This location has plenty of trucks, never any shortage. For the first truck they gave me, the check engine light was on -- the truck was in bad shape. I came back, and they swapped trucks quickly and with no fuss. The second truck was great -- it cornered like it was on rails.MATTHEW G.

I returned and told the young man I could not find the truck. I don't think he should have ask me to find the truck just because they were short staff. Customer service is good. Price wasn't explained in-depth , the 15foot truck I rented needs a brake service, alignment and suspension workâ€¦ rattles and clucks over small bumps in the road at low speeds, slow crank when it's cold as well. Everything went wrong with my UHaul reservation, at every single step. From changing my pick-up location less than 24 hours before my move, to the employee handing me a document with a different drop-off location than I booked 3 weeks prior and telling me they couldn't change it and to call a phone number, to the customer service reps not apologizing for making a clusterf*ck of my move and offering no viable fix to the problems they created, to THEN being told I couldn't drop off on a Sunday when that was my original booking, to the UHaul storage unit I booked not being available when I showed up with a truck full of belongings and hired labor...a total disaster from start to finish. I am moving again in 3 weeks and will not book with you guys. I am telling friends and family and my 5K instagram followers that they can never trust a UHaul reservation. Staff are awesome, friendly and helpful! Locating vehicle spot was challenging. A geo location to where vehicle is parked or a lot map with walking steps highlighted will be very helpful. Customer service is slow and unhelpful. I had to set the alarm off on my rental that I had been trying to turn in for thirty minutes already. Just to get a person to come to the designated service area. I tried to get insurance for the second day of the rental but was told after I already had the trailer hooked up on day two, that I would have to cancel my reservation and start all over to add the coverage. As I was already on a shrinking time frame. I informed the employee that I had full coverage insurance through my own carrier and was told that would work. Instead after I returned the truck and after I had a rock from the road hit the windshield. I was told it's too late and that I owed 630 $for a new windshield. I refuse to be pushed into a corner and will gladly pay my deductible and have the windshield fixed. How can we fix this situation?Shaun O.

The Gas situation? I return truck at same level of fuel as picked up three quarters full. Gage was right on the three quarters spot left truck at pick up about 8 pm sale day? Charged 4 galleons . I rented a truck that was damaged by the previous user. Based on the deduction from my bank account it would appear that my card has been charged for not just the rental of the truck 67,00 $ but additional 209,00 $ WHYJennifer B.
The employee who helped me with my rental was superb. The employee who I first encountered (approx. 5'6" male with mustache) told me that NO vehicles were available at all when I said I didn't have a reservation. I went back to my car and reserved one online, thus making him a liar. He was also the only employee who was not adhering to the State/County policy of wearing masks (how I knew he has a mustache). If U-Haul only wants me to be serviced by going online please make that very visible on the door.Ruby F.

This location repeatedly rents dirty, sloppy vehicles and never puts the equipment people have rented into the trucks (as the app & website advertise for mobile rentals). These are basic services that you would think Uhaul would ensure their employees delivered but for some reason, this location chooses to operate at its lowest rung of ability because there is no one holding them accountable to do BETTER. No one is cleaning the trucks, they're outside on their cell phones and hiding from customers so they don't have to check vehicles in. No one is placing equipment because they're sitting on their behinds in the office acting as if they're overwhelmed due to their own reorganization. Really hoping this place can get some better management or leadership soon or I'm headed back to the Takoma location.Jessica T.

The drop off system needs to be improved as well. I had to drive quite a ways out of my way to find an â€œacceptableâ€ uhaul to leave it at. There was a local uhaul that wouldn't answer their phones / wouldn't accept me dropping off the rental.John B.
This uhaul had more customers than the two people at the desk could handle. While picking up the rental truck I asked for two furniture dolly, the person at the desk added the dolly to the bill then went to retrieve them. He then came back and said they had no more. I asked then to have one hand truck. He placed the hand truck at the door and once I returned the truck I realized he had charged me for two. So I lost 7,00 $ to uhaul.Michael M.

The staff was very helpful. The wait time at the counter was over 10 minutes, mostly because there was only one person there most of the time. There were carts available to move larger items, which was appreciated. The move out experience was excellent. The unit was inspected and an email was sent promptly. Marcus lost our reservation. He booked it over the phone and then failed to finish entering it on his end after the phone call. There was no record of the reservation when we got there (with movers waiting on us), but luckily they had a unit available of the same size. It still took us close to an hour from when we first arrived to when we could begin unloading the truck since we had to fill out a new contract, which messed up due to the credit card reader and we had to fill out all the information twice. There were lots of people waiting in line and many complaints that we heard from other customers about their storage units or truck rentals (we also had a terrible truck rental experience with uhaul - they kept changing and cancelling our truck in the few days prior to the move). Overall, I would never use uhaul again for truck rentals or storage unit. The truck was stolen. And it sat at towing storage for a couple weeks after finding out who stole it. I called several times to get information about where truck was at and everything. They were was supposed to call me back several times and never did. Then take truck back to there facility somewhere in Hyattsville Maryland with all of granddaughter belongings and expect us to go get it. Without them even calling and letting us know they were getting it when it was close to home in the first place. Horrible service. -Employee failed to find my reservation. The personnel at the U-Haul storage location on Chillum Road in Hyattsville, Maryland were pleasant and answered all of my questions. I was disappointed however, that it was not explained to me in advance that in order to get one month free or discounted on my storage unit that a truck would have to be reserved and brought to the Hyattsville location from another U-Haul location. That was not disclosed early on. Therefore, I reserved a truck online from the Hyattsville location planning to drop it off at the same location. Then the same day I came to sign my contract, I was told the truck would've had to come from another location and be dropped off to receive the promotion. Additionally, when I was first given the U-Haul storage access card, I was not shown how to use it and I was not told that I needed a specific lock for the storage unit. While the cashiers/customer representatives were nice, some key information was omitted and I had to keep going back to get the right information or for someone to show me how to do something.Yasmine A. | Premières impressions

There was some confusion with what I was told over the phone and when I got to the actual store. I was told that due to COVID-19 U-Haul was given all customers one month free storage, however when I got to the store on Chillum Rd that was not the case. The salesperson was kind and gave it to me anyway but said that the individuals from the call center work at different locations and that each store runs their own specials. I called the call center a second time about 24-hour storage and I was told that no U-Haul locations offer 24-hour service, but I was told differently at the location where I purchased. Of course the salesperson at the store was right about U-Haul offering 24-hour storage access.
