There was barely 1/8 of a tank of gas and my utmost first priority was to find a gas station to put gas into the truck. The biggest concern was I had made the reservation almost 2 weeks prior and reserved it at the Old Town Maine site. But I stopped in on April 10 to make sure everything is all set, and was told no truck was there for me, that no truck had been assigned, and the man behind the counter couldn't help me any. I had to contact corporate and they told me again no truck had been assigned and that the closest truck was 40 miles away from our moving site instead of 1 mile away like I had reserved from the Old Town site. That is not a good way to do business and I was in a panic. This experience may cause me to look at Penske next time I need a vehicle to move. It would also cause me to think twice before recommending UHaul

Lorraine BI booked a van for pickup in Bangor, ME. I got a call from the manager at that location 30 minutes before pickup time. I missed the call. I called U-Haul Bangor after I noticed the missed call, no one answered. I called several times and was told that the vehicle was not available at that location. I had to pick up the vehicle at a different location. It would have been great to get notice of the change in location before I started driving to the original location. I live an hour's drive from Bangor, ME the original pick up location.
David SWow! The rental process for a trailer has certainly changed for the better in the last couple of years. Last time I rented a couple of years ago it took nearly 1/2 an hour for the rental location in a nearby town to process my information and validate everything even though I'd already keyed all the information online when I made the reservation. I felt the assumption was that all renters wanted to steal their gear, and everything was viewed with extreme suspicion even though I have been a fair regular U-Haul renter for decades. This time the Ellsworth location had all my information based on my phone number when I called to make the reservation, verified my license and swiped my credit card when I arrived for pick up, and I was on my way in about 5 minutes. Perfect! Thank you U-Haul Ellsworth Bangor Road!

Lawrence SThe Truck was cleaned and swept before it was returned. I returned the vehicle on my way to the airport early in the morning to be ontime. They charged a fee for dropping it while they were closed, then they charged a cleaning fee. Basically they charged for services there was no need to perform. I've NEVER been charged a night drop fee and ALWAYS returned my Uhaul after hours. The lady on the phone clearly came across as deceptive insisting I hadn't cleaned a vehicle that was returned even cleaner than when it was rented. This has only been an issue with this location in Ellsworth Maine. The other locations I've returned to in the Hancock County area have NEVER charged any of these fees. I will be filing a complaint against them, as my Uhaul rental history clearly shows that all my rentals have been clean and on time.

I reserved a car mover for pick up on friday the 9th and I called to see if I could pick it up earlier in that day due to a change in my schedule... did not get a call back in time for me to accomplish the task... I then reserved it for Sunday.... then Saturday evening I received a call saying the mover is not available but that somebody would be contacting me about availability in the surrounding area that never came. I called Sunday morning to follow up... they said that they were suprised that someone had not called me back and would try to call this third party... no call back so I called them back and they stated that they weren't able to get a hold of that third party. I suggested that the Ellsworth store may have one... she said called them and got no answer and that they would be closing in 15 minutes which is not in time for me to drive there to check for myself. Over all a very poor experience

I had already paid for the truck through to Tuesday morning, and because we dropped it off ahead of requested drop off on Sunday evening no less, Uhaul decides that they should charge me. Explain to me how that makes sense?? I GAVE UHAUL THE OPPORTUNITY TO RENT THE TRUCK OUT AND MAKE MORE OF A PROFIT AND THEY GOT GREEDY.

She had a puppy wandering all over the place and went on another rant about how a customer almost let it out. What is she doing bring her puppy into the Uhaul Store in the first place!!!! ???? She acted like we were invading her personal dog kennel. When I got screwed on the charges for dolly and blankets I never received she said she put a ticket in to contest it but basically had a "it's not my problem" attitude. And she made me feel like I had taken the dolly and blankets I never got and said there were penalties which she charged me for! Get rid of her.

She quickly got an unmanageable situation under control and provided professional management of what previously had been a very sloppily and poorly run and disorganized location that couldn't get its billing straight and that once locked us out of our unit without cause. At the outset another operation south of them didn't know anything about the first month free included as a bonus to renting a moving truck. This location took care of my needs for a safe space for my things while I was getting settled into my new location. Near the end of the time I needed the space I was very fortunate to have them looking after me because I locked the door open, instead of moving the locking mechanism correctly to locked. Every step in the experience assured me that if/when I need to move next time I will choose this U Haul. Kindly appreciated

john c | Premières impressionsI had a self storage container on my property. For two years under the original owners of Self Storage Plus I never had an issue. When U-Haul bought the business, service tanked immediately. When signing up for a U-Haul account so I could pay my bill, U-Haul showed I did not have an active account. Called the local office and left a message that I wanted to pay my bill. It was 3-4 days before anybody contacted me. In the meantime U-Haul charged me a late fee! I decided to reach out to another locally owned storage company, got a rental container almost 4 times the one I had from U-Haul that is only $20 more per month. Then I was told by your regional manager for my area that because I called to terminate my contract before the end of the month I would not get charged for the following month. She told me that she didn't have an exact date that my unit would get picked up. So on the 5th of April the container was still in my yard, and I got an email showing I owed another month of storage PLUS an additional late fee! Although she got the monthly fee and late fee removed, the overall expirience was unnecessary and irritating. Your company will need to give better service if it wishes to retain customers in the Ellsworth Maine area.

I'm in Wisconsin, moving to Maine this spring and have a storage unit on Bangor Road in Maine. I paid my March storage fee February 28th, got 3threatening emails, one including a lien fee, two of which were after speaking with a gentleman that assured me it would be taken care of. March 31st when trying to pay April I got another threatening email! I lastly got a call from a Betsy who was incredibly nice and took my April payment. This has been a prime example of corporate disconnect... the machine. If I was in Maine now I would have discontinued Uhaul's storage facility. I realize there has been a transition in Uhaul acquiring Maine Storage Plus but this didn't need to happen. It's not rocket science and crappy stamped out impersonal emails are a total management disconnect! I'm also stuck using your truck moving services again after closing on my house this spring, should be a s-show. Nothing like getting payed the big bucks. Honestly and sincerely Karen Marchese

I had a bed headboard leaning against the wall, and water ran down the wall metal siding and ruined the headboard. Water (and ice) was present at one end of the unit and ruined books and other items that were in u-haul cardboard boxes.
