It has been a pleasant experience over all. Alexis and her staff are personable and professional. Alexis went out of her way on our moving day which is typically a stressful day. When schedules started getting out of line for us she stepped in and made suggestions. I do have to comment on one issue that occurred during the two weeks with uhaul. This was a local move and I rented a van on several different days. Once I reserved a van in the AM for that afternoon to pick up new furniture I just purchased. On line it showed there was one van available. I called just to verify my reservation and the one van being there. I was told by the young man answering the phone that if someone comes off the street they will get that van before me so he can't guarantee it will be there. …..what would be the point of a reservation then? Perhaps he was a new employee. But the positive experience outweighed the single negative one. I would recommend this particular Uhaul facility to everyone! totally disregarded the order placed online, didn't have dolly for move. Belinda was very rude and unprofessional in the way she handled things and had to be asked to call another center to get a dolly. i have had 2 bad experiences with Uhaul online orders and actual store equipment with no notice beforehand. Once having to go to 2 out of town stores per their employees and still not getting a truck although promised they would have them when I got there. Things have changed and not for the betterAnna S.

The representative was excellent, this rating has nothing to do with him. I arrived at 2:30 to pick up my reserved and confirmed 15' truck to be told there are no 15' trucks at the location for me. The only truck available was a 10'. The truck was too small for my move. I was unable to complete my move and now will need another truck this week to complete. The hired movers can only do it during the day on Thursday, which means I will lose time at work, and incur more moving expenses. The truck had many warning messages on the dashboard display. The vehicle was clean. However had I known the air conditioning wasn't working for my July 26 rental I would not have taken it. It was a terribly hot day and when I got back and told the manager, who was excellent by the way, she said something along the lines of â€œagain? The employee told me there was x amount of gas and to bring it back with that amount. I only drove 35 miles. I put 2 gallons of gas in to bring the gauge back to the same amount. I was late charged $24 for four more gallons of gas. So the truck needed 6 gallons of gas to go 35 miles. That's less then 6 miles per gallon and ridiculous.Robert C.

Overall service was okay. Paper work was ready when I arrived. The truck had minor damage to the side trim that was not marked, a staff member came out checked it an marked it. They cost me my business cu, I rented a unit and when I went in to finalize the agreement they gave it to someone else cuz upur staff isn't trained properly. So mot only did I wist a weekend renting h a truck and packing up all my stuff to move but I lost out on all my scheduled jobs due yo not have the proper storage to be able to access it and do my work. I wasny able to make ip for the list time moneycand jobs and lost my business. U-Haul needs to improve the on-line reservation system and confirm the availability of equipment. I ordered a 17' truck, which wasn't available, so they gave me a 15' truck. I ordered an appliance dolly and they didn't have the equipment. I ordered 36 moving pads and they only had 18. If I use U-Haul again, I will not use your on-line system and call the actual location to confirm the availability of equipment. I give the location a B and your U-Haul website a D-. Having no lights inside the actual storage units themselves prevented me from being able to see anything in there and not be able to go through items or retrieve things I needed. I thought the units were a bit pricey from where I started. I couldn't negotiate that I offered almost 400 per month income and knew as I told management I could guarantee a few years, 4k per year, thousands through the years and should have had some sort of discount: faithful payments for specified time, senior, AAA etc. Everyone is friendly and helpful and that is important to me. Having no interior unit lighting really is not ok for the amount paid each month for large units. I did appreciate the bait traps all around to help with rats and mice from ruining furniture etc. I had no evidence of damage from varmints. That is a super plus.Laura H. | Expérience générale
The U-Haul facility on Newfield Street is exceptional. The last few weeks I've had rent trucks and every other reservation I made with U-Haul at other locations failed. Either the truck was suddenly not there truck was never there to begin with. The ladies at Newfield Street went above and beyond. I go to pick up my truck and they tell me they double booked the truck so even though I booked it for 24 hours, I had to return it within 6 for the next person they booked over my time slot. They tell me my inbox was full when they tried calling. So they couldn't text, email, or try calling again? HORRIBLE customer service. So I canceled the truck because I needed it the full 24 hours I reserved it for and was sent 40 min away for the only available truck which was smaller than what I originally reserved. I was also charged 3 times for the one truck and was also charged for the furniture dolly I reserved but never received. HORRIBLE business model horrible experience NEVER using UHaul again. I will be telling everyone I know never to use this horrible company ever again as well.Madisyn M.

