Truck was dirty when I picked it up. Dash had a thick layer of dust and there were crumbs all over the floor and in the dash. While 2 employees were loading my moving pads into the truck I tried to start a conversation with one of them. It was tough to find the trailer I needed. They were able to help me out!Paul A.
When I called to make a reservation on Saturday, August 28, an automated message said I'd be on hold for 15 minutes, so I thought the store must have been crowded with customers renting trailers to move (end of lease and/or back to college). The store is only 10 minutes away, so, I got in my SUV and drove over to the store to get in line. To my surprise and relief the store was empty. The takeaway for U-Haul is that your automated phone answering system is defective and may be scaring away business. I could just have easily called or driven to the store of several of your competitors.Stephen M.

I rented some padded blankets when I setup the rental online. I was told the blankets would be in the van. They weren't. I had to ask the employees for them. They were helpful. It didn't take long, but it added 5 minutes to the pick-up. Also, the truck was pretty clean on the inside, but somewhat dirty on the outside. The check-out process states that the truck must be returned clean. I didn't have time to take it to a car wash to clean-off the dirt from the previous renters. But I did wash the very dirty windshield when getting gas before returning it. The truck worked well.Paul R.
It was frustrating to have lights go off every 20 min or so. Also frustrating was the lack of lighting in the unit and no electricity available. Not having furniture dollies was really disappointing to find out when I went to pick up the truck. If I would have known this location didn't have them to rent I would have gone with a different location. The website let me order them when I reserved the truck. It's not even that the furniture dollies were all being rented. I was told they have not had any to rent for while now. But they had some for sale for 20 $. Which I had to buy as I needed a furniture dolly. Everything else about my experience was great. Just really frustrating that a moving company wouldn't have furniture dollies to rent.Derek L.
Not location specific, but if customers are required to hold up their end of the bargain, then U-Haul should hold up their end as well. E.g. If a customer is required to pay for the days they requested even if they return the equipment early, then U-Haul should not be so flippant on their side by with what vehicles they allow users to reserve on the website. If a vehicle is already reserved, another customer should not be able to reserve the same vehicle through the website only to be called a few days later to be told the vehicle they selected to reserve is not available. Given the the fact that I have encountered that same scenario at least twice in my last three moves, that sort of customer experience, in my opinion, is completely unacceptable.Andrew G.

I have a very positive review for this location, but a WHOLE-HEARTEDLY NEGATIVE review of the U-Haul online experience, website inventory, reservation system. I reserved the U-haul weeks in advance, only to get a call the day before my move to tell me that there were none available to pick up and drop off in different locations, anywhere, except in a different state (250 miles from where I was....) I was frustrated, but then I was told that I could make a reservation for the day afterwards. My family, who was coming in from North Dakota to help me move in Minnesota, had to significantly alter their plans, even though I had done my due diligence, prepped, and reserved this weeks ago. I told the person working the phone line to let me speak to a manager, and she told me that a representative would be calling me at some point to help address this. (At the writing of this review, I have still not received a follow up call from anyone at U-Haul about this) So I made the reservation for 3:30pm on Saturday to 3:30pm on Sunday. I called ahead as per instructions (getting a call center, NOT the Burnsville location) and confirmed these times, equipment and details. However, when the time came to pick up the unit at the Burnsville, I was told that the computer system had me down for only 3:30pm on Saturday to 10:30am on Sunday. I was livid. I had done all the work of reserving all the equipment ahead of time, and each and every time something on the online reservation came up, the system failed horrendously. I voiced my dissatisfaction, and this is the saving grace of this experience. The manager at Burnsville stepped in, and let me take a slightly bigger truck for the same price, for the correct window of time. He understood my frustration, and instead of saying, "tough luck" he figured out a solution to the problem, helped out a customer, and finished the transaction well. Honestly, I can't recommend U-haul at this time, except for the folks at this location. The online experience was a disaster, the follow-ups were non-existent, and the overall experience was negative, except for Burnsville folks. U-Haul's system/management/inventory system needs to get it's act together.I've worked inventory management, and supply chains oversight, and this was a true failure of the system, through and through. I can't say enough about the managers/staff at this particular location. They were friendly, professional, had clean equipment, and actually treated me like a customer. Fix your online system, and hire more people like you have at Burnsville. They did great.MARK D.
All went very smoothly - i was in and out with the trailer in 15 minutes start to finish.BRIAN S.
First off, you guys need to give out trucks with a full tank to remove ambiguity regarding customer fuel needed and added. When fuel is at 3/8 it is hard to accurately guage fuel added...then the customer end up having to pay for fuel surcharge of over 4 $per gallon. I returned the truck close to 3/8 and was still charged an extra 12 $dollars for fuel. Secondly, when you guys change customer's original rental location, for a confirmed rental, you should be the ones bearing the cost of mileage difference. For instance, I booked my truck in Chaska to help my family move in Chaska but I was informed, after confirmation that there was no truck at the Chaska location. That change resulted in me incurring 38 miles of charges on the truck that I should not be bearing as well as having to drive there and drive back. At the very least when you guys change location of confirmed pick up, the customer should not be responsible for any resultant extra costs.SAMUEL D.

