It was fairly easy to figure out the app.

My time was wasted by CUSTOMER SUPPORT, as this shouldn't even be an acceptable drop off location. Complete hassle and wasted 45 minutes in the cold looking for something that isn't there. Was told that since I signed the contract I'll possibly have to waste more time taking the key back myself. No offer of compensation or help from CS team.
Andrew AIt took over 30 mins to pick up my rental, first of all. You can forget about trying to get help finding movers through their app. I called the movers directly and was able to get a last minute job done quickly and professionally. Exactly what the UHaul location at Jefferson Park DID NOT DO. The movers I hired said they were familiar with the poor service at that location so obviously you need to train your employees better and improve the quality of SERVICE & EFFICIENCY on your app. I will NEVER recommend this location nor using UHaul unless you pay cash at a counter.
Gabriel MI was 1 hour late for my charity event because there was no vehicle for my reservation. Even though my reservation was confirmed I had to wait over 20 minutes to speak with a customer service rep in order to get a truck. It took an hour to finally get a truck and I was late and our charity event was held up because of it. You "Price Guarantee" was also NOT honored. I was on time for my reservation and you did NOT have a vehicle ready. The customer service rep just told me the vehicle wasn't available. I had to insists she fins me a new vehicle. Your policy states I get a $50 refund if you fail to meet time, place and equipment size. You didn't;t have a truck available at the place I booked for the time I reserved, setting an entire charity event behind and your customer service rep said she couldn't offer the Price Guarantee to me. Even for drop off, the app wouldn't save the pictures of the truck and I had to keep doing it. Almost 30 minutes just to drop it off. Absolutely not user friendly, slow customer service with a vehicle that needs maintenance because the engine was struggling to even accelerate to 15 miles per hour. I WILL NOT be using this location again.

Linda RThe online reservation process was straightforward. Everything else was extremely poor and unacceptable. I had to go through the verification process twice because the app crashed twice. The actual verification process was the worst experience. The call back process was wasted effort, I spent more than 20 minutes on hold to speak to someone, and ended up chatting online with support to push them to complete the verification process. Without my push, the verification process would have not been done and I would have not been able to get my truck rental. Its was beyond painful and something I would never want to go through again. the verification process ended up taking more than 45 minutes which impacted my ability to complete my move timely. I'd like to ask for a $25 future credit due to the inconvenience and additional time incurred for my rental that was not necessary.
Ario TI had to move things from my garage and I also had to move my motorcycle so not only do I have a great storage facility but the trailer for the motorcycle was also great becaue it cost less than it would have to have it towed .
Donald M | Déménagement en ligneThis was our first rental unit, was great to have a local spot nearby. Was clean and well maintained. Only downside is the elevator needs to be updated. The gate and controls are dated. Sometimes needed to run the stairs to retrieve it because other tenants left it on other floors. An automated elevator door would solve the problem. Also concerned because the elevator pit floods frequently.

Raquel C | Expérience généraleThis is not regarding the storage unit even though I had a ton of difficulty getting one. After I did, the staff wasn't clear on what I should do. They didn't give me enough directions and I ended up having to drive to a different location to be able to get into my storage unit. On top of this they also called me 10 min before my truck rental pickup and said my truck was under repair and the next closest one to me that was available was 45 min away. They told me I could pick that up and drop it off at a closer facility however they would charge me more and it would then go over $100.... This was complete bs and I am never going to use uhaul again.

The truck was clean and well-maintained. We had no issues loading and driving the truck. The returning the truck there were no issues.

MARIO G | Expérience généraleThey never called to confirm the details of my reservation so the day of pick up was a complete mess. The lady who worked at the location said she couldn't help us and told us to use the app. When I called customer service my reservation was messed up and said I was renting the truck until 2/2028 (4 years) they acted like I was the one who messed it up, when I made the reservation I was only allowed a 24hr choice (which I chose). I've used U-Haul many times for moving and this time is my last. On top of that I was charged way over the amount I agreed too online.
EDGAR SI was never sent a code for the key box and was sent to 3 different stores before someone could tell me how to get the key. I had over $50 dollars in Uber rides between the three places. It took 2 and a half hours to finally get a truck. Then I got charged $10 for going 10 miles over. I'd ask for my money back, but I'm sure I'll get the run around. I will never use U-Haul again.

