Robinson V | Déménagement en ligneThe app needed better WiFi or cellular service to actually get it to work and I wasted 40 minutes trying to get the truck dropped off with the app. I even went down the road for the app to work better but the pictures had to be done again, I just gave up. The app is good idea but definitely needs work to allow you to upload pictures later or something like bypassing pictures to check out then upload later.

SYED SI used this location eight years ago and used them again because of their excellence even though there are many more convenient locations. They didn't disappoint. They were extremely well organized and friendly.
Clyde TThe only thing I can think of is letting the customer know ahead of time that do take pictures of all four sides of the vehicle. I know as a customer they want you to inspect all four sides of the vehicle before renting. However, I was told after being out there for 20 minutes that I had the oldest vehicle. I found so many scratches and dents that weren't marked just because the vehicle has been through so much. It would've been nice to know that it was the oldest and most banged up vehicle that I could just take it in that if they had taken the pictures like they said, and they know the whole vehicle they would know if there are any new scratches or dents. It would've just save me some time knowing that instead of me spending the time to try to circle in detail everything that's not marked X which I do not wanna be liable for.

LUIS HBrian was amazing. We have been having such a rough time the last few months with kids injuries and some health setbacks and we needed to get the unit closed out. He was so helpful and it was just such a great experience after having so many things go wrong the last few months. He really did go above and beyond for us and he deserves recognition for his outstanding customer service!

I'll sooner carry my stuff box by box on foot before I use that app and deal with "authenticating" my IDs to get a truck. Sat there waiting 10 minutes, chatted in, waited another 5 minutes. Thankfully the associates inside have more a clue than the Corp Directors who push that app.

MOHAMED D | Premières impressionsI called North Smithfield the beginning of October as I was moving two or so weeks later. When I called initially, I was helped by a woman who booked me an appt for trailer installation October 14. This was great because it was really the only day I had to get this done. This appt was reflected in my U-Haul app. The next day or two later, I saw the appt had been changed to the 15th in the afternoon--no one called me, consulted with me, or alerted me. I found out all on my own. I was under a very strict time constraint, so this appt did not work at all. I called North Smithfield, and talked to the assistant manager, who was kind but unable to help me and told me to call back and talk to the manager Jordan King. After a couple of days, I was finally able to get ahold of him. His customer service was substandard. He seemed bored and rushed and dismissive. He said it was a "miscommunication" and that the appt was always booked for the 15th (it was not as it was reflected in my app for the appt I initially agreed on) and told me he would call around to other locations for appts and would call me back "in a little while." I NEVER heard from him. Around 3:30 that afternoon, I called again. The time, everyone was busy so the call got forwarded to the contact center, who sent me to scheduling, who told me Pawtucket had an opening on the 14th, and said I could try calling there. I did and was helped by a wonderful woman. That day, I was on the phone for a good hour trying to rectify an error that I did not make and nobody at North Smithfield seemed to care or want to help correct their error. I was five months pregnant, and needed to pack in order to move several states away, and I did not need this high level of stress and anxiety. This was an error that I did not make yet I was paying the price. I was very disappointed with this location. Thankfully, everyone in Pawtucket was kind and the installation took place in an hour and a half, so that part of the process was done. Picking up the U-Haul in North Smithfield was fine, but the process leading up to that point was awful and did not need to happen the way it did. I hope, in the future, the manager can be more helpful. You cannot play with peoples' time. I was on such a strict time constraint that if something happened and I could not get the hitch installed, I'd be in an emergency situation as my apartment would no longer be mine by a certain day and I'd have no utilities either at 5 months pregnant and in the middle of uprooting my life. I would not recommend this location to others' as clearly this location does not care about customers.