Fortunately the woman we dropped our truck off to was understanding about our situation with the facility we picked the truck up from. We were unable to do an after hour drop off because we weren't informed that we would need to call them before they closed to let them know. The unit we rented was not clean when we moved in, we had to sweep and remove some left over items. Also, the unit looks like it was a larger unit that was subdivided and the door was made of plywood and needed repair. It did lock, but it wasn't exactly in great shape. We had over $3k in damages due to rodent infestation! Our brand new couch was completely damaged. We were told we couldn't leave it at the dumpster, even though there was already furniture there. The staff overall were friendly and quick when it came to renting and moving out but the storage facility is absolutely horrible. For the amount of money paid out every month it was not worth it. The sliding shed door didn't close all the way. All my boxes on floor were mildewed and had to throw away over half of our clothes and towels. When I called to complain I was told that's how they close and they couldn't guarantee there would be no water damage and last and DEFINITELY not least the mice/rat issue is terrible!!! Between the rat droppings EVERYWHERE & they ate through a lot of our things from coats to shoes! So between throwing 70 % of our belongings away and paying $174 monthly we lost A LOT of money and personal belongings. The staff was friendly and helpful. The units, however, were not the best that I have ever seen. The first one we looked at still had a few pieces of junk left in it from the old tenant. It was probably never cleaned after they checked out. The one we actually rented was still not clean either, it had not been swept out, we had to do that. Also, the door to the unit is only a plywood door (it's a door from an inside hallway) and it was in a bit of disrepair. From day 1 moving my belongings into this particular storage facility I had problems thatNO ONE would address. I had a problem with the mechanism where you attach your lock to so that your belongings are safe. It was bent and we had to put my belongings into the facility while bending down to get under the door that would only go half way up. I was reassured that it was going to be fixed right away. After a month if not hearing from anyone about fixing the mechanism I called and was told a message was being left for the manager of the facility as well as the person who does all of their repair work. Another month went buy and I was told that there was never any complaint put in the system regarding the lock. I made another complaint and waited 2 weeks with no communication from anyone. I called UHAUL customer service and made a complaint which I was reassured someone would call me on the next 24 hours. I did not here from the manager until 4 days later and she promised me that I would get a call so I could come out while her repairman fixed tge problem. Another 2 weeks went by and no communication from anyone again. Well you get the idea. Tge unit lock was NEVER fixed. And upon moving out 2 RATS came out of my unit while we were moving my belongings out. BAD MANAGEMENT- TERRIBLE UOKEEP OF PROPERTY IN ALL ASPECTS. I will NEVER use UHAUL for any of my storage needs again and have told my family and as I go I will continue to tell EVERYONE I know.Sherry C. | Expérience générale

Safety within the fencing and gate seems very good. Location is central and convenient within Middletown. The experience was overall pretty good. I don't really have any experience with other facilities to compare what is average, above average, or below average. I'm sure you know that a new facility just opened on Washington Street. It offers more spacious driveway and site layout without the added challenge of truck rentals. Your prices are high but were competitive when I searched - they are high everywhere due to overwhelming demand and insufficient supply. I hope the new place on Washington Street helps meet the demand locally within this lucrative industry! Your staff was kind and helpful always, seem to do their best to juggle many tasks simultaneously. My last day there was frustrating as my card to open the gate did not work but the gate was opened for me timely when I arrived. It does seem to open very slowly and close before all vehicles can exit at times. There were however backups of vehicles trying to get in and out while I was there and at departure. It WAS the 1st of the month, perhaps a busy day for this business. Others seemed to be equally frustrated and honking. I had 2 vehicles join me, one with a trailer in order to move my belongings out of the unit. Both honked for some time upon arrival, then had to call me to go to the office to request the gate be opened. The driver with the trailer was behind another honking and waiting car therefore stuck with his trailer still on the street! The system of honking for the only staff person to open the gate for each entry and departure (as not everyone has a card, and mine did not work) seemed to be problematic not just for us but for others too that day. Add moving trucks coming and going this seems like it would be more so, though I only saw one that day parked next to the office for a while. Due to the busy Newfield Street location and a short driveway on the street side of the gate this is especially problematic. The aisles for vehicles are challenging especially with trucks coming and going; the ones around the sides of your lot seem very narrow. At entry I could never seem to get close enough to the swipe pad so had to open my car door, get halfway out of the vehicle and reach to use the swipe. I've seen others struggle trying too. Overall, the two people I worked with were really helpful and apologetic, which went a long way in making it a good experience. Everything was good except that my particular storage unit has a broken locking device. Therefore opening the unit door all the way is not possible. Also when trying to lock the unit we had difficulties trying to get the lock on and off. I was told that someone would repair it but the woman UHAUL Representative didn't know when. I have to clarify a few of my answers to the yes/no questions. The gate hours to this facility were not terribly inconvenient, but there was one time that I had to get something at night. I got there at 10:20 and the gate wouldn't open. It cost me an hour of driving and I had to go back early the next morning. With security cameras and lights, I don't understand the concept of having a restricted access gate locked at 10 pm. My impression of the cleanliness of the facility is not all negative. Their office space is clean, but my storage unit had a serious rat or large mouse problem. My things were littered with droppings and several of our items were chewed by rodents. I had a very expensive Spyder ski jacket that has a hole chewed through it It was stored in a cardboard moving box. My daughter has two or three bins of stuffed animals and craft supplies that were chewed up and nests were made. This issue is my biggest and only real complaint about my experience. To their credit, there are rodent traps visible outside but they didn't stop them from getting my things. The staff was always very helpful and friendly, particularly on finding the right size and accommodating a move from a smaller unit to a larger one after I realized I needed more room. I would definitely recommend this facility and would use them again if I needed to. I would make some changes in how I stored certain items as far as containers, and maybe putting in some moth balls or other type of rodent repellent. Overall a pretty good experience with a few disappointments that, I don't believe, were a result of staff negligence.Michael H. | Expérience générale

This storage unit was the best it could have been. Along with all of the basic facility offerings being sufficient, what made our experience so great was the help and support we reccieved from the front office. This mother and daughter duo went well above and beyond in helping us; helping us achieve things that they didn't need to do. They helped us saw off a faulty door lock in frigid weather, held on to boxes were were in need of and much more. In short, they were "good neighbors" at a time when life is difficult for us all. They were consistently friendly and helpful and for us, that says it all You should consider using this U HAUL storage area if you ever in need. I want to say that the experiences that I have had at my local Uhaul with Chennel Rivera have been excellent! The professionalism and kindness that she gives everyone of her customers is just AMAZING! Not only for me, but for everyone that I watch her interact with. I own a couple local businesses and I have used your facility a lot in the last year. As a business owner, I tend to watch the customer service element at other businesses. It is exceptional ! The unit was dry throughout the time, but the contents of the unit became fairly dirty and infested with spiders. It will take several days for all the contents to be cleaned up and ready for use. That was unfortunate and maybe there can be more attention in the future to making the inside of the units more tightly closed and less exposed.