EXTENDING it by HALF AN HOUR where your system gave errors is how you pay back the inconvenience? HORRIBLE SERVICE! AND the fact that we put in wayyy more gas the last time, rented the EXACT same van, NO ONE ELSE DROVE it you can see if in the photos and mileage and you won't reimburse us. WILL NEVER RENT FROM UHAUL EVER AGAIN. signed...VERY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER...not that your corporate bean counters would care.

Jennie TA total nightmare renting a parking spot from U-haul to store my car….since may of this year I've been trying to get credit back to my account bc being enrolled in auto payments this unscrupulous corporation kept taking monthly payments at excess of $100plus dollars every month til present even tho I removed my car from their premises and canceled thru their 800 number with main office bc loco office was closed by time got car running; I work in a commercial cargo boat and I'm gone 3-6 months at a time and was only able to find out about this now that I'm back and found out all their Hateful harassment threatening letters demanding more payments along with late fees even tho all they had to do if they were not as lacy as caw was to look at their cameras and see that my car is been gone for more than 4 months. Pls stay away from these MOB loco office.

Laura GI found the Foster Avenue facility clean and well lighted, and the staff was helpful. I did have a problem trying to check in a couple times as the computer security system did NOT recognize my access code ("CODE UNKNOWN" it said, or "CODE NOT RECOGNIZED") even though my account WAS PAID IN FULL, AND I DID REMEMBER TO CHECK OUT AFTER PREVIOUS CHECK IN TIMES, so the system may need checking into as to why it did NOT let me access the facility with my code. The staff provided me an access code CARD with my code on it after I notified them of this problem, and there were no more problems for me getting into and out of the facility after that, otherwise I would have given 5 stars instead of 4 stars. Other than that, all was good for my move which was why I need the storage temporarily. Thank You to the staff at U-Haul, and to you, General Manager Mr. Michael Rodriquez. I appreciate you and your staff for being there for me in my times of need.

First, I requested the Skokie location to which they said they couldn't service my request so they sent me to Jefferson Park, which was 30 minutes away. I went to JP for my pickup, completed the self-service, but got an error that my "vehicle was not ready" and that I had to "go inside for assistance". THERE WAS NO INSIDE! It's a self-service location, so I had to call customer service -- which lasted nearly an hour -- and they had to refer me to the location a mile away. Because of the inconvenience and the inevitable extra gas mileage costs this would incur, I asked for compensation. They went ahead and just gave me a truck from the location I was already at. Like okay, you could have given me the truck the whole time, you just switched it up because I asked for a discount. Got it. Few other issues: never received my dolly, which greatly hindered my moving experience, AND, the side view mirrors were jammed, I couldn't adjust them, so I literally had to drive on the highway with a prayer. Literally so hazardous. I do not recommend uhaul to anyone.
Rakin HPlease have furniture pads in the vehicle. The vehicle was clean, but not maintained - Oil was at 0 %, I kept getting driver door vehicle alert no matter how hard I shut it.

Brittany MI chose the location very close to my house and I needed to get my truck using the online platform. I had to call in order to get my truck because the online platform kept saying the equipment was not reserved. They wanted me to go to another location to get the truck and they FINALLY were able to get me the information to get my truck from my original location. This should have taken 5 minutes and it took over 30 minutes because of an error. I will never use this location again.
Jennifer KWell, I did not know this U Haul had no personnel there. Ended up driving to a different location where I was told I received an email with instructions. It went to spam so I didn't know. Drove back to the first location, unlocked the lock but the door with the key was jammed in the key and wouldn't open. A UHaul employee just happened to be there but could not get it open either. Ended up finding a piece of trash on the ground we could stick into one end of the box and managed to get it open. Ended up about 20-25 min late which meant we were a little late on the return and got charged a late fee. Oh well. Not our fault but the employees we talked to were great. Helpful
Don OFirst time using mobile check-in / pickup feature - generally good, although a little scary regarding confirming accountability for condition of van and clarity of charges.. Nicer when there's a person there to directly confirm everything and not leave wondering if some issue will come up later, or how charges will ultimately stack up. But in terms of convenience, it was pretty good. Thanks much, will use again.

