After renting here for 12 months, I spent a whole day moving to a less conveniently-located facility because this U-Haul location is so bad. I have: (1) been locked out of my unit (not billing related), (2) been trapped in the facility, (3) had papers in my “air conditioned” unit ruined due to humidity, and (4) measured the indoor temperature last week at 29 degrees Fahrenheit. All the while, I experienced totally inept customer service. 1) Over the course of two weeks, I visited my unit after hours twice and was unable to use my card to get in. After going out of my way to visit during office hours, I was told, “Oh yeah the card readers don’t work on building D… we will get you PIN access.” U-Haul management should have notified customers rather than leaving it to us to figure out that the card reader wasn’t working. 2) On December 11th at 5pm I entered the facility, which has one entrance and one exit off the highway, only to find construction trucks blocking the exit. After notifying the construction crew to my presence, I was still unable to access my unit or even leave the facility for 20 minutes. This could have easily been prevented by management coordinating to move U-Haul trucks that eliminated means of navigating around the construction trucks. 3/4) Don’t expect the indoor “air-conditioned” units to amount to anything. For over a month this summer, A/C was malfunctioning in building D such that the floor had pools of water from condensation on pipes… the resulting humidity was enough to destroy any exposed papers items in storage. This winter, I measured the building’s inside temperature to be below freezing. I understand that things break, but at least notify your customers! When I was dealing with the broken card readers on July 17, 2020, one of the employees was not wearing a mask. He was talking to two customers (both wearing masks) at a short distance. Regardless how you feel about masks, his attitude was objectively disrespectful towards those customers. This total lack of care is made apparent by every single U-Haul employee at this location by their inability to provide reasonably reliable unit access and/or notification of the facility’s state of disrepair.

Equipment lot was in and representative unhelpful upon return and stood chatting with another employee as I struggled against the snow to back trailer into specific space... really unpleasant way to end our uhaul experience.

The location was very helpful, but one note is that there is terrible cell-service around the building, so it is close to impossible to return a truck after hours, because you won't have enough service to check out.

I was scheduled to pick up the truck at 6 am in Salem MA arriving at the location the vehicle was not there, they transferred me to Danvers MA so I managed to pick up the vehicle at 7:15 am, when returning an Asian-looking person was very stupid and called us made fuck.

Sales associate was rude. Seemd annoyed. When I asked him does the vehicle take gas or diesel, he replied: it does not take hope and honey... I could not believe what i was hearing, but did not want to get into discussion with him. I returned the vehicle. He just took the keys and told me ur all set...nothing else, grabbed the keys frlm3my hand. If someone is having a day day they need to stay home and not bring that to work and on the customers. I was paying for vehicle it was not being given to me for free.

I'm glad U-Haul has the online check-in option as the staff seemed overwhelmed near the closing time on Saturday. I waited with the vehicle as directed during office hours for twenty minutes but no one was available to come check the van for me to close out the rental contract in person.

The only issue was the UHaul website would not allow me to sign in early to pick up my rental vehicle prior to the store opening at 0900; I had planned on a 0700 pickup so my day was disrupted by the issue. Otherwise the Danvers store is always clean, professionally represented and friendly!

It is unclear wear to park and since the entrance is directly off rt 1 theres not much space to quickly slow down if a lot of cars are around and confused where to go. More signs to direct to parking would be helpful.

I was met by your customer service rep at 9AM on Sat 1/9/2021 at your Danvers MA location. Her name was Elizabeth(sorry I did not catch the last name). She was unequivocally the best customer service rep I have met in 10 years. She was checking me in, helping her colleague with a question and giving someone info on her cell phone all at the same time. Great multi tasking skills and a very pleasant way about her. Brought the truck back on 6PM and she is outside cleaning trucks and immediately takes care of reading my mileage so I can get on my way quickly. My reservation was screwed up. I admit, I have problems with my speech, owing to a stroke I suffered, but really I almost didn't catch it. And it seems to have increased my bill $80. The one nice thing was the young woman exuded confidence, and she delivered. She had the problem fixed in no time. I couldn't see if she was smiling under the mask, but her attitude was "being indispensable is just what I do." Titiyanna really saved the day. Give her a raise! Daniel Duffy

