The U-Haul Vehicle itself seemed to be NOT very safe when driving and seemed as if it was NOT well maintained, both in terms of vehicle maintenance as explained as well as interiors as detailed below. The steering wheel was like pretty wobbling and when driving at 60 m/hr, I had to bring in all my 25+ yrs of experience to ensure the vehicle was not drifting away from its driving lane when a truck was crossing the vehicle who was driving at the normal 65 m/hr. Considering U-Haul vehicles are pretty much used for lots of movement, I was at the least expecting hand sanitizers, napkins etc loaded in the vehicle during these difficult times of ongoing COVID-19.

We are 5 mins late and the staff (man) still there and not ready to help with manual drop off. So tried self drop off. The self drop off doesn't work, we tried with browser and uhaul app and both didn't work to find the location (location service is already on). Luckily another staff (girl) who going back home told to dropoff key and she took care of the drop off process the next day. You should fix self drop off system.

U-haul royally screwed us over. I will be posting detailed reviews if a concession is not made to accommodate being forced to drive an extra 1300 miles to make 2 trips instead of one. The gas alone was hundreds of dollars and we did everything correct when booking only to have a bait and switch the morning of our move. Our hands were tied and u-haul took full advantage of us. I know customer service and this was deplorable. Please call me to fix it.

Two issues where I had to change to a different storage unit when the one I reserved was overrun by ants. When the employee made the change she accidentally moved me out of my other storage unit. It was a good thing I discovered the mistake as U-Haul probably would have cut my lock and then sold my possessions :-( Overall the experience was good other than what I just described.

The location is clean and welcoming. The service too isn't bad, as I have bought packaging supplies from this location before. The process was quick and the rental location personnel also helped sign the contract signifying that actual fuel level in truck was lower than what's mentioned in the contract, when I showed the picture of dashboard. However, my experience was not at all good with how u-haul managed my latest move from this location. I booked a 15' truck well ahead of time on Nov 8th and was supposed to pick it up on Nov 28th. Keeping this schedule in mind and the mail I received subsequently for moving help from u-haul, I also booked moving help through u-haul locally in Pleasanton for loading and Vancouver for unloading. All of a sudden, I received a call on Nov 26th that there are no trucks in a 100 mile radius and when I asked why are we so late at being notified, I was run through the same script that's told to all customers. What's more disappointing was that when I asked about what will happen to the loaders and unloaders already booked in Pleasanton and Vancouver, it was told payment is already made and u-haul holds no responsibility for them. So, bottomline is, u-haul has no responsibility for providing truck on time or telling the loaders or unloaders booked from its very site that I don't have a truck so your job is cancelled. This apparently opened my eyes to the fact that I cannot ever plan anything in future with u-haul, because I realize u-haul probably fails to understand that customers like me don't book multiple truck rentals for a day. That's the trust I place on a business being run based importance of customer schedule and its well known that no sane truck rental firm will rent you a truck the day before transferring your stuffs across state. After almost another 30 mins of call time and expressing my disappointment, I was told there is a 10' and not 15' truck available on Nov 29th. Having no other option, I immediately agreed and asked if its possible to pick it up on Nov 28th. After almost another 4-5 calls spanning until next day i.e. Nov 27th, customer services finally responded that I can pick it up on Nov 28th, which apparently seemed a dream come true. Not just u-haul customer service, but even rental location told me I am extremely lucky to get this truck. I never knew one has to be so lucky to plan and pledge to pay in advance and then get a truck that's not same size that was ordered. Amongst all this, special thanks to Blenda from u-haul customer service who persistently stood beside us and helped me get this last available 10' truck. So, in the end, I can say we were no more concerned about how tortuous the move will be, because all the time was spent thinking about whether we will even get the truck. This was separate from the fact that with a 10' truck, I had to leave stuffs behind, which could have easily fit a 15' based on my prior calculations. This hassle was not because of scheduling, as I got to know from both customer service as well as rental location that out of state trucks are totally separate from local ones and their schedule is tight as well as properly known ahead of time. My frustration is that even after knowing well in advance that something like this can occur, u-haul kept waiting until Nov 26th to let me know nothing is available in a 100 mile radius. My overall rating is still generous in terms of my past experience at this location, but this still doesn't change what I went through. I did also recommend this place for local moves, as I saw its efficient in its operation and quite a few trucks are available locally for move.

I got a 26 foot truck and it had less than 1/4 tank of gas. I've rented many Uhaul trucks, and they always have a small amount of gas in them, and I have a hard time only using that small amount of gas then refilling it back to that point, because I'm not supposed to fill it above the point I got it at. Ideally every truck would have a full tank of gas when I rent it so it makes it easy to fill up before returning. At the least if it can be filled up to at least 1/2 or 3/4. It feels like the company is valuing not having to pay an employee to fill it, or hoping that someone rents and accidentally fills it up more than they should. An employee told me Uhaul never fills the trucks with more gas, they just sometimes give a credit to the customer if it's less than 1/4 tank to fill it back up to 1/4. This makes it more clear why all the trucks have about 1/4 tank of gas in them, because each customer will return with the same amount of gas they got it with, or won't fill it and pay the fee. But if no customers accidently fill it higher than they got it, there is no way for the truck to ever be filled above 1/4 for the next customer. It feels very mean towards customers for the business to treat us this way.

The extended rental was very reasonably priced, and it gave me a chance to move locally over a couple of weekends, including a few trips to the lumber store for some larger items. Four 60 mile round trips, plus 2 trips to Lowes, all on less than one tank. Brilliant.