Christopher OWhen i first rented my unit the young man who was working that day was soo helpful. He actually carried my cefar chest up toy unit for me. I doubt he was supposed to be that helpful, and im sorry i didn't get his name but he was more than awesome. Eveyone i saw was super friendly and helpful. I would rent there again and highly recommend the place to others.
Michele H | Expérience généraleBreaks were "use 2 feet to stop" bad. Location was unlit and has no security. So it was sketchy for a 6am pick up/drop off. The truck was parked backed into the woods/trees so when we went on the scavenger hunt to find the keys (because they weren't at the building where we were told to pick them up), we had to put in a letter code to a lock in the dark while holding branches away using our phone flashlights. Not a nice way to do business. Also, photos were taken prior to driving off (for our protection) including fuel and mileage, but we were still charged extra for fuel even though it was exactly as it was when we picked it up. All in all we wouldn't rent from this location unless we picked up/dropped off during regular business hours so these issues would be addressed immediately.

Serth LWhen you get told you get reimbursement for unused miles when you ask BEFORE you give them the estimated miles and then you dont its frustrating. I only used about 50 out of 100 miles and then I call and email uhaul directly with no response it's frustrating it's like throwing away 50 dollars would not recommend you should atleast make people aware of that.
JOHN SHighly recommend! The staff was professional, courteous and very helpful. The cargo van was new, clean and very easy to operate. I have rented vehicles and equipment in the past from other facilities and this was by far the best! Will certainly be back!

Was charged and extra $50 for the rental because of pick up and drop off and I still don't understand why I was charged when I had nothing to do with the changes. Truck was not properly prepared to be used, back door was still locked.

guohua lI was charged for gas when I refilled the van. Unfortunately, the van was not given to me on full so this issue is easily disputed by the location. Cars should not be rented on anything less than full as to avoid issue that this. I am very upset by this.

Lisa AI fine with U-Haul. It is hit or miss. I have rented several times over the years the truck I got today I got in a pinch they were able to work the schedule so I had a truck available for me. That was great however, the truck I had was duty in the cab, and it did not drive very well. The steering scene very loose and unsafe.

Alicia T | Déménagement en ligneMy experience was so bad with this store. I had rented a cargo van for one day. My initial plan was to return within the timeframe for the one day rental. I ended hurting my back and was not able to return the next day. I received a call from the store and was told that my rental was late. The lady who I spoke with was the head of U-Haul Rhode Island her name is Sandra Gardner. She immediately began drilling me on my breach of contract with them. I was caught completely off guard as I thought a late rental just meant they charged you an extra day. Apparently at this store if you're late they call to threaten you and speak to you in a manner that insulting, argumentative and completely unprofessional. I told Sandra I had no intention in keeping the van any longer than I had to but I was waiting on help because I was not able to finish moving on my own. I asked her to explain what the process was on late rentals because the way she was speaking to me made me feel like I had committed a great crime. She was belligerent, rude, combative and all she did was threaten me and my wife. I live 5 minutes from the store, the van was parked at my house. I simply was waiting i On a few people to come help me finish so that I can return the van as soon as possible. To be threatened and spoken to in this way was truly unacceptable and grossly inappropriate. It's a sad day when a person like Sandra Gardner is the representative of a company like this in RI… In summary I fully understand the contract I signed and had every intention on fulfilling that agreement, but to be treated this way for being late because of an injury is ridiculous. Will never do business with this store again. Currently looking to file a complaint against Sandra Gardner…
JOHN MI am not sure this was the UHaul representative's fault but I booked a one-way truck for one day and was charged 2 days insurance. Both representatives at UHaul were very nice and tried to fix the computer to allow for one day's insurance but it wouldn't allow it. So as not to hold up other people any longer, I paid the 2 day's insurance. What happened? The truck said "low tire pressure" shortly after getting on the road. My husband stopped and put air in the tire but the "low pressure" reading never went off. The transmission seemed as though it was slipping. My husband was nervous driving this truck. It needs to be serviced.

SUMAN TI rent very frequently and only rent from U-Haul based on the legacy of outstanding service provided by the team at this location. They are professional, efficient and friendly; almost makes me feel like I am borrowing a trailer from a neighbor. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Imelda L | Premières impressionsThe storage room I had was a room inside the giant warehouse type building, which is definitely a plus because you were totally out of the elements while accessing the storage unit. The building is not heated but it never got too low or too high a temperature which was also a plus. The manager of this facility was also vey friendly and helpful when needed. The only negative was that I am tall, 6'2" and I could not stand totally upright within the unit and I actually hit my head on the sprinkler head, located on the ceiling while I was there once. So, if you are tall, be very careful that you don't hit your head. There are also convenient parking areas that are at different heights to the loading doc, based on the vehicle you are driving. We used carts (like at Home Depot) to transfer our things.