Absolutely no improvements. The great people at this location went above and beyond for me. I had to cancel my dates quite a few times due to circumstances beyond my control. They were so understanding. Then when I went to pick up the truck I realized it wouldn't be big enough and they didn't mind changing it out for me. I would definitely recommend using them 💯 %. The morning when I picked up my truck the girl was exceptional! When I went to drop it off was frustrating though. I arrived close to closing time and the guy asked me to do online drop off. The internet wouldn't work on my phone so I was unable to complete it. He was still there but kept busy looking at the other vehicles turned in whose customers had left. I felt like he should have helped me since I was there in person.

You instruct customers to post pictures of the trailer when they pick them up (particularly if there is a dispute about condition or pre-existing damage) However, the location has very poor cell service and the guest wifi is terrible. I was NOT able to get the necessary picture posted. Don't encourage clients to use this process if it does not work. As a result my pick up experience took a LONG time and I was never able to upload the dispute pictures.

I got stuck having to pay for a storage rental fee OF $105 from 2018 in Somerville, MA that was on auto-pay BUT I had already moved out. I got charged then and again right before I was able to rent the truck. I would like to be reimbursed for both transactions. Neither should have happened since I had already moved out.

Again on return at 4pm, one employee working to check in trucks. Line was very long with people waiting outside as well. Took over a half hour to check in truck. Did not like the fact I had to pickup in Danvers when I made reservation for Wilmington. Just because I used it one way should be no excuse. I was told that's where it was available. Reservations for a location apparently mean nothing. Uhaul should have brought a trailer to the location of my choice.

Put a sign out on Rt 1 North that identifies the entry way. I love that the voice mail states, "it's right after the Center Street exit". So I was prepared for it and looking for it but it's a sharp turn and there is no signage there at all. So if you miss it, you need to go way out of your way to get back there.

Despite being a brand new vehicle (1500 miles) which was clean, I'm not sure how well maintained I would say it was. When I picked it up the low tire pressure warning was on. Tires rated 85 PSI were inflated at 54, 50 (front) and 77, 33 (rear). Are the vehicles not checked for issues like this before they go out? I added air which delayed the start of my move, but after driving 75 miles the tire pressure warning came on again. The readings this time were 62, 61 (front) and 76, 56 (rear). When I returned the van, the morning staff (who were lovely) had been replace by a new crew. The afternoon staff was unhelpful and borderline rude. They barely looked up when I approached the counter, said the system was down, to leave the keys, and that my final invoice would be delivered via email. I mentioned that there was an issue with the van that I wanted to make them aware of. They disinterestedly asked what the problem was. I explained what was going on with the tire pressure, that three of the tires were not holding air, and that one in particular (the rear passenger side) was especially bad. The response? "There's probably a nail in that tire." Seriously? Low tire pressure and/or a nail in a tire is potentially very dangerous. Thankfully our trip ended safely. I understand that things happen, but the lack of interest or concern on the part of the staff was frustrating and disheartening.

U-Haul of Danvers is definitely a secure place, there are cameras everywhere. I went Thursday night to close out my storage unit and the front desk had 2 workers. I needed to wait about 15 minutes before being taken care of but once I was being served things went quickly. I would recommend this facility. Thanks Bob

This was a last minute storage rental I made with Beth an hour before closing. I had a reservation for a truck and storage unit at U-Haul 222 Central Street Saugus but they close early (Thursday 2/20/20 before 4:30) so I was left high and dry. I ended up getting my truck from Ricky at the Saugus Broadway facility and he recommended Beth at the Danvers facility for my storage units. Beth was knowledgeable and professional and I would recommend both the Saugus Broadway facility and the Danvers facility. Stay away from U-Haul at 222 Central Street Saugus. Thanks Bob Santiano

I had climate control unit it was below 25 degrees in winter and froze my stuff. Then it was 100 degree cause air conditioner was not working so my stuff melted. Never be back used them for many years
