I wasn’t bothered by the dirty van it got the job done customer service at check in was outstanding minus poor communication. My issue is billing related. I provided a debit card and was advised of the authorization but was told it would go back on my card within so many businesses days. I called to check status today and was told that a checks in the mail?!?! 1 seriously money was held on my debit and a check was issued? 2 my bank is no where near where I am so I can’t deposit this check. 3 because I’m being sent a check I have a direct payment that’s going to overdraw my account tomorrow and I’ll be looking at over $100 in fees I would like to know why this happened

While this location was very helpful and positive, I am actually writing you about your U-Haul store in Champaign, IL, store #760043. On June 16, 2019, I made a phone reservation for a car dolly. In speaking with the young man on the phone, we determined only the car dolly would work for my needs due to tow limit of my 2013 Ford Explorer Sport. All the other car carriers were too heavy for my Ford, plus the car I would be towing. On June 28th, I arrived at the Champaign, IL store (#760043) at 10:50 a.m., ten minutes before my 11:00 a.m. pick up time. I was told by a very nice young man that my reservation had been switched from a tow dolly to a larger 4 wheels up car transport. The only dolly they had was broken down. I advised the man and then women employee, who were very nice, and advised them my Ford can't tow that large of a trailer and I needed the car dolly, like I requested on my reservation. After fiddling with the computer and trying to locate another car dolly near us, I was then told they tow dolly had just broken down yesterday but it is fixed now. My problems were solved, or so I thought. I asked why I had been told the car dolly was broken down when I came in and we were joined by the general manager of the store, JAMES EDWARDS. Edwards stated the dolly just broke down yesterday but it has been fixed now. I was still in a great mood as the problem had been solved. Mind you, I needed the dolly to drive to St. Louis, where I was towing my 80 year old father's car and moving him and my parents' pets back to Champaign, to be closer to family. As we were preparing to go out and hook up the trailer, EDWARDS was looking at his computer and stated I can't tow any of the car haulers with my Ford. He stated this was due to a company policy, related to the Firestone tire debacle a decade earlier. I advised EDWARDS my Ford has Michelin tires and is in great shape. EDWARDS, being very condescending with his tone, stated it does not matter. I was stunned and asked EDWARDS why all the other employees I spoke with at his shop did not mention anything about my Ford being excluded from towing any car haulers and he stated smugly, he did not know. Furious, I told them to cancel my reservation and turned to leave the business. From behind me, I head EDWARDS say "have a nice day." This was clearly an attempt by him to make me angrier and was stated in a very condescending way. I yelled back, still walking towards the exit, "fuck you!" EDWARDS again said "have a nice day." I then repeated my previous statement and left the store. I called around and located a car dolly at you U-Haul facility in Springfield, IL (Store #760041). I spoke to a very nice young man on the phone and he stated the Ford restrictions only apply to Fords made before 2011. He stated my 2013 Ford was no problem and I completed this reservation. Your website would not bring up that location when I tried to book it online. Then when I chose a different location I couldn't get through it because it kept insisting I add boxes, dollies, blankets.

The back of the U-Haul was dirty with lots of leaves and dirt, so I had to sweep it out myself. I took a pic and showed it to the associate when I brought the truck back that day. The associate acted like I was lying so I showed him the pics which had the time stamp on the pic and the date. The associate then gave me a .80 discount off my total and said that he shouldn't done that!!! At this location, I normally get really good service!!!!

Was not informed by agent renting the equipment to me of the digital walkaround. When I returned the equipment, the agent found a scuff mark on the truck that he said was not on digital walkaround prior to my rental. He told me I would need to talk to the manager, I called and requested to speak with manager. I was told he was not available but he would call me back later that day or the next morning. He did not call. I was charged for the damage without any further opportunity to discuss the charge with the manager. Very poor customer service.

My only concern was when dropping off the van late at night. Where I was asked to park my car, was not near the drop off location nor was it as well lite as the rest of the parking lot. Which made me uncomfortable, since there were three guys hanging around the parking lot...

