This place was great, and very nice. They understood that I had been having a very bad experience with U-Haul, so they did what they could to make things pleasant. Up to that point, my experience was not good. While the people at the facility in Charleston, SC were nice and tried to fix the issues, the issues should have NEVER happened. Multiple problems trying to use the return method without staff present. 1- The website was not working properly. Tried to login and would not recognize either my name or password. 2- Did find another way to connect to the website and follow instructions taking pictures and answering questions. The last instruction was to drop keys in a lockbox. There is no lockbox for return keys, only a lockbox for pickup keys. 3- There was no trash can to assist with cleaning up the van for return. 4- All of the searching and taking pictures was done in the rain. I was soaked. There is a cover there but a vehicle was already parked and left there. Even so, the cover is so high the rain was still getting to me under the cover when standing there. 5- Bad experience on the return process. Also called for assistance but on hold for over 15 minutes, so I had to hangup.Edward G.

They need help in there. There were only 2 associates and it took me almost an hour to pick up a truck. The man was trying to do everything on his own and the other associate stepped out to help someone else it seemed like forever. Unit was sold without contact or certified mail. Mail was not received or signed for. This location should have taken into consideration that people are having issues with COVID and getting back on their feet before selling off people's units. The people their are nice enough but I lost a lot because of their actions. And to make it worst, a few weeks later, we found out that people were stealing mail in the area so we were not protected because they didn't send something to us via certified mail to let us know. Marked "No" on equipment being clean and well maintained due to the cab smelling like cigarette smoke. Users should not be allowed to smoke in the vehicles. Also was very disappointed in having to drive 40 minutes to pick up the van when there are about 6-8 U-Haul locations closer to my home. I was just lucky that I checked my e-mail the morning of my pick-up because I did not receive a phone call notifying me of the last minute change in pick-up location from Pineville (much more convenient!) to Gastonia.Jeffrey M.

The truck was DISGUSTING full of cigarette smoke, ashes, the steering wheel and other touch areas had a sticky residue on them. The equipment is obviously not being properly cleaned. The staff is unprofessional and not particularly interested in providing customer service. This is the absolute worst uhaul location I have ever visited!!!RJ D.
Tell your employees (Mackenzie Malone), to not be rude to customers when they are returning the equipment. Just because you are busy and short staffed you can not take it out on paying customers. This is a stressful time for all of us and she was very rude with me. I asked for receipt, she said she was busy couldn't look at truck for at least 30 minutes and said I can just email it to you. I did not like the truck was not examined when I turned it in. She took the keys and just walked off. Very rude and very poor customer service and I have lived in Gastonia for many years and this is the only UHAUL store I come too and next time I will rethink that before I come back in this store. Even when I move I have bought all my moving supplies from this store. I don't appreciate rude treatment when I am spending my hard earned money.ALJURITA W.

My last conversation issue through customer service I asked them to have the location contact me and text me and she said well you can leave a message and they'll get back to you if they want . Could not find key drop box upon initial truck drop off at 7am on Sunday. Left truck and took key. Returned with key when location opened and was greeted with very mean and unprofessional employee. Made my reservation online after 2 other reservations had issues. Booked an appliance dolly, was told at the location was told they didn't have any available and then they did and then I was double charged. Make visible key drop signs.September M.
This uhaul storage facility is excellent and the staff is awesome. They care about your needs and work with you and always taking care of you. They are wonderful I appreciate them a lot , everything that they helped me with and for being so caring and understanding. Every last one of them were their to assist my needs and helped me . The woman who we turned the keys into was very pleasant and hardworking but was the only employee there that day and couldnt process our return until later that day - which was fine. But I wouldnt recommend returning since it is such a large store/location and so understaffed. If we had needed something other than to drop the truck off, it would have taken a while ( not her fault).Cody W.

I was disappointed with this place when I was on line with U haul placing an order for a truck 17ft truck it did not say anywhere that I had to return the truck back to 3919 E Franklin Blvd, Gastonia, NC. The morning I went to pick up my truck they said they could try and find me another truck for that same day but the odds of that were slim to none, so I had to accept the truck as is and it cost me $ 250 for a one day useCHARLES W.

RUDE staff members. Also did not ensure that I had everything I needed, and I was charged for things I never received. Lazy staff and not detail oriented because they failed to provide all requested items . Also the amount quoted on the phone prior to pick up was NOT honored. Never again will I use uhaul. It wasn't the location that was terrible, your associate was very quick and knowledgeable. But I elected for mobile check-in and it was the worst experience. First trying to find the location scan was impossible it's about the size of a UPC label on the front door I think it should be a much larger sign. I couldn't do the ride share with my phone because there wasn't a scan code anywhere in sight until I found a tiny pic of one on door which didn't work. Workers couldn't find keys to truck. Back and fourth between workers to find keys. Truck was all the way in the back squeezed against other trucks. Truck had hard time getting into gear. Less than 1/4 tank of fuel in it which is just pathetic. I called 2 times that day to make sure truck was ready. Knowing where the keys are, having truck ready and accessible would be a great start. On top of having more than 1/4 tank of fuel in it.JAMES L.

I've already addressed this with Uhaul management and it has been resolved. However, essentially I rented a 10' truck, a utility dolly, furniture pads, and an appliance dolly. When I arrived to pick up my scheduled reservation, the curly haired employee who checked me in told me that they had already rented out the last appliance dolly earlier that day to a walk-in and no other dollys were in house. When I asked why they would allow someone to rent a dolly same day, resulting in someone who was diligent enough to plan ahead, she copped an attitude and said that "She's just a fill in." So, I asked her to call your Belmont location to see if they had any appliance or utility dollies where she proceeded to roll her eyes and have a less than 1 minute conversation and said they didn't have any dollys either. She took the order for the dollies off my reservation and proceeded to print out the paperwork for the rental which told me the truck was in spot M1. When I asked where that might be, she again rolled her eyes and said "Just past the green fence...." When I took the paperwork and key out to go locate spot M1, there was no truck in the M1 spot. Another associate with straight dark hair in a pony tail just happened to be outside looking at an alternate truck, so I asked for assistance as to where my reserved truck was. Her response was, "You see the numbers on top of the trucks?!? Look at your key and find the one that matches...." and walked away... No guidance to which direction I should go or anything at all. I finally found the truck after looking around the parking lot for about 5mins and the truck was parked in L1, not M1. I inspected the outside of the rental truck as requested and proceeded to get in. When I turned the truck on, the gas level was not at 1/2 tank, it was one notch below. I recorded this on the link sent but also went back in to the office area to make sure the associate was aware in the event any paperwork needed to be updated. The same woman with straight dark hair saw me at the register and when I told her the issue, her response was, "Well did you register that in the link we provided you?" in an very unprofessional tone. So I just said whatever and proceeded on my way. When stopping to get gas and fill the truck back up to the level I rented it at, I noticed there was no gas cap [reported to management and they are aware]. The overall experience was just a mess. The lack of confirmed reserved items and the rudeness and nonchalant attitudes of the employees working that day made me question if I wanted to even keep my storage unit at the same location or with Uhaul at all. However, Uhaul Management handled the situation in a very professional, understanding, and suitable way. I appreciate the Management assistance, however I hope to never see either of the rude employees there again. Bad customer service results in loss of revenue. Just sayin...Christopher C.
