The truck back tire was budging, truck ran rough, there was no dolly as I requested and the tank was not full
BRIAN BWe were charged 30 dollars for going over the mileage. We didn't know we had done so, so I would have preferred being told at check out. This way I could go back and check the mileage to make sure there was no typo when entering the information-there's absolutely no way we went over so there WAS a typo at pick up or drop off. Yes, we should have checked our selves, but were not told to do so at pick up or drop off. 30 dollar lesson learned. We also rented storage at this location. I specifically picked ONE unit that was LONG enough to cover our kayaks. When we got there, we had TWO units that were separated by a wall. Luckily we got the kayaks to fit by storing them diagonally, but we were definitely mislead on what we were renting. Additionally, I got a text message with a gate code, but there was no gate... this left me driving around my unit... looking for a gate to enter. Their signage on the units was not clear. I was confused about the unit when I drove up they were locked with a green tag- the text message mentioned nothing about that so I drove up to the front, there was a lady at the equipment intake I was going to ask, but as I approached she just walked in front of my vehicle (had to brake) and walked away. She ignored me when I said "Can I ask you a quick question". Thankfully the man she was with heard me and helped me. Otherwise, I would have had to unbuckle my child from the car seat to go inside just to ask if Im supposed to take the green tie off.

MANUEL RWell since you asked. Dont make a reservation a month in advance and cancel on the customer without any warning leaving them the day they are to be delivered calling and asking for a delivery timeframe to only find out everything was cancel despite a payment and dates given. Don't mislabel and misplace aka lose clients containers. Don't try to cover up the misplaced aka lost containers by saying we will definitely call you back today and not call. Only for the customer to play phone tag for a week and be told the higher ups would call but they never do. The individuals that delivered the containers were nice and did their job well. As did a few customer service reps.

Gerald EI had reserved 2 dollies that they did not have available when I arrived. It would seem the online reservation process would hold equipment when made. I had to go to another location to pick up one dolly as that was all that was available and it was broken though usable. The gentleman at the counter at this location was very helpful and apologetic

RANDALL MThis is a very large facility and when I arrived to return my truck around 9:30 am on Sunday, 3/2, there were 2 women at the desk with the employee working on something and 4 people in front of me waiting. I had tried to return the truck using my phone but kept having issues with trying to load all of the required photos so ended up going inside for assistance. I stood in line for 15 mins. inside before the line started to move and the others had been waiting before I joined the line. I was exhausted and all I wanted to do was return the truck and tow trailer, it was very frustrating that there appeared to be only 1 person working on Sunday morning which appears to be a fairly busy day for returns. The employee who was waiting on the people never said anything, like she was sorry for the long wait and would be with us shortly. I finally spoke out and asked her if she was the only one working, she said there was another person but they were in the storage facility cutting off a lock. I understand that that was something that needed to be done but it seems that the large group of people waiting for assistance with picking up and returning vehicles would be more important at the moment than cutting off a lock from a storage unit. The second employee finally did appear at the counter and she didn't speak to acknowledge any of us waiting in line, appeared she was headed out the door to go do something but I asked if she could assist due to the amount of time I'd been waiting in line. She did take my key and said she would take care of confirming the truck and trailer return which I very much appreciated. I just wasn't expecting such a long wait just to return a vehicle. Maybe being so busy on a Sunday morning isn't a common thing, I don't really know.
ANN JStaff was great. Super nice and helpful. Couldn't have been a better experience. Highly recommend this branch of Uhaul and I'll definitely be back for anything I need in the future.

Mordecai M | Premières impressionsThis was not my first location pick but due to the equipment I needed my reservation was changed to this location which I have used before. However my equipment was not available, they were extremely backed up and then the truck I received was in no condition to drive. I needed to go 10 miles to my home which should have taken no more than 15-20 minutes turned into 45 almost and hour. I then had to extend the time as I lost time just getting home, lost time traveling 5 miles from my old home to the new one and did not think I would make it by my time of 5 due to the truck not functioning properly so I had to pay another 40 some off dollars to extend to 6 pm which I will be asking for a refund on that. To actually making it by 5 and then having to down the truck as it was not drivable.

KARRY EStop over booking online. Associates are very slow at their job no type of urgency. Had to wait 1hr in line even after i book online. I had to change vehicle cause the one i book was not available.
SAMRANG OI have moved many times and always used uhaul. I have never experienced such chaos at any other rental. They are understaffed I had to wait an hour, the truck I wanted was rented out even though I reserved it, none of my extras were there with the dollies I got a garage rental dolly, very disorganized, when I dropped the equipment off the person could not be bothered when I asked about the guarantee credit, and to be honest this experience is an embarrassment to the company name because it is not typically the uhaul experience. I have moved enough times to know. Do not go here!!!
LORI IFill up the oil on the truck. And enforce people fill up the gas tanks to the proper level. Also have better signal/wifi so that the loading on the app doesn't take all day.
Nikolai HThe lines were long, and there was alot of people waiting. Only one U-haul representative was handling all of the customers. The rep didnt tell us about verifying the license plate or cleanliness of the truck, they just gave me the keys and said to make sure the unit number matches. The fuel gauge was between a 1/4 and 1/2, but the paperwork showed that it had 1/2 a tank full. This was incorrect, and made me feel like we were trying to be conned for extra gas.