The gas fill up is vague and I ended up filled it up in FULL than im asked. I think the gas gauge is a scheme to get us to get it full regardless. Just tell us fill it full!! No beating around the bush. I mean, why worry about mileages when you ask us to fill tank in full!??Paul D.
The woman at the counter was pretty rude and didn't seem to have the time of day for customers. She would mumble and then get irritated and when people couldn't hear/understand her. Also, when I dropped off the truck there were arrows to a key drop box that was nowhere to be found.TAYLOR P.

I chatted with the asst Mgr and she set up a rental for me for 8/15. She had me choose my pickup location, Apple Valley or Bloomington. I chose Apple Valley. She told me they would call to confirm pickup time but she had it listed as 4pm. On the 15th, Apple Valley had no reservation and no trailer for me. I personally went back to Burnsville location to see what happened. I was offered a larger trailer but would have to pay more even though it was a Uhaul screw up. A phone call was made to transport dept and that woman was zero help even though uhaul was at fault and she wouldn't work with me at all. Very cold and non sympathetic. The guy at Burnsville location did all he could to help me and ended up by luck getting me a trailer. Very disappointed in your reservation process and system. I was clearly told I had a trailer them oops my reservation wasn't real. And the woman at the transport office offered up every excuse and lie as to why they didn't have a trailer. No apology no nothing. Very unprofessional! I would think twice before using uhaul again!Susan S.

Overall this was a good experience. Only downside was I was told initially that the rent for the unit would be refunded prorated. When I moved out, I didn't get a response for 20 days after I submitted the move out request and didn't get my prorated refund back either. The unit itself was clean, secure and easy to use. As stated above, I reserved a locker at Relaible Mini warehouse, Apple Valley, MN listed in your website as an Available option! I just moved to MN from NC with all my stuff. Only to find out that the facility is still under construction!! I was NOT told this. Completely I acceptable. I had to go to another facility in Burnsville and get 2 smaller lockers (on different floors) rather than the 1 larger one I reserved and for more money. I had to pay my movers an additional 200 $due to the travel time to new locker and the fact they had to go upstairs for one of the lockers. I'm completely dissatisfied with this situation. I spoke with a manager yesterday who gave me a small credit to be used later, but I am Not satisfied with this. It was a huge error on your part to have on the website and it says it is open and available. This is false information. The Burnsville facility was helpful and I have nothing against them. I also had an issue with my uhaul truck rental that I reserved in Canton, NC (when my scheduled movers never showed). I arrived to get my truck and was told they didn't have my truck. I had already driven an hour one way to get the truck and had to drive an additional 30 mins to get a truck in Asheville, NC. This whole uhaul experience has been awful. Your customer service is the worst for such an easy facility to maintain. I was wrongfully informed on "pro rating" my unit if I didn't use the whole month. Unfriendly customer service and everyone there seemed to hate their job. It's sad that the best part of my experience was my unit was close to the door so it was easy to move in and out. The first Gentleman was very nice. His supervisor- Assistant Store Manager was arrogant and argued about everything. The co worker apologized for him. I like your facility, have used it for 7 years, first when my home was destroyed In 2012 by neighbors house fire. I've seen a dozen or more associates work here. Mostly very questionable and seemingly uneducated about customer service as well as grammar and cleanliness. That saying, I believe you hire people that need a second chance in life, and I think that's great. The Store Manager on Friday March 20 was personable, knowledgeable, clean and friendly. I checked another facility only because the prices are more then I wanted to pay. I decided to rent again because I knew what to expect, I trusted the company and it was generally comfortable. I was disappointed on Sunday March 22nd the SM was not working. The associate pleasantly surprised me after the initial perception of his very dirty appearance. He was very helpful, concerned and friendly. I felt perhaps since I've been an outstanding client of yours, for several years, never missed a payment, left everything clean, when leaving and convinced my Sister, Mother and Grandmother to use your units, the ASM would be a little more accommodating and less arrogant and condescending. I don't like leaving feeling uncomfortable to return. The only good thing is I may never have to see the ASM again. I seldom go in the office area other then to rent a uhaul truck. I also am a Store Manager of high end, luxury retail for over 25 years and expectations are much higher then everyday retail. I hope you know I am happy with the facility, just never know what kind of service (or attitude) to expect when I have to interact with associates.