Then, when I finally got through, the lock box wouldn't open. It took me 45 minutes to get the van. This was never so time consuming and frustrating in the past at U haul. Then, when I returned the van, the same app troubles persisted. I had to take 4 sets of pictures before the app worked and then I still couldnt get the lock box to open. Ihad to drive to a sister location that was manned by real people to drop off the key. So much time wasted. I will never use U Haul again.

I had to call a different location because there was no one presently available at the location on Foster Ave. Someone from the Cicero location had to come to me since there was no key in the locker. Overall, was too complicated and would not recommend Mobile Pick up to anyone.

Dan RPutting the keys in the wrong lockbox, not having anyone to answer calls at the Uhaul support number, and the manager not answering his phone or returning a phone call for 45 minutes led to me being delayed and making my friend who was assisting me move late for work. I'm sure the people who work at the site are otherwise great, but I caught quite a raw deal from trusting rental to go smoothly.

Was on hold on the phone to try to connect with customer service for over 45 minutes, only to be told that it was past my reservation time and that they needed to update my reservation before I could check in. I should have received a notification that there was an issue when I was using your application and should not have needed to call customer service. Also, because it was within a short time period of the reservation, there should have been no issue with checking in online. Finally, it should have been made clear that this location had no employees and that check in had to be done via your app. I might have chosen a different location where I could have dealt with a live person and checked in the old fashioned way.
Alan FMobile App dose not work very well!!! This is the second time that happened to me and I wasted about an hour picking up and another hour for drop off.
ZBIGNIEW SIt was frustrating during pick up and drop off. Even though I had tested and made sure my location service was working on my mobile, it would not work on the haul site. Neither did my alternate contacts input clearly. It took 20 min to get it to work. Then drop off was just as bad. It would not confirm I was at the location and there was no way for me to prove I was there and the van was returned. I ended up locking the van and just returning the keys hoping that was ok. I won't ever use a location again without actual personnel from haul there.
jeff dI did everything the web site told me to do to rent the van, but when I got there to pick it up (not business hours, but the app allows for that) I needed two forms of ID that I hadn't known I would need. If I had known I could have arranged that before coming. Fortunately I was able to provide phone numbers of friends who could identify me, but if they had not been available I would have had to go back home to get documents. If the web site gave me any clue about that, it was not well-displayed, but I doubt it was there.

Like I paid for you guys services with the assumption I can come and go as I please for my belongings but wasn't able to which made moving a hassle for me. I'm currently sitting here in the parking lot at 12:30am thinking I was going to be able to access my storage unit but was welcomed with "access denied, area closed". Can you please fix it?
Emmanuel M | Déménagement en ligneThis was bad experience to me with U-haul in this location. I went to the location address just to find out it's just a storage, there is an office but it's empty. I rang the bill and call but no answer, then I saw on the door a sign says the office on a different address and I had to drive to there. I went inside the office and there was a line and only one employee to help and other one just standing doing nothing. And just before my turn "their system went down" and the employee said " the system is down and there is nothing we can do to help you" after few minutes they sent me to the manager office to help me. I gave him my information and he said I need to go back to the other location " after waiting in the line for 35 minutes" to get the truck from there and do the check in by the phone even though I did choose to check-in in the office and not by the phone and no one said sorry or anything for the inconvenience. And the manager lied about giving me and extra hour as they wasted one hour to get my truck and I was asked to return the truck by the old time without the extra hour.
Amjad AMy primary issue was billing. I really needed the autopay option, was confirmed that it would go into effect on a CC that was, in fact, on file for many months of payments. I needed to end contract only because I lost several months of late fees because the autopay system failed

However, they did not provide any information, such as billing, entry information, etc. What information they provided was incorrect. This is the only business in America that doesn't have the ability to provide bills? This is basic business practice! The customer service is horrible! Only the manager has a clue how to speak to customers or solve problems. The facility is rough around the edges. The elevator is poorly maintained and there are no efforts at cleanup.

