anything. There was a customer in line ahead of me that reserved the truck but the uhaul employee couldn't find the key. That took a long time and there were no other employees to help me get checked in. Once I got checked in, the storage unit I was given was already taken. I had to walk back and get another one. It wasn't the employees fault any of this happened, she did everything she could in her control. But during a time like moving across the country and things can get stressful, this did add on to a bit of frustration.

The staff and facility here are a mess. People don't know how to register people for units, and when you pull in parked trucks for rent are blocking the loading area.

Incredibly clean and well maintained, secure yet easily accessible, and the indoor loading/unloading area made a huge difference in our ease of use. Will only use your facility, going forward!

The reason I rated 'Average' is that the staff didn't ensure I received a security access card. Let me explain: we were among the first customers to move into our unit. The access system wasn't fully installed, so U-Haul gave us an access code instead of a card, which worked fine. However, once the access cards were ready for use, U-Haul forgot to notify us, causing confusion. According to U-Haul's system, I had moved out on May 28, 2024 (which I didn't authorize), with a $0 balance. Consequently, the staff removed our lock and replaced it, which prevented us from accessing our unit. We had to drive back home, 18 miles away. After calling the manager, he resolved the issue, and everything was fine. U-Haul's mistake was not giving our case special attention, knowing we would eventually need access to our storage unit. There was no phone call or email-NOT GOOD! On a positive note, the place is very clean, and we like the new security system. The customer service treated us very well.

I've used this location for storage and truck rental. No complaints - the people are always fantastic to work with. Super friendly and helpful. Will definitely be renting a truck from time to time from them and will recommend their storage facility.

The system completely missed my reservation for a unit on the 1st floor, and the staff had to give me a unit on the 5th floor along with the elevated rate I was forced to pay for the change. I also reserved a trailer that was not provided by this location, forcing me to go to Bloomington for a trailer that I would have had to pay twice as much for had I not canceled that reservation entirely. The U-Haul staff at both locations were great, answering all my questions promptly and professionally, but I cannot and will not recommend U-Haul as a whole. The convenience of your facilities and the kindness of your staff are no longer worth the deceptive, underhanded practices behind your business, and as soon as I move out of my unit, I will never be working with you again.

Arming situation was a bit hard to understand. Would be great to have a sign indicating the order of operations for both entry and departure. Also please address the alarm situation. It went off during my move-in and since the entry disarming procedure wasn't entirely straightforward I thought I had set it off!!
