The truck was in good condition but very high mileage (105K) which felt a bit worrisome. But it drive fine, no issues, but a longer trip would have brought me some concern. At the U-Haul site, the General Manager was very help and professional and his team was also very friendly and helpful. It's a busy spot so parking was a challenge. I have two storage units at the location which have been good. The fire / security alarm goes off randomly (very annoying) and the front elevator is not reliable. The bay of the truck was extremely dirty. Almost as if someone had hauled some type of earth material back there. We cleaned it ourselves and kept going because I hadn't checked before leaving the lot.DEVON L.

I reserved a 15' truck, furniture cart and dolly for my move but when i got the truck there was no dolly or furniture cart. I informed the staff about the situation and they were helpful enough...they couldn't find a dolly but did find a furniture cart. Which is no help with stairs. We ended up buying a new dolly from the home depot. Also the truck had less than a quater tank of gas when i picked it up. So i had to fuel it before the move and when i returned it, which was another unexpected expense. I got my email reciept and saw that i was still charged for a dolly and gas even though i returned it with more gas than when i got it. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful this location just seems under equipped.Marcus V.

I just got my storage unit yesterday, no one told me that after hours the sliding door doesn't work! That was very inconvenient especially that multiple people were using the one door. Elevator access was horrible, it took multiple times scanning my card for the elevator to actually do anything. My wife was stuck for 15min at one point as someone called it up to 5th floor and she was not able to get back down. There was a shortage of carts!!!! And I was told by someone there were a bunch on 5th floor but I couldn't get up there so that was useless. I tried asking the supervisor/manager before she left for the day to get more carts but she was not helpful at all! When my friend moved in things were smooth. That's what attracted me to choose this site. But when getting my unit. It took a lot time locate a 10x10x9. First was still filled with some else stuff and locked. Second unit had volume in the middle not suitable since paying that space I can't use. Third was two 5x10 one had a column kinda goes back to the second unit ( I needed every inch of space. Finally found two usable units a few feet from each other. The building is not clean whatsoever. Floors and units are covered in dust and dirt. I had a small 5x8 unit and had 10 % off the space taken up by a structural beam. The floors in the entire building aren't level and are made of uneven bricks/tile which makes rolling the dollies difficult. They were testing the fire alarm while I was moving out and it disabled the elevators. Not a huge deal but frustrating when I only rented a truck for a few hours.Ryan S. | Expérience générale

The GM (Brandon)was very rude. He told us "I'm out & im done talking to y'all" and hung up… we could not get in our unit due to staff giving us the wrong unit number. We had to look at a picture we took to see that the staff gave us the wrong unit number. Compared to other storage places I have used, there is nothing to be improved upon. I only voiced my facility improvement suggestions (fixing the check-in check-out card reader system, and adding a walkway outside of the building between the dock and customer service sides of the building) in my prior review because U-haul seems to be of a high enough caliber that they could actually act on them without suffering some great loss in profit. Adding the walkway might actually save thousands or tens of thousands in future claims. Outside of those minor suggestions pertaining to the facility, great experience. Very competitively priced storage, great customer service at that location, and the convenient on site availability the moving vehicles and equipment one tends to think of when you hear or see U-Haul.STEPHON H. | Expérience générale
In regard to safety at the facility, there is not much of a separation between walkway and driveway. This creates a situation where customers have to walk up and through driveways in order to access the dock. Creating a walkway outside between the dock side of the building and the customer service side of the building would be a welcomed Improvement to your non-athletic customers who don't particularly care to hop over a fence. In regard to the security of the place, it's awesome. The only setback I see there is your card readers for checking in and out and on the elevators more often than not, do not read my card. This means when checking in and out of the building I may have to swipe fifteen or Twenty times before it actually recognizes my card. The inconvenience of this is Multiplied significantly when your on the elevator with multiple people. But under no circumstance am I suggesting to do away with that security system. It should be fixed, not scrapped.STEPHON H.

I was disappointed by this experience. As noted during my inspection, the van had an unpleasant odor. it was also dented/damaged in several places. The worst part of all of this was that the back passenger side turn signal was not working. I was not notified of this, and it put me in danger while driving. Because of this issue, a minor accident occurred, though the van does not seem to have been damaged. The oncoming driver did not see my flashers on (in a loading zone) and accelerated, hitting the van. The reason that they did not see them is because the passenger side tail flasher was broken, which I didn't know. I am dismayed at the fact that I was provided a broken vehicle with a bad scent in it. I was unable to complete my move because I had to return the Uhaul, which added considerable stress and upset to my day. Also, this uhaul location had several people sort of just 'hanging out' around the premises. While I was getting my van ready, a man started urinating in the parking lot near the fence a yard away from me. There was garbage on the ground. It was disgusting, upsetting, and disappointing. It was the worst Uhaul center I have ever been to . I have lived all over America.Michael E.