Make sure green tie locks on equipment before truck leaves store. I was charged $7 for dolly rental that we did not use (did not need) because one was missing. I know it was not there because we moved the dolly a bit to make room. Had it fallen off it would have been in the truck. I did not argue with the employee because she was doing her job but I wondered if this was a scam...

Was not given the trailer for the same number of days as the Truck and no one said hey this is due back a different day. That is ridiculous. I was charged an extra day for the trailer. That is just a crazy idea that I would make a trip while moving to a Uhaul just to drop off the trailer. Why not make them due back on the same day?

I had a question about the total bill, was told to call back in the morning and talk to the manager. I called shortly after 8:00, was on hold for almost 20 minutes and no one picked up the phone. Left a message on the managers cell phone to please call. NO call back received. Tried the office number again several hours later, took almost 12 minutes for someone to pick up. Manager was busy but the individual took my number and information and said the manager would call me back. Have never received a call. The equipment was fine but very poor customer service by the manager!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I highly recommend that you run that 20' box truck thru the mechanic. It CLUNKs when shifting into reverse or forward. Somewhere in the rear end. It feels wobbly driving down the road, not really too safe. But that is my opinion. I did think that the engine seemed to really STRAIN as I accelerated so I never took it over 60. In my opinion, it would behoove you to take it in for a lube, oil change and whatever they find!

Reserved rental for three days. I was informed if i brought it back early i would be charged per the 24 hour units i used the trailer. Returned the trailer in under 48 hours, but was charged for three days. When I attempted to contact through email, received no response. Called in to rectify the situation and was unable to get through to a representative.

After I returned the truck on Friday the 3rd, I found that I had forgotten a pair of table legs in the truck, I called the store to inquire about it. They informed me that they have not seen it, I was not satisfied and wanted to check the truck. On arrival the customer representative told me that he had seen it and then they have thrown them away. First of all why didn't they told me this when I called and second why didn't they call me when they found stuff.

Twice in two weeks I was chargers flex fuel charge but I returned truck with full tank of gas. When I noticed it and went in the owner/mgr took both fees off. He said invoice showed the fuel was returned FULL! Then I asked to see before and after pics of the scratch and dent that I was charged for ($400.00 -deductible=$150.00.). He said he would send them to my email. Have not received them. If they can't get the full tank of fuel charges (only drove 62/63 miles on both rentals) correct I don't trust the scratch and dent. Where are the pics??!! I have rented uhauls for 35 years!! I wonder how many business/corporate accounts have been wrongly charged fuel charges/scratch/dent charges??? John Fulgenzi 217-971-7517

When returning the truck staff did not go over the truck with me as far as mileage or anything. I was charged for 40 miles of use yet did not use all 40 miles. Had to wait and eventually look for the employee to return truck. He simply took the key and went back tondo what lever it was he was doing

Improve the signage on the return route by putting an arrowed sign on the side of the building the driver sees when he enters the lot from 11th street. Lots of people are better than me at seeing which way to turn. But I am one of those people for whom things cannot be too obvious. The way it is set up now I didn't really see the signs clearly until I turned around and headed back toward the entrance.

The customer service from the employee's went above and beyond. I needed last minute installation of a hitch, it was in stock and they were able to install within a couple of hours. They hooked up the trailer and we were good to go, I would like to thank everyone who help us in a pinch. Would highly recommend the Stevenson Drive location in Springfield Illinois. Michelle Marie

Used the app to do a “truck share” rental, but it told me the wrong place in the parking lot to look for the truck. I wandered and wandered, tried calling the number in the app with no answer, and only found the truck when I happened to run into in employee who was leaving — well after closing time — and told me where to look. (Kudos to the employees — in fact two of them in their way out separately told me where to look.) The area highlighted on the map on the web interface is not where the “truck share” vehicles are kept.

They are consistently excellent! They take the extra time to make sure that you are "Ready to Go"! The only problem was the middle computer station. It kept locking up to the point that on two occasions we had to move to another station and re-do the whole process. Not the staffs fault. Those people are truly exceptional!