Where equipment like carts were kept; and how all cards and keys were used. Went over rules, hours, etc. And said he would be happy to help if things changed. The unit was very clean, exactly as described online. I reserved the unit online and my reservation was waiting when I arrived on the date picked for move in. Would recommend U-Haul for anyone looking for storage. Prices very reasonable compared to other storage companies. Would highly recommend.

The building was repurposed from another business, and in my unit some nails from where the old business had a wall still had their heads sticking up in the floor, making it a little difficult to slide some items into my space. This could easily have been resolved at the time the building was repurposed using an angle grinder. To reiterate, the above is not something the employees had any control over. There's a man named Howard Hewitt who works there who helped me while I was with my two children and he helped me with the trolley to my car and I didn't even ask him. Things like that make a difference, especially to an overwhelmed mom with two small children! Every time I've seen him he is working hard and cleaning everything. One of the kindest humans I've ever met.

Went home to get the cash then was told I needed a military ID or passport to leave with them until we returned the truck. Then had to have my son show up with a debit card. After emptying my storage at uhaul which I only had for 6 days out of the month was told they don't Reimburse for unused days. Well ain't that some double dipping. RENTER BEWARE. Find a local non commercial company to do business with that take time to explain everything at one time. Will never do this again. U store it that leave a Box trailer at your house then transports it when your ready. NEVER AGAIN U HAUL. TRY TO RESOLVE. HAHA ANOTHER JOKE ON ME

I am out of there and the last letter I got from the office said you owe me $10,1 and I would like my money. My bank sent the checks every Friday for my payment and for three or four month I was told my checks were not received when they were. So I am glad to be out of there.

The only negative feedback was one of the bathrooms at the storage entrance had overflowing bins and bathroom was dirty in the morning. When I went back at the end of the day the state of the bathroom did not change. Also, the one way 20 feet truck needs work on the transmission. It never changes appropriately.

Was told a lock would be in the unit, but there wasn't.. went to the office and they gave me a free lock without any issues. Overall, smooth move-in experience.

This rate increase would have put the SMALLEST unit at 85 dollars before taxes. My personal opinion is that you will continue to loose customers if you continue to raise rental rates for existing clients. If anything you should be lowering the rates of clients that are loyal.

There were no comparable units available so I took a smaller one. While disappointing, the staff were very friendly and as helpful as possible. The facility is highly secure and well maintained. Still glad to store my things there.

Of course, there is always room for improvement, but I believe those areas are in the national services like the long wait times when calling the national number (but when you get a human rep, they overall do a great job!).

norman T | Premières impressionsAfter some confusion, the N. Smithfield agent pivoted quickly and made the situation better than expected. I had called earlier in the week and was told the unit was on the ground floor. I asked the person to verify three times because I was told prior it was on the second floor and only a 5x10 unit was available on the first floor. Upon arrival, we were correctly informed the unit was on the mezzanine up 10 steps. No good, especially considering we were storing an upright piano (500 lbs.) Next issue: I had ordered the 5x8 trailer from the N Smithfield location for expediency purposes, then it got unilaterally changed to Cumberland. This added an extra 90 minutes to/fro twice of waste. As you probably know, wasting time on a moving day is not a good thing. Thankfully the person at Cumberland and N. Smithfield were very kind, polite and professional. If they had been disasters, the rating would have been POOR mainly due to the jerking around of reservations and conveyance of inaccurate information leading to undue stress. However, the EXCELLENT onsite agents saved the rating and greatly reduced the stressful situation. U-Haul REALLY needs to get the people with COMMON SENSE and CUSTOMER ORIENTATION on the phone and within reservations. Eventually more and more customers will realize there are other options with equivalent or less induced stress. This type of silliness undermines the U-Haul trade mark. Ultimately the behavior will lead to a Hertz-like business collapse. The customer interface must be crisp on all fronts to be long term successful. Best regards.