It is not the location, it is the overall structure of U-Haul business approach. Your terms of service are egregious and slanted towards U-Haul, and very much against customer. I had a registration appointment at 11am and was there ON TIME. At the counter there was ONLY 1 clerk and he was bantering with a couple, with loud laughter, and very personal comments. Pronounced loudly and with no hesitation!!!! Very unprofessional. Finally 2 other reps showed up and long line of customers started to move. After almost 35 minutes, my term came up. That is when I learned that I better make sure to bring truck back EXACTLY with the same amount of fuel, or I would be charged 30,00 $ fee and 4,50 $ per gallon for shortage. Since I returned truck after 5pm, I read text on my phone that I need to follow all the finalization steps, or be charged 20,00 $ "convenience fee? Process was tedious, I had to take multiple images and it was very inconvenient and burdensome. I decided to give uhaul my present, by filling full tank of gas, instead of 1/2 Obviously uhaul is desperate for extra revenue, regardless of how to obtain it, from the customer. Not necessarily by earning it, but by penalizing, mostly unaware customers and taking advantage of them after long day moving their belongings or shipment. As a businessman for many years, I call this cheap attitude: penny wise and dollar foolish Terrible business attitude.LEONARD V.

The staff cost me money because they gave me a storage unit with a lock twise .I had a crew that was getting paid by the hour and all that back and forth to get a storage unit was time consuming. Facility is constructed in a ways where it is difficult to get stuff in and out of storage. That's obvious. Not enough workers there so people are always standing in line. Constantly getting calls from UHaul about billing but I have not received one bill from them so it feels like they are deliberately increasing debt payments to screw you. I moved out in April which is documented. I called U-Haul so many times after that because I kept reviving emails after I moved out. On the day I moved out I discussed that with the staff at this location in April, he tried to convince me to stay but the rent was too high and I have a cheaper storage unit somewhere else for my business. Some how they ignored that and still tried to continue to charge me after moving out. They are aware that that there is nothing in the unit or a lock on the unit since April. They're f*cking crooks and the manager Donovan looks like a stoner thats why he couldn't read all the emails that customer service sent him about me moving out the unit along with his staffs notes.Jasmine H. | Expérience générale

I rented a 10 ft Moving Truck from the Edgewater Park location last Saturday (June 26, 2021). I must rate the service as poor because they charged my bank card 3 times resulting in an over charge of 300 $+. My Bank is still resolving the error. The process I had to go through to get receive a U-Haul after I had already booked it days in advance was ridiculous. I called to confirm the day before that my U-Haul will be ready at the Germantown Avenue location and they confirmed it would as long as someone would bring it back at 8 AM like I asked. Then the next day it's not ready my reservation has changed to 10 AM pick up and I called to confirm and the man who answered the phone told me that I had to call back at 10:30 or 11 because the U-Haul manager wasn't in. This is well past my appointment for the U-Haul. Then once I talked to him he told me that it wasn't going to be ready until like one or two maybe if the person brought it back which was not applicable for my timeline. After calling to around multiple places someone finally gave me schedulingâ€˜s number to contact where they set me up with a place to go get one at 11. Then after driving 30 minutes to this new location I was able to get a U-Haul after speaking with them for another 30 minutes since the person in scheduling made the appointment for the wrong time. Your system needs to not double book people and be up to dateMELISSA R.
The first truck provided had a fully flat tire that was not serviced beforehand. When I mentioned the flat, the person sent to try to fix the flat, they moved the truck to the service zone and stood around playing on their phone for about ten minutes. They then disappeared for another twenty minutes before returning to notify me they were providing me with another truck. Upon inspection of that truck, we discovered the back to be muddy because it also hadn't been serviced. All in all, it was a frustrating start to a long day of moving, but the employees were courteous and ultimately helpful. UHaul is convenient and well priced, I just do not intend to go to this location again.JOSHUA H.

