Lazy customer service representatives. I can clearly tell that there is a lack of leadership and effective communication at this location. This is the second time I rent from Lanham and both experiences have been poor. Representative tried to charge me more for my rental. When the truck was given to me, the mileage in the car did not match the mileage on the sales contract. (Truck had 33 more miles than reported). The representative tried to make me pay for the discrepancy. This location needs new management and a better trained staff.

Employee who hooked-up the autotransport that rented double chained my truck hitch with 2 chains same side, 1 hole. I couldn't unhook during after hours return; had to rehookup to return later. Upon my return, I ran into the person who/whom had done this explain the situation; he couldn't undo it ,but after a couple of attempts at the clamp nut, it was removed. Employee said his name was/is John Lewis!

This location got an average rating because they consistently do not have an employee at the receiving station (during business hrs.) when the vehicle is returned and you are left waiting for someone to check in the vehicle an extended time. Other than that their services are efficient, friendly and excellent.

Please ensure when renting any of the U-Haul trucks or vans, that they do not have trash in them before renting to the next customer. I rented a cargo van and the previous renter left a coke cola cup in the side panel and I did not realize until I started loading the van. Otherwise, my experience was great and I will use this particular U-Haul center in the future and recommend as well. Thanks.

My only complaint would be that I was not aware of A 24/7 pick up and the process to pick up my vehicle, which was stressful. Also, when returning the vehicle the mobile app did not take me through all of the prompts to properly return the vehicle.

A long wait time on the line. Very frustrating. Your store opens from 7:00 am and i returned the truck 8:30 am, however, i was charged #20.00 for After Hours Service Fee. That is corporate cheating. I refueled the truck to it pick up capacity, but i was informed it was less and thus i was charged $17.00. That is corporate cheating.

The tank fuel mileage I met inside the Van is totally wrong Different to my Ducument you guys gave me, I make complain before I left you also take pictures as well, I mistakenly fill up Your Tank gas with execees of $10 gas. Horrible!! Terrible! Frustrating. No one answers the phone. All calls are routed to national call center. You will never get a call back (how do I know? I called 4 times and still never received a call back) They just bill you for extra days that aren’t even warranted. Oh and did I mention when I tried to call to straighten it out for the FORTH time, I still didn’t get any answer locally? Yep, you guessed it... back to your call center!! This is by far the worst customer service experiences I’ve dealt with in U-Haul. I have to rent another trailer this weekend and this would be my drop off point, so I’ve chosen to go with a back up plan. Unfortunately, a new plan, outside of U-Haul because I don’t want to deal with this specific rental place again. By the way, it’s the worse place to drop off a trailer. No space in drop off and when people unhook them, they just roll backwards. One still moving when it was left. Good thing there are retainer barriers to stop them. Sorry U-haul, I really liked using you except for this place and they have caused me to seek other ways to do what I need. But thanks to all the OTHER U-Haul rental places. They truly have been great and responsive. A shame one place ruins it for everyone. Thank you.

Continue the Outstanding Customer Service and Friendly Atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door. Then continuing the check out process the service was excellent. I had left keys to a BMW 750Li in the vehicle I rented and they immediately contacted me and was overwhelmingly pleased to assist we with getting my personal belongs back in my possession. I couldn't ask or hoped for a more pleasant experience. Excellent Job and Performance.

I like the location and the staff. My biggest problem is getting out of the facility to travel East on 450, which is the way I am going 98% of the time. It's almost impossible to make the turn. Also took a while to turn the van back in. We had to wait about 15 minutes before someone came out, but I guess that's a staffing issue.

I have twice rented a moving truck from here, overall everything was good and easy to rent, but the truck was dirty on the inside and smoke from the tail pipe when I started the truck. They didn't offer me enough miles for anyone move. This place was easy to find and the staff was very nice and professional.

They are always trying to charge you for something that you don't use, charge me for Dali that I didn't use. Waited in line for 20 min. Because there was only one person when I opened the storage they charge me for milage didn't use because no 1 told me that they closed at a certain time so I had to take the truck back home so they charge me for mileage due to their incompetence. So glad I got my belongings out of there.

Great price! Excellent customer service! Perhaps communicate better potential extra fees at the time of reservation. I had scheduled delivery 4 days after the 30-day storage but was never told that it was an additional month rent for that extra 4 days since they don’t prorate. Fortunately, I called 10 days before scheduled delivery just to ask for the arrival time. The person who took the call noticed the extra days and told me about the extra month rental fee. I asked if the boxes can be delivered sooner to avoid the extra rent and she was able to work things out! I was very pleased!

I was very disappointed because I was not given the truck that I had reserved I was given a smaller truck that was meant for a one bedroom when I had a two-bedroom the end result was my furniture being damaged because I only wanted to make one trips versus to trips due to me having to fill the tank back up to where it was and to save money I only wanted to make one trip if I would have had the truck that was reserved for me I don't think my end result would have been what it was this was my first time utilizing Uhaul and I don't think that I'll ever do it again nor will I suggest or advise a friend to use Uhaul

While everything was perfect the equipment (truck) was not well maintained as it seems to have alignment issues when driving and it was shaking. I actually had to cancel the storage that I was to use out on exit 11a and pick something in Greenbelt due to the fact that I was not sure it would make it there. Please look into the truck. Thanks

So I still give a five-star rating. Here's why. I picked up a 6x12 enclosed hauler for the day to move furniture. The roll-up type door only went up about 24" and jammed. We had to crawl under the door and shut ourselves inside with a flashlight to determine that one of the door rollers had jammed. With a wrench and some prying we got the door to grudgingly open and were able to complete the move. Spoke with the manager on-site upon return, and he was very nice and helpful, he lowered my charge from the $29.95 for the 12 footer to the base charge for the 8 footer which is $14.95, for our aggravation. Satisfied customer. I'm confident they will service the affected door roller and be vigilant in checking these in the future.

The only thing that comes to mind in regards to improving service at Uhaul. When a customer reserves a truck at one location (Lanham, MD), the customer does not expect for their reserved truck to be given away to someone else. In doing so, the customer that reserved the truck is now inconvenienced. In order for he/she to obtain a much needed truck he/she would then have to either go to another Uhaul location to pick up a truck or he/she just might go to another company all together. This is what I experienced during my move. I had to get a 10 foot truck as opposed to a 15 foot truck I reserved; which caused my move to be delayed by two days. Uhaul did accommodate me by extending my truck rental for free and by honoring the $50 reservation guarantee. Which I greatly appreciated but I was unable to turn my keys in to my property managment company by the scheduled date due to having to make multiple trips to the storage in order to clear my possessions from my house because the truck was much smaller than I originally reserved.

Everything at this location was great. From a broader perspective, I recommend the following: 1. Allow drivers to connect their phones hands-free to the truck. It helps to focus on the road while getting directions, etc. from someone else. 2. Have an electronic way to adjust the mirrors. 3. Consider creating your own digital assistant or partnering with someone who has a digital assistant like Amazon. It would be helpful to drivers.

Just a general comment, it feels a bit rude that the renter must pay by the mile AND pay for gasoline. The $19.95 base rental rate quickly becomes irrelevant.