Jameson OFirst time using a uhaul self-serve location. Was slightly confused on the key retrieval and return process. I was under the impression I'd return the key to the same box I received the key from, but when it wouldn't open with same passcode, I left the key in the after-hours return box. Still, as I write this, I'm not sure where the correct key return is. Tried calling the office, but was told there was a 20 min wait for live person. Would use again though. Wish I had clarification on the return key though.
Brendan MThe van keys were not in the drop box - had to wait for employee to arrive to get them and that set my schedule back. Van seats had pet hair on them. Upon return, website would not accept my location - had to call manager cell phone to ensure the van was returned without extra fees.
Paul AMake the instructions easier to follow or understand to return the keys. Our keys for the rental was put in the wrong location and required an employee to come and open a box for us which caused a 25 minute delay.
Alex DI reserved the truck online the day before. When I got to the location there was no one working so we had no idea how to get the keys to the truck. We tried calling the number on the door but they were not helpful. We had to re-reserve a truck online and then were able to get the keys from lockbox to use the truck. I was unable to get the truck back by the time I Had originally intended (5:30pm). I called the uhual office and they said as long as I had the truck back by 10:30 am the next day I would not be charged extra for the rental. I returned the car a few hours later. When I got my email receipt of the rental I was charged for two periods so it cost me double the price.

Amanda PAbsolutely horrible experience returning the truck. Uhaul wouldnt recognize my location (enabled location services, tried on 2 browsers, reset phone). There was no one at the location to help. I called and banged on every door for 10 minutes. Empty. I tried calling the uhaul customer service number, but was on for 10 minutes with no answer. I was almost late for work because of it. Truly awful and made me want to quit using uhaul
Abby TCancelling an off-site storage should not require a client to have to stop in to say I've moved out. No employee can verify your claim at the moment anyway. What's the point in wasting ones gas and time? Why can't a client upload a picture showing an empty storage locker w/date and timestamp?

But the bathroom needed a bigger trash bin cause once you do t have access to a large garbage bin I saw paper on the floor and overflow garbage on a small garbage container. And a strong pure urine smell that I use my one cleaning supply cause the smell was very bad.

Also was harassed by a guy that came by asking for a phone charger who proceeded to curse me out (check the cameras). I finally received my confirmation code for the lock box and the key was not in the box. Had to wait 20 more minutes for the manager to arrive with the key for my truck.
Mariel VThe location was acceptable: neat and clean, open with good visibility from the street. The vehicle was clean and ran fine. However, there were no instructions on site to explain how to use the vehicle. I ended up asking someone using the storage area for help. He explained that I should use the app and follow the steps presented to access the van. Nothing I received previously from UHaul had explained this process clearly. At minimum, there should be a sign posted directing customers to download the app to start the process.

People ask me all the time where management is, so I have to tell them they are on Cicero Avenue. Overall not a bad experience. Would use again if needed.

Daniel KThere were no keys to the truck the first time I went. I stood in the rain for half an hour trying to figure it out, had to come the next day for the truck, and somehow was still charged full price. Would not recommend to anyone.
Daniel SI'm ok with the whole "rent by cell phone" thing, but I could see where this would be difficult for many people, especially older folks. However, now that I've done it twice, I would definitely do it again.

David LIt was a very long process. It took almost 20 min for my approval after I gave all my information to get my box code. After I was approved and given the box code, I was there almost an hour trying to open the lock and the whole time it was because the lock number was wrong. It was box #2 with a code of 636 and I on accident changed the top 6 to a 9 and it opened. The actual code was 936. I wasted a whole hour of my 4 hours I had placed and I had to rush to get everything done in 3 hours instead of 4. Prior to getting the box open, I called and was transferred to soooo many places and everyone put me on hold for a long time or couldn't help me.
Yesenia HMobile pick up process was straight forward, fast, easy, and convenient. I would recommend a quick tutorial at time of booking, would be helpful for those that are less tech saavy.

Alexandra MFix the app. It wouldn't let me go through the pick up process for half an hour until it finally started working. Also, after getting my code to the lock box, it was empty. No key. Luckily a worker came and had to get me the key but this was already 45 minutes into my rental.

carl r | Expérience généraleThe self-service option is good to skip lines and wait times, however, there are a lot of requirements that we were not aware of, which slowed us down. Probably our own fault for not reading all the requirements before we got there, but was somewhat frustrating.

From booking vehicles that were not available to speaking to representatives on 3 separate phone calls just to cancel a bad reservation and get into another one. PLEASE listen to all of the audio recordings.