The only thing that I did not like is My online price for my unit was 49,99 $ plus tax for a 5×5. They did not honor it. I was charged 54,99 $ plus text. I was told that they didn't know why the website does that. Then I was told the 54,99 $ was the tax but my monthly fee on my contract is 59 $that's a lot of tax. As soon as I am able I will be moving my things to the original company I had a reservation. I changed changed it because of the Uhaul price I got online and it was easier to unload my Ubox. I usually use uhaul on Allegheny Ave and loved everything as soon I I used Allegheny west I had problems over and over and when I came to clean out my storage they had a lock on it that wasn't supposed to be there. The girl apologize to me and I cleaned out the storage turned in the key and lock and the next month I get a bill saying I'm late and i owe all these late fees when I closed my account the month before. Aljon was a very friendly and pleasant young man who assisted me on Sunday, May 9, 2021 (Mothers Day). He went over and beyond to make certain I found the storage unit and did it with a smile. But this is not my first visit to this site. I currently and began using this facility to store my son's items. I have found all the employees who have assisted me to be very friendly, helpful, and conduct themselves very professionally even under very busy and stressful situations. Unfortunately, I wish that while I am filling out this comment form that I could reach Brian Phillips the Field Manager of the Philadelphia Area, and make a comment about the U-Haul Facility on 4663 Stenton Avenue/Ming Storage. I am very disappointed with the way business is handled over there; very sketchy with handling their affairs of over-charging, and the building storage definitely needs a total overhaul of a makeover. The floors are so flimsy that it makes you feel like you might fall through them the moment you step on the floors. I have had a couple of bad experiences with them and I feel that it isn't a good reputation of what U-Haul represents. This is the second time I had to escalate an issue to Mr. Phillips and he had to authorize a refund for this place trying to rip me off. First, the storage on January 9, 2021, and then because there wasn't an available van for moving at 2801 Hunting Park the customer service told me the closest was 4663 Stenton. I figured that my first experience in January was enough, but to just pick up a van couldn't be too bad...but oh, it was. When I returned the van, children were at the front desk playing to the computer and handling my business and the manager who took care of me in the first place was nowhere to be found and the children have the phone to contact him as if they were a liaison to doing business with me. Only to find out the next day I was overcharged for my mileage and the original order that I put in online to save time was canceled and the manager created a new one when there was no need to. I had come in with the paperwork and confirmation that was filed online. Again I say, sketchy and not upfront honesty is delivered at this site. So my experience with 4663 Stenton Avenue/Ming Storage - first time "Shame on them" and they made me a believer the second time to "not do business with them "EVER". So traveling a little more distance to 2801 Hunting Park is worth my time and money, for sure. I do hope that Brian Phillips gets to read this comment that I took time to fill out. While the staff tried their best to assist me, I got stuck in the elevator because the swipe access times out before the elevator comes and opens. The staff was unable to figure out why. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. However, when I contacted the General Manager, Brandon Donovan he was EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful. The store experienced a flood and I didn't know the facility was still open. I contacted the 1800 number and then the manager specifically for this information after I had not heard back two days later. I explained that the streets surrounding were blocked off and he called me a liar. I told him "instead of calling me a liar why not explain to me how to get there." When I began naming the entry points that were all blocked off, he said he refused to help me and he hung up the phone unnecessarily. I had to contact his supervisor for an answer to a very simple question. On move out day, one of the seats in the truck ripped my pants, I spoke to a staff member who was extremely helpful and gave me the number to file a claim. The staff member said I could speak to the GM about it but I didn't even feel comfortable doing so after our first encounter. Our reserved unit was opened to find someone's belongings in it. We had to get a larger unit since there none left of the size we reserved. This was happening while I had hired help there to unload my truck into the unit. I have called the general manager's cell phone twice to request a temporary reduced rate for the unit we took to make it comparable to the unit I had reserved. He has not returned my call. The staff at the desk were friendly, but had to handle many customers and were not able to address my request. The facility itself is nice and clean. I went through three changes trying to get assigned to a unit. I was assigned then reassigned then assigned again. Then I was called 2 Days Later to reassign again and I was told to come in and told to move my stuff to another unit upon which I refuse to move everything because I felt it was the responsibility of whoever was managing to move it for me because they were not assigning effectively it was not my responsibility to come to move. It was great right up until the end. I wanted to rent a truck to move out my things. Although my driver's license was renewed and unexpired, due to Covid I only had the paper license showing the renewal and 2024 expiration date. PA allows the paper to be carried with the old photo license to show proof of id. This, however, was not accepted by the manager to rent a truck and he offered no other solution to rent a truck. Despite paying 200 $/month to Uhaul via auto pay for more than 2 years, I could not rent a truck from UHaul to move my property. The office hours are convenient but there was not nearly enough staff to run the busy days like Saturdays. Although I had rented a 6th floor unit online, there were none available when I got there. The manager gave me a unit # for a 6th floor unit, but when I came back with the movers a few hours later, that unit had a lock on it. The office was extremely busy and it was difficult to get attention to the issue that I had no place to move in. William was able to find an open unit on the 5th floor and helped the movers get access to both the 6th and 5th floors since now they needed to bring full carts from the 6th floor to the 5th floor. With the busy office, the moving of floors and the overall confusion about the unit I ended up using and paying the movers for at least another hour. Additionally, that morning when I picked up the 15' truck the manager had told my to avoid the waterlogged bay and drive through the garage door. After numerous of failed attempts, I was given another access card, didn't work. Staff member enter their code so I can get access. I gather my belongings and go to the unit, it was locked. I moved from NYC to philly so I emptied my storage unit in NYC and wanted to transfer my stuff to this facility. After making my reservation online- I called the facility to discuss office and access hours given I would be arriving in Philadelphia later in the evening- the person who answered the phone hung up on me 3 times mid conversation. She also did not offer me to try to set up 24 hour access by paying 10 $extra and told me "don't show up here before 9." I thought that was unprofessional. When I got to the facility at 9am I had to wait 2 hours in line prior to getting my storage unit. Very disappointing. I had to return the U-Haul Trailer I had rented and due to the wait my time went over and I had to pay another days worth of rental costs. Overall I thought the communication was poor and customer service lacked professionalism.
