when someone reserves a truck with a 1 way trip, there's going to be complex logistics in that person's schedule for that day. Changing the reservation to a round trip, and changing times and dropoff locations sporadically really messes up a plan and makes things more costly. For the love of god, please, if you take the reservation, keep the reservation. If you cannot keep the reservation, don't take the reservation. My rental was changed from 1 way to round trip with 5 changes in pickup and dropoff locations. That's not acceptable.Larry B.

The truck was in the far lot. There was some garbage in the back of the truck. The fuel gauge was at a 1/16 of a tank. Disappointing that before you can even start your move you have to find a station to fill the tank.Brian H.

Checked in online and still had to wait 46 mins in line for a tow dolly trailer. While pulling the trailer a 3' metal cover fell off in traffic and looks like it only had 1-2 screws holding it on.Jason C.

For me, there was not much more that could have been done. I tried to upgrade to a bigger truck a day or 2 before my rental date, but there was nothing available. I was impressed how hard they tried to find me a truck. But no luck. As it turned out the 10' and 3 pick up trucks plus an SUV did the trick. Dear U-Haul Experience Personnel My recent rental of a 4x8 enclosed trailer had the follow experience. During my return after picking up a futon and a small trunk. Very light load. In the righthand lane of highway 407 just east of the 412 the righthand side trailer tire had a blowout. Was able to the safely of to the shoulder of the highway. The time was about 7:45pm on Sunday May 8,2022. Someone from roadside assistance answer in about ten minutes and said they would send help to fix the tire. Very pleasant and caring person on the phone. At 8:55 pm this text came in 20 HOURS TORONTO TOWING INC is on the way with an ETA of 90 minutes. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. My reply was Thank you I will be checking in once the ETA expires to ensure they have arrived- please let me know if they show up before then. Yes thank you While waiting for help i called my daughter to come and get my wife and take her home as waiting 90 minute was going to be to long for her to wait and she had work in the morning. My daughter showed up at 9:40 pm. At 10:00 pm the tow truck from Toronto towing arrived. Trailer was un hitched and loaded onto the flatbed tow truck. Now head to the location that the roadside assistance people pick to have the tire repaired. They are here. They brought the wrong tire and can get the right one until tomorrow. Please call me The roadside people called and i told them that Kal Tire brought the wrong size tire. They brought a 14 inch tire but the tires on the trailer were 13 inch. I was told the they did not have the right size tire in stock but could get one by tomorrow and that they would be back. Roadside person said they would get back to with a solution. While waiting Kal Tire called me and blamed me for give them the wrong size tire information. I had nothing to do with telling Kal Tire anything and was not pleased that they were calling me personally trying to lay blame. At 11:04 i got the following text JIMS TOWING SERVICE is on the way with an ETA of 180 minutes. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Customer Time: 11:04AM Ok thank you At 12:00pm the tow truck was loaded and the trailer was off to the Taunton Road Uhaul center were i rented it from. I have been a very loyal customer with Uhaul and have never have a problem before with your equipment. I feel that that time to resolve the blown tire was way beyond reasonable from a customer point of view, From approx 8:00 pm on a Sunday until the trailer was final gone from my position at noon on Monday was 16 hours to resolve the problem. No offer of compensation has been offered for my inconvenience. I thought maybe the rental fee would be refunded but was not and maybe my next couple of rentals would be complementary. Communication between the central contact centre and the online booking tool with the actual location was horrendous. I spent too much time calling back the location only to be bounced back to the central number whose reps would provide conflicting info to that of the location, which caused unnecessary confusion and time wasted on the phone. The service from the people that worked at the location was good enough - the rep at the front desk was doing his best to service people as efficiently as possible where he was clearly understaffed as the only person working (the line was long). Unfortunately, the trailer we rented smelled extremely awful, like cat urine. We had to spray the inside with a bacterial spray to neutralize the smell, and leave the trailer door open for the evening to air it out as best we could. The odour saturated the moving blankets we used - thankfully, not our furnishings.Brian S.

CHECK-IN: Poor. I had to wait to be served even though I had checked in online with driver's license uploaded. The check-in process should be much more automated with something like a check-in KIOSK. EQUIPMENT - Poor: The trailer hitch mechanism was broken and I had to wait for it to be replaced. PEOPLE - the front desk was ok. The outdoor service guys were very friendly and worked quickly. Nothing was needed with the truck to improve for the next customer, checking in and picking up our truck went smoothly but I would recommend having more then one employee work g when opening on Saturday mornings as the li rip off people waiting to get their keys for there reservations was long and the person was their by herself and had to operate all 3 computers because the original one she was on was acting up and very slow to process things.Kevin J.

