I rented a 5x8 trailer for 500 $. That is ridiculously over priced. I would understand if it was a truck but for a trailer?

One of your two staff behind the counter was not wearing a mask - he had it below his chin, mouth and nose uncovered. Not cool to do with customers right across the counter.

My unit was not alarmed for months. The door was always reading open. Told management about the problem multiple times and was basically blown off. Even after a break in attempt it was not fixed.

The associates who helped me pickup, extend my rental and handle the return (different employees whose names I can't recall) were very helpful and very importantly: respectful of my time (was dealing with some issues that would've gotten worse if there were added delays). They also didn't treat me like a clueless woman (something that I've gotten a few times in my life with things that are vehicle related) which was appreciated even if not acknowledged (since treating all people regardless of gender with respect is just par for the course, of course).

Fewer homeless presence would improve a customer's sense of safety and security. Every visit was met with either homeless persons in the parking lot or within the rental and storage areas. Not sure why moving and or storage service providers would attract so many homeless other than the possibility that homeless people share nd or rent units to live in.

Its easier to bring the vehicle back then to rent it. I love the guys that check the vehicles in. The only issue I had was the tank was at a quarter full. I think it should be and a half. I had pre-ordered for the following week at the site, I asked for the same size truck , for the next week. I got o pick it up and its a cargo van. The staff said its no problem to fix the mix up because they had a lot in stock but it was a hick-up in my departure. Over all love the speedy check in and out . Love the guys that check the trucks in.

There is a problem with homeless people at this location. They are trying to live at the facility both in the storage units and in cars on on the property. Some smell so bad that, if they are on one of the storage unit floors their horrendous stench fills the entire floor. I went one evening to retrieve a few items from my storage unit and when I parked my car apparently my headlights angered some homeless people in a van that were camping on the property and they flashed their headlights at me and yelled because my car's headlights were aimed at them were I parked outside the storage entrance. Some of these disgusting squatters are very aggressive and this why I will never use this Uhaul facility again. It's too bad because I like the location and the actual storage units. If I were the Manager of this place, I would eradicate this problem before Uhaul loses all there respectable paying customers.

There should be a warning or reminder before completing the reservation for first time renters that they will need to bring two forms of government IDs in order to read the vehicle. Aside from this, the rental experience was good and Chad was very helpful.

The staff at Clairemont Mesa were great, no complaints about them. I didn't get a large enough size truck (U-Haul's fault) and now I have to make a return trip to the Bay Area to get the rest of my things that had to be put in storage. U-Haul management should pay people to deadhead its vehicles back to the Bay Area. Pass the costs on. Seemingly, U-Haul is waiting for a customer to move the vehicles back to the Bay Area, and that is not likely to happen in a timely manner. I am greatly disappointed in U-Haul and the whole experience. Why couldn't I have been informed earlier of the distance I had to drive to pick up the (inadequately sized) vehicle? Also, why wasn't I immediately offered a trailer to attach to the smaller truck? If the trailer was in a different location than the truck, why couldn't U-Haul have hired someone to put them together? Why wasn't I offered a storage unit immediately upon U-Haul informing me that the closest truck (smaller than requested) was 200 miles away? Instead I needed to complain that the truck was too small to hold my possessions, which only became obvious when we were packing the truck. I don't think this one-way crisis in the Bay Area is being adequately managed.

I had the worst experience with uhaul the day of my move. I went to go pick up my truck at a different location then this, the one I booked online and the truck wasn't there. So I booked another one online, truck still isn't there. I had a full on panic attack because the hired movers were at my place I stayed up until 2am the night before packing and now there is no truck to move?!? When talking with uhaul support they sent me to this address to get the truck. It is absolutely ridiculous that uhaul online lets you book trucks that don't exist at locations. I just went through the stressful process of buying a home and now uhaul made my moving day just as stressful. I will never use uhaul again.

Uhaul system was down so it took longer than usual to pick up the vehicle. However, this location had the best equipment and staff did know well what to do even under bad circumstances when system was down.

Contactless pick up was meaningless. The app did not recognize my location. Which requires finding a QVC code to scan in the building. I had to upload pictures of my license again the day of pick up even though I had done it the day before. The truck was not parked out front or ready so I had to deal with an associate so they could pull the truck around front where it should have already been parked. There was only half a tank of gas in the truck.

I ordered from a different location. Neither location told me about a change in location. I got dropped off at the original location. Then I had to get a ride to this location. It was further away from where I needed to go. This location didn't accommodate at all. I had to pay for the miles and the gas to get to this far away location. I will not be using uhaul in the future.

We were not provided a lock and had to use a zip tie I had on hand to secure the rolling door of the truck. We also reserved a hand cart / trolley and it was not included in the truck.

I ordered a 26 ft trick 7 am pickup online well in advance & actually confirmed multiple times including the day before. The employee even walked me thru the online , scan barcode , procedure so I could pickup truck before hours . I was FURIOUS when I arrived at loca @ 7 am wasn't able to pickup truck. I waited 2 wasted hours for loca to open only to be told an employee FORGOT to set up my appt as a self serve online pickup. I've been a faithful customer of U-Haul & this is the second time you all ruined my moving experience. I'm not Happy , I cannot recommend U-Haul under these circumstances.

Dolly was not added to the truck as ordered. Furniture pads was half a dozen instead of a dozen as ordered. Hard to get hold of the location via phone, always went to call center. Reported a lost item on Sunday and still have not heard back.

I was mislead about the particular unit I was reserving over the phone. I very specifically requested a drive up unit. What they had for me when I got there was a small room in a hallway with a standard sized door. How exactly should I have moved a washer, dryer, 2 mattresses, 2 couches and a dinning table through the narrow hallway and even narrower door? The staff appeared as if it were their first day on the job and either couldn't or wouldn't do a single thing to help. I was forced to cancel the entire thing and rent space at a different company

The staff were friendly and helpful. We signed up for a 5x8x10 Unit and the first option that was presented to us was definitely short on the advertised size. One staff member was unwilling to troubleshoot the issue and offered a larger locker of course for a price that was higher. Upon further discussion we were able to look at another unit that was the correct dimensions and what we had planned for. We appreciated the willingness to get us set up in the unit size we requested however it was regrettable that it took so much effort to do so. If a unit is advertised as a certain size that is the expectation as the consumer that we will not be short changed.

I highly recommended this place, security is above and beyond. One day I did not locked my unit properly but they contacted by email and phone call to let me know how properly lock my united and had locked it for me.The place is very clean.

The U-Haul equipment has taken over this storage facility. Sometimes the road in to the facility is very difficult because of the way the equipment is parked. We have been customers since this facility was Great American Storage. I am aware that U-Haul's business is to rent equipment but some courtesies need to remain for the storage customers.

I moved here when the facility was new, from a wherehouse location that was covered by wire mesh that allowed everything to get dirty and some things were affected by the heat. What a contrast! My entire experience couldn't have been better with my storage at U-Haul. The office staff very helpful, courteous, knowledgeable and accessible. I rented for longer than originally planned and found that each time I went to the unit that the building and surrounding area was clean, well lit and carts always available for use.