We needed a second van or truck because there wasn't a 20' truck available for one-way when we rented from the Uhaul facility in Hayward CA. Dublin Uhaul was able to assist us with renting a second truck which saved us from having to come back to the Bay Area to move our remaining stuff. Thank you!

I was miffed by the request to provide 3 additional telephone numbers when I went to pick up the van after my online rental was already approved. Most people these days rely on just their cell phone for all communications and financial transactions. When I ask the clerk why U-Haul needed 3 telephone numbers, she just gave me a shrug, which I understood as a take it or leave it attitude. Luckily my son was with me and between the two of us, we were able to provide the 'supposedly' required 3 telephone numbers.

Absolute worst customer service, I reserved my my truck 6 days in advance, hired movers and everything, and on the day of I got a called that my truck won't be available!! Probably cause it was a 6pm pick up and they wanted to make more money by renting it to another person for the day. Called and they were extremely rude, said it's my fault for whatever reason, and threatened to cancel my reservation that was moved for the following day!! Next time I'd much rather pay a little extra and go with a better company, I'll advice everyone else to do the same, cause this was the 3rd time this shit has happened with U-Haul. You suck!

The storage unit was just what i needed! It served the purpose for a safe contained space while i needed it. Staff were almost always there at the counter to help customers, which is to say I rarely had to wait for service. When I did have to wait for a staff person to return to the counter, it usually wasn't for very long. The younger staff are not friendly, but they do their job. The older staff are pleasant and friendly and i always felt like i was getting better service when the staff were kind, gentle and pleasant.

I would have rated this 5 stars but wasn't informed of how to properly move out of my unit. I told the Uhaul employee in person that I was moving out of my storage unit on the 7th when I rented a truck to do so. I asked if he could cancel my reservation of the unit and if I needed to do anything else. I was told no. The next day my bank account was charged for the unit and I had to submit a cancellation through the website. I wasn't told that I would need to take further steps else be charged for the unit and so I am very unhappy and will be filling a claim with my bank for the return of my $114.

I tried to contact manager (via phone - no answer - and email) to inform of move out date as our billing date is close to same day.....instead of a response, I got a receipt for the billing which was ONE DAY in to the new charges BEFORE they were actually due....I feel entitled to a refund!! Unit was empty in two days DUE TO THIS LOCATION NOT HAVING THE ACCESS HOURS THEY HAD WHEN WE MOVED IN!! ACCESS HOURS ARE STATED TO BE UNTIL.10:00 PM - EVEN CORPORATE SAID THIS...YET 7 PM WHEN OFFICE CLOSES - ACCESS ENDS. This has inconvenienced me on more than one visit to my unit. Not sure what happened because the place was cool when we got in....Nov. 2019.... .

I cannot praise the Dublin facility enough. Greg, the manager, is a lifesaver. When the Oakland Uhaul storage facility flooded, he and his team moved my belongings to the Dublin facility while I was traveling for work. Excellent professionalism!!

I rented a cargo trailer that was recommended, but ended up being too small. So had to order another trailer last night at 7pm. I had to leave my UHaul out on the street when the store closed, to hook up another trailer. Rented a 10x10, but you all close access to the gates and storage too early (7pm), so I had to rent at Oublic Storage (who has access until 9pm). Brought the open air trailer back at 10pm (3 hours later), but couldn’t easy return it, as the clerk apparently never checked the unit in. Then I had to wait on the phone in a woman who was trying to fix it. I had to send pics. Then I had to buy a hydraulic jack so I could lift my full cargo trailer back on my truck at 11pm.

Overall, this experience was great in theory, but poor in execution. Our unit was supposed to be ready to go with a lock inside, but when we arrived, the unit had a padlock on it. We had to drive back out the entrance and go inside the store (which we were trying to avoid due to COVID) to finally track down someone who could come unlock it. This was after I'd tried calling only to have the line hang up. The guy unlocked the unit while we were still unloading stuff so we didn't get a chance to make sure there was a lock inside before he took off. Sure enough, there wasn't a lock, so we had to make a second trip back up to the front and into the store, where this time there was a long line of people (again, trying to socially distance here), to ask for the lock. All in all, I can't complain too much - it was free with the truck rental. But for something that was advertised as effortless, this took a ton of time and social interaction we just weren't prepared for.

I reserved a 10x20 unit and a 10x10 unit. I was delayed in my return of the 26’ Truck and checking into the storage unit due to protest. I called the service center and sent messages daily to inform them of my progress and when I expected to arrive to the storage unit. When I did arrive and attempted to check into the storage unit, I was told I had no reservation and they didn’t even have a unit in that size available for me. I was able to pull up my emails showing my reservations, but it didn’t matter because they had already rented it out. I chose this storage location because I had 12’ kayaks with me, and I needed the 20’ storage unit. The store did offer me 2 10x10 units instead. But it was less than ideal and I had to purchase a 3rd unit as well because I had to store my kayaks in the unit at a less than ideal angle do to the small size of the unit. I plan on contacting customer service at a soon and discussing the cost of a 3 10x10 units vs the cost of a 10x20 unit. The people working in the store were courteous and helpful, and I don’t think that it was there fault. I’m not sure where the issue was, but it made it an extremely unpleasant experience. In the future I can’t say for certain that I will use UHaul storage again.

I had reserved a unit of my liking, come to find out they didn’t had my reservation. I also rented a truck but they didn’t have it when I arrived. ( they ended up giving me a bigger one at same rate) but the fact that I had to wait when I had done the online reservation plus I had to go home and try to find a unit that I could used to no success I ended up renting one there indoors which made my moved a lot harder plus delayed my whole day.
