The site was no longer staffed. They raised the rent on me right after I moved in. Employees at the nearest location were generally too preoccupied to help me. Confusions with my debit card led to several late fees.

I didn't give an answer for #5 because the storage unit is in an outside facility. So I guess it could say it was clean in that there wasn't a lot of trash & grass area appeared well maintained, but when I think of the mice droppings in my unit around my personal items it's hard to say yes to this question.

The general manager was so kind and helpful with me finding the perfect storage unit and the right truck for my move! This is my first time moving so I appreciate the wonderful help and advice. All staff was alert and welcoming when I walked in the door despite it being busy.

People at the office were great, but the app and move out process was not smooth - App was constantly down and did not work when I needed to vacate the unit. Ended up being charged late fees but this was resolved by the office staff quickly. It's funny to me that this survey doesn't mention the app which is the only thing that caused trouble

There was one glitch at the end- when I arrived (with a moving crew) to empty the locker, my locker was double locked with a note that I was denied access for lack of payment. This was not true: I had a receipt for the month's automatic payment on my phone. Next, the office at the Simmons Lane lockers is now closed, so I had to leave and go to the Broadway office to resolve the problem, leaving my movers waiting. However, the mistake was discovered and easily resolved, so it was not a major inconvenience.

It's easy to find storage units. But it is not easy finding consistently helpful and friendly staff, which this location has. They do a wonderful job, which is why I've used this location on and off for the last 4 years.

Would have given 5 stars but someone moved into my spot while I was out and the staff couldn't get them to move. I had the spot from when the place opened and it was very convenient. Afterwards I kept being moved around...not so convenient

It leaked and they had changed the lo KS on all the u it's and had the keys for the tenant butnever told them it was changed. I closed this account over 3 years ago and still being billed after speaking with multiple representatives who each claimed to handle it. Very disappointing 

Manager that checks in the vehicle always charges for fuel even with the vehicle being returned with the proper amount of fuel. This is the 2nd time he's done that. Hopefully the other Menands location opens soon so I don't have to rent from this location again.

Reserved a 15' truck. Got there to pick it up. Had to wait 20 minutes for the person to show up to work. Sign on door said they opened at 7am (that was the time I showed up to pick the truck up per my reservation) but no one was there until 720. Once we were able to go in we were told the truck was not reserved to us. I had a confirmation number and a screen shot of the reservation on my phone and showed him. He apologized but said we were unable to use the 15' truck as they only had one and it was reserved to another person at 9/930. We told them we only needed it to move a couple things and would have it back by 9. We were still told we could not use the truck WE RESERVED. My fiancé and I both started to get frustrated and asked what we could do since we were already at this location. We were told we could use the van ( That is MUCH smaller) and it would be 20 dollars for the day and we wouldn't be paying for mileage but we would just need to return it will a full tank of gas (which is normal) we agreed and started filling out paperwork. We were then asked for how many miles we would be going. We didn't really have time to be fooling around as it was already 40 minutes past our pick up time. We signed paperwork and were told for the inconvenience we would have some money taken off once we get back for not being able to use the truck. Once we dropped it off a different guy check us back in and told us there was no notes in the system about money off for the wrong moving vehicle and then was told we needed to pay 85$ for the van. We explained what happened earlier in the day and that we were told there is no charge for mileage but since the first employee was incompetent and didn't put notes into the system there was nothing he could do. I normally use U-Haul to move stuff as they are more reasonable then some other company's. But this experience has made me think twice about using U-Haul the next time I need to move a couple things.

The only issue we had was with returning the truck. When you return the truck it asks for your location services and there's not a strong connection in that location. We followed the instructions to allow Uhaul to pick up our location, but it didn't work. We tried from two phones. The Call center gentlemen was very helpful and gave us the instructions. I didn't need the truck for the second day so I wanted to make sure I returned it properly and w/in time . My suggestion to the IT dept. when returning rather than having it pick up a WiFi location just have the ability to select the location where you're returning the truck, like you do when you place the order. Other than that everything was smooth and the gentleman in the office was kind and helpful. I would recommend to a friend and will be a repeat customer when I need to move my belongings out of storage. Merci.

1. The customer service was terrible. 2. You should warn people up front the additional items they may need to provide if the person can't "verify" them up front. Most people don't carry a passport or have 2 people ready next to the phone

The staff is top notch and everyone I encountered, especially the gentleman who helped when there was confusion over my rented space location, were very courteous and helpful. I would've stayed over the winter but we recently purchased property where I will store my boat during the cold months. I will be back in the spring if there is room.

the app did not work when trying to return the keys. My cellular data was fine, and I even had wi-fi from the u-hail location, but I couldnt upload a photo that was requested. Please improve the app. I will choose Penske next time.

I was originally supposed to return my uhaul to another location in Albany. I called customer service to have this changed to the Menands location, a bit closer to my home. The person said it was taken care of. It turns out that it was not and the Menands location was not expecting me. In addition, the employees at the Menands location did not come out to greet me even though I pulled up to the sign that states "wait in your equipment and someone will come out to help you return your uhaul." So, I sat there for 10 minutes. When I finally went inside, I saw that both employees were sitting at their desk with no other customers in the store. They weren't even on their computers doing work. This was incredibly infuriating.

The pictures are good, but they don't represent the condition of the windshield once you are in the vehicle. As I looked at the picture, things looked good, but yet there was crack and while from a rock in the windshield. But once you complete the visual inspection from the front of the vehicle, there is no easy way to see or document the issue.

I reserved my UHaul over 1 week in advance to moving. We had a very busy day planned and we're on a strict schedule. I filled out my whole check in, just for the keys to not be in the lock box. after calling customer service, I had been redirected 15 minutes AWAY from my house, to this location. This added extra mileage to my service that I did NOT intend for. The whole experience was a mess and I am extremely disappointed.

I needed help from the roadside service which I paid for according to my contract and they put me on hold for over 2hrs. I had to call a toll service which assisted me in speaking with a person and assisting me within an hour. THUMBS DOWN FOR UHAUL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE!

Slight issue closing the unit because the locking bar wasn’t fully opened when the door was so it got stuck when the door went down, unit was well lit even after dark and is a great location...the man at the counter was super helpful at finding a unit that fit the size of our needs :)

The size of the unit worked well for my materials. I used the unit for a year. During move-out day, there was a dead mouse under my Christmas tree bag. Totally gross. Staff were always nice and helpful.

My trip to start a storage was slightly off. I had to call the number for the person to come back to the office and he declined twice. So I decided to take a ride around the back to see if they were coming after waiting so I get to where my current storage unit is and there he is entertaining a female customer and had the nerve to tell me once I pulled up that there should be someone in the office. I get rushed back up to the office to find that the door was open and there indeed was another person in the office. He was on his personal laptop and looked displeased when I walked in. They poorly handled the transaction in general I needed the storage unit so I wasn't so bothered I knew a survey would come along and I would voice my opinion there. Steve is usually the one I deal with.

I honestly can not suggest a way to improve the process. Renting and returning a truck was a breeze and significantly better than surrounding branches. Left the site with a great feeling about it.
