Staff & Manager seem to not care at all about customer experience. I was contacted once about changing the lock on my unit. I called 4 times and left 3 messages and multiple emails to get no response from any of the managers. They put another lock on my unit for over a year, because they were afraid I may not pay my rent on time. This limited my access to the unit. I raised an issue with customer support, and they emailed the manager but they did not respond or resolve it. I was forced to go in person to resolve the issue. This experience has forever turned me off from using U-haul services.

William H.I was over charged on fuel due their error. When I turned it in Kyle said I was over 6 miles (a total of 26) and that's what I would be charged for. I put in almost 3 gallons of gas, putting it at where it was when I picked up. But was charged an additional $30 in fuel. I called and Kyle confirmed the error but basically told me that mgmt couldn't help me. I called customer service and got no help. I had the truck for 2 hours and drove 26 miles and was charged $110, ridiculous. I will use a different company in the future.

Aryka H.Too many fees! I had the vehicle for less than 24 hours but was charged for 2 days. (Not sure what Uhaul's definition of a day is.) I was also charged for another day of the optional insurance. Also the gas gage didn't work unless the van was in motion. As a result, I paid for an extra quarter of a tank of gas. Won't recommend and definitely won't use again.

Renee F.Your identification requirements are weird and unparalleled in other facets of life. IF you insist on needing third party verification prior to picking up a vehicle off hours, you can't just say "it was in the agreement you signed". There's many things "in the agreement" that amount to boilerplate legalese that NOBODY reads. You need to make it BOLD and CLEAR that you'll be standing in the cold, dark early morning WITHOUT a third party verification by phone (2023, anyone?) or a passport (because I guess people just walk around normally with passports) or a lease agreement (hard to obtain when you're purchasing a home). You have a site/app that purports to make it easy to pick it up when you want it, and it does in fact state you need third party verification, but it says so very quietly after the BIG BOLD three step process further up the page. You need to be clearer. Lastly, when I finally went into the location at opening, a very helpful young lady assisted me. I asked if I was one of the very few people who made this mistake, and she said no. In fact, she guessed that 70 % of the customers she deals with run into the same problem. I think you need to think about that and improve your messaging.
Joseph M.I am upset that I have twice reserved a 4 x 8 foot closed trailer more than 2 weeks in advance and did not get that trailer. Once there was one at the location but it was given to another customer, and this time I was told it would only be available more than 50 miles away. I thought by reserving it so far in advance I should get the size I want.

Unfortunately, I did not notice this until I had already left the location to start moving my things. They did take that charge off, however.

I believe the young lady's name was Amanda. She was providing outstanding service as best as anyone could expect. She had a great attitude as I watched her help two very difficult customers. I was able to drop off without assistance using the website, so I guess that went okay.

They had to get it ready, I waited for two hours. I had also hired a moving helper for 3 hours at $120 bucks an hour this place took two of those hours. I lost money. Then I was over charged. You have to buy their locks but only the most expensive lock was available, but their inventory stated they had 120 of the inexpensive locks available. My over all experience was horrific and cost me alot of money. Don't get a storage unit from this business.

Marcus B. | Expérience généraleWhen you set up your account on line and go into the office to secure it, with a manager. It should not take them an hour and a half to finalize it. On line it states they have available 10 x 10 units BUT they don't. In the meantime I have hired a Moving Helper for 2 hours at $100 per hour. I only got an hour of his time, the other hour was wasted by the Manager at this facility to get my unit ready, I think. It seemed she spent more time on the phone, then taking care of business. Then I had to buy the more expensive lock because she couldn't find the cheaper one, even though her inventory said she had 54 locks their but couldn't find them? Then next day when I came in, they had plenty of standard storage locks on display in the office. I had to come back and get another unit, which I actually reserved online a another 10 x 10. When I arrived of course there are none but on line doesn't say that. Evidently they have their own items in those units, that WHY they are not available to the public. So they give me a 5 x 8 but didn't assign me a unit number, I had to go back again, and I got the unit number, when I got home my husband informs me that is the same unit number as the first one! I called to get it fixed, only to be told that I have to go back to office, customer service can't handle that. I went back was given the unit number. Plus they had to fix my invoice, I purchased a bundle of large boxes and was over charged for the bundle by $15.00. My husband goes to the storage unit, we can't use it, it's to small. I am so frustrated with this storage place, over charging me, costing me money for a Moving Helper that only worked an hour and charging me more for locks I didn't need to buy I had to find another storage place to meet me needs, and wouldn't have had to do that if this storage place correctly let the public know what they had available. Plus now I had two keep my moving truck for two extra days. This is almost $500 dollars extra I had to pay out of my pocket! I would never recommend this Uhaul or storage place to anyone.

Made us think of inside job.

Some peeved that caused me to move were; my unit door was missing the insulation rubber around it making it easy for bugs and rodents to enter and there was a persistent wasp nest in the eaves above my unit. Finally when they ended the 24 hour access, which I loved so I put up with the aforementioned inconveniences; I had to leave.

If it does, then please know this; The entire staff at 5220 Auburn UHAUL is an exceptionally wonderful team. They exhibit wonderful customer service skills, each and every time. There are times when the outcome is not to the customers liking. However, it doesn't mean the U-haul representatives did not do everything within their control to remedy a situation. This really should be acknowledged. Corporate really should provide them every tool they would need to be the best U-haul branch they deserve to be. Cooper, Chris and Skylar.....great job gentlemen! To be honest, I figured it wouldn't be free because there would be hidden fees, etc. But when I turned in my key 5 days before the end of the first month, I was not charged. I was surprised and delighted! I needed a short term rental, and this facility was great.

UHAUL paperwork shows storage access GATE hours as 5am to 10pm. Rented truck late in day, 2:00pm. Due to return truck and store items by 6:30pm on sat Oct 31,2020. Fell off truck which delayed return of truck and stopped to fill up gas to FULL status. Truck mileage was 56947 at UHAUL, returning mileage @7:42pm was 56953, BUT, we couldn't access the storage gate for entrance. We looked at our paperwork and receipt given to us by office and it states STORAGE ACCESS 5AM to 10PM. This was the deciding factor for closing out my current storage and moving to a closer storage facility. Unable to store my truck filled items in the unit and being told by staff that the area and facility deals with theft of gas and breaking into storage trucks, I drove the truck to my residence and secured it with a lock. I had to go to work at 3:30am Sunday morning and my vehicle was still parked at the UHAUL site, so I paid for a LYFT to take me to the UHAUL facility to pick my vehicle up, so I could go to work and reduce the possibility of theft. Also, I rented a truck earlier in the week for a ground unit that wasn't available. I paid for a truck that I couldn't use. Manager Andrew DID compensate me for this inconvenience. However, October 31, 2020 was a horrible, painful and stressful situation. I have left a storage facility to move to one of your facilities because of proximity and gate access, only to discover at night that the gate hours are no longer 5-10pm as your paperwork suggests. NOT happy.!