We did a mobile check in and pick up before the store was open. Smooth experience, except that I ordered 24 furniture pads, a utility dolly, and a furniture dolly. However when we got the truck, there were only 6 pads and a utility dolly in it. I asked about it when I dropped the truck off, and the guy said â€œoh you should have come to tell someone before you left the lot with it.â€ But the store wasn't open yet, so there was no one to tell or to have this corrected. I am just being honest. I needed to rent a utility trailer to move an ATV and some other items from a house my Mom had sold. Life has been hectic as of late and with the unfortunate passing of my father there was some things that needed done. I had reserved the trailer online for 9:30 a.m. that way I could pick it up in the morning and get some stuff moved before my family and I spent some time together and reminisced about the memories we shared with our father growing up in the house we were leaving. Anyway I shared that because I'm sure we all have had moments like this and companies need to know that not only do customers help grow and maintain there businesses but we have an array of situations going on in our lives and sometimes count on companies to value our time as much as we value their services. I should note that the employees were nice and respectful but for some reason I spent 2,5 hours at that location to pickup a utility trailer that I had reserved online. (I am not exaggerating) Camera's would prove it if someone wanted to have a look into it lol. Anyway just to let you know I am a quiet person when it comes to long lines and choose to suffer in silence where some as I'm sure you have seen from time to time are very upfront about their displeasure in the employee's. Which I do not agree with . There boss can address them if necessary. Anyway I waited in the line for approximately 1,5 hours to complete the rental contract and when it was my turn I showed the employee my reservation and they said yes I see it here, although we don't have any of those trailers available. I wasn't shocked as I was anticipating that response from them as that would be exactly my luck. So I said but I have a reservation and to be honest I just said it knowing it wouldn't change anything. I just wanted to point out the obvious and have that Jerry Seinfeld moment. So after a pause the employee searched and tried to find an alternative trailer that had the measurements necessary to fit the ATV . So they found one , printed out the paperwork and almost 2 hours later off to get my trailer I go. Oh but wait, the guys in the back are having a difficult time locating the trailer and then it dawns on them that trailer isn't there , it's off being rewired so it's not available. The clock still ticking and I'm suffering in silence not solely because of the problem with the reservation and trailer availability and slow lineup in the very cold windy day but also because I dropped a sheet of 3/4" plywood on my foot the night before preparing for the move and literally broke my toe , which is extremely swollen and bruised badly. Which as I stated before that we all have things going on in our lives which companies and employees tend to take for granted. My mom is extremely saddened and lost , stressed , confused and scared and I just want to get things done at her house for her and make sure to take some of the stress away so she can focus on herself and take time to grieve. I'm now going to be late for our planned family gathering . Anyway After some phone calls and getting exact measurements of the cargo we were finally able to leave U-Haul with a utility trailer. Everything else went as planned but because of the morning delay picking up the trailer I wasn't able to get the trailer back during store hours and the return process on my phone wouldn't allow me to proceed without creating an account. Which I didn't want to do as I was pretty sure I would never use their services again. After another literally hour in the parking lot online and on hold for 35 minutes trying to complete the return contract without creating an account for the principle of it all , I finally gave in created an account and finished the transaction. Seriously though whether you believe it or not I am so respectful and patient when it comes to retail. I recognize that we are all equal and no one deserves to be harassed or belittled for doing their jobs. I have been witness to some very unreasonable people towards employees and it's disappointing. I had left the back end with soil because one of the plants had tipped over on the move. I asked for a broom so that I could clean it up. The attendant insured me that he would take care of it. Check your trucks before sending them out. The moulding for the wind shy was flapping in the wind and there was a horrible squealing noise that I had to listen to for 3,5 hours. Plus the rack they left someone else's trash in the vehicle that I had to dispose of.Judy L.

I make a reservation two weeks in advance for a 26 foot truck. They didn't have any 26 foot so I ended up with a 20 ft that I got from Whitby. I am moving out of a 5 bedroom house and that was very inconvenient as we have to make multiple trips which takes longer. On top of that I rented a storage and was denied access at mins after 7pm. I called customer service they can't help. I got the managers number no answer. I am still stuck at m house with the truck full of my stuff because no access to the storage that I paid for.very disappointed and I have to close the deal on my house today November 1st at 11:30, still stuck with a truck load in the driveway and I am not finish moving my stuff because of this. Very friendly, helpful staff. It was a pleasant experience!! Natalie was very helpful. Unloaded my truck and trailer by myself, I was exhausted at the end and needed assistance with my 55' TV. She didn't hesitate and helped me! I was so grateful for her help. She was friendly and gave me excellent customer service, along with the other gentleman who helped unhitch my trailer and inspect the truck. I called this location prior to booking the storage unit to confirm that I would qualify for the first month free and was told I would if I presented a reservation number for my uhaul truck rental. I also called the Ajax location prior to, as that one was closer to me, but they confirmed they aren't running this promotion so I booked with this location instead. When I showed up at the counter to check-in I was declined the one month free and was told to pay the first month immediately. I had no choice as I was paying movers by the hour and we had already showed up at the location! So I paid but I will be putting in a complaint with head office and the better business bureau. Also, upon moving into the storage facility, I witnessed another storage unit owner going through their unit and laughing as a mouse ran out of one of the boxes. The storage unit was packed with junk so it comes as no surprise it would be harbouring rodents! I booked on line and got the confirmation number as well for 15 x 10 x 8 storage starting January 1st 2021 but when I went on January 2nd to move my items, girl at the desk said that it's not available and offered me 10 x 10 x 8 and she said that is the only available. Very expensive compared to other places. Only took it for the free month plus the fact all the other places were closed for the holiday weekend. It was also convenient as I had to return the truck. It took forever to do the paperwork though considering I had done it on the phone when I reserved it. This was the worse uhaul service I have ever received being a long time valued Uhaul customer. Brendon the staff at Oshawa location was not helpful but extremely rude. Even after having reserved a 10x15 storage at Oshawa location two weeks in advance of Apr 16, 2020, the Oshawa location did not have a unit. I had to go back and forth 1,5 hours due to Brandons incompetency. Furthermore, he insulted us in front of the other customers and kicked us out of the store. I will be escalating this to the top of Uhaul and cbc news channel. Additionally, this is the last time I'm doing business with Uhaul. I'll be also advising friends and family to not conduct business with any Uhaul location. There were crack users and meth dealers in the halls, people sleeping by my unit. This place was terrifying and no security. The company (a guy who worked there even found it amusing) he laughed and said ya look at all the crackheads..... I'm shocked and disappointed by this. My unit was broken into despite being sold a lock that " no one could breach" When I was called to be informed of this break in, i was told that my unit door was open and the unit was empty, the caller said " I assume you or a member of your family has emptied the unit".