Very unprofessional. Then when I returned the truck I was charged more money even though I was 45 minutes early plus more miles than I traveled. Another charge that I can't find out. I WILL NEVER USE UHAUL AGAIN. I RATHER CARRY STUFF ON MY BACK! POOR POOR SERVICE!

Derrick PThis facility is large and fairly well organized. Systems for rental remind me of a Rental Car facility - lots of work to do a little bit of work. And they don't work right when it comes to changing days and times of a rental. It does not re-calculate total rental fees. This caused some issues as to what I was signing to rent the trailer. Upon return, only what time rented was charged (so, all good). Lights checked on trailer, but by the time I got home, left turn signal wasn't working (not sure if adequate check was done at the pickup site). Rental had to be shifted to this facility from a facility that was significantly closer since the equipment was not available at the closer facility (last 2 days prior to rental).
KEITH CUhaul contract with moving.com and they broke my furniture. Nobody at either Uhaul or moving.com wants to take ownership of the fact that my furniture is broken.

DANIEL MWe recanted a 20' truck to empty out our storage unit. The the truck was not clean. There was trash under the seat. And the back had glass and broken electronics all over it. The truck was on empty when I picked it up. I almost ran out of gas when I left the facility. I just made it to the gas station.

LESLIE WWe had to look for someone to help us. Then we were told we owed nothing. I just paid a bill from U-Haul after the email was telling me I'm late with my payment, but if I pay it now I won't have to pay a late fee. If I'm told I owe something I pay it!!!! To get a bill like that (basically threatening) makes my blood boil!

AMBER RBeyond frustrated over the service. First, the reservation was made initially, closer to my home, store 905 Wesley Ct, Boiling Springs, SC . I arrive to find out they don't have the truck I ordered and need go to the bigger location, 1500 Industrial Dr, in Spartanburg. I received no communication from Uhaul, no phone call or email the night before to advise me, location had changed. I then drive another 7 miles or so to another town, Spartanburg. I get to the front desk, the Clerk ( who I will not name publically) then tells me, they gave my truck to someone else, and thought it was funny, laughing. I then say, well give me another truck. I made the reservation on 12/12, two days in advance and was it confirmed. He then finds another truck, I was asked, can you get the truck back before it gets dark, I said why, as I booked it for 8 hours. He said, both headlights do not work on this truck and I will give you this one. Are you kidding me, I said? So I booked the truck for 8 hours, and now you want me to be back in 6 hours or less and before it's dark? Why would you give a inoperable vechicle to anyone? He did find another one when I did not accept the one with no head lights. The disorganization and lack of empathy for someone who made the reservation in advance, and not a walk in, is mind blowing and unprofessional to the customer , who they clearly did not care about. No apology for the inconvenience nor the fact, I was 6 miles farther from the location where I originally booked & had to pay for extra mileage due to the fact they had no truck and I was required to drive farther and pay extra for mileage. How is this fair? A few new customers are piling in to the store, waiting in line, so he stops finding me a truck and he says to another customer in line, what are you here for, he goes, I'm here for a flat bed. He then tells me hold on a moment, I'm gonna help him first. I had to tell him, umm, NO, you are not helping him. I was here first & you will help me find my truck that I booked 2 days ago you are not helping this other customer. I'm sorry but why would you do this? He then laughed, and went back to helping me. I finally got the truck I ordered, with working head lights after wasting an hour between both locations. This is a billion dollar service company, and service is what you failed at.

James D | Premières impressionsThe car hauler I received looked great at first but the drivers rear tire kept losing air. When I checked it that night it was at 18lbs. Pumped it up to 55lbs and that morning checked it again at it leaked down to 38lbs. So for the 2 days I had the trailer had to keep putting in air. Morale to the story check your equipment before renting or ask for some kind of rental credit because they rent subpar equipment.
THOMAS RYou split the 2 pieces I needed the 10 foot truck and the car transport, you made no effort to get them to the same location 8 minutes apart, I made the reservation a week in advance and on the day I need to leave on my trip you have 3 car transports but tell me they are all reserved and that I am basically, SoL. So I have to get a refund on the truck and who knows how long that will take, and when I decided to rent a small trailer it was defective and I had to go thru a hard time trying to get your young sales person to swap the trailer, Finally your more experienced older employee called me over and had seen the hard time I was having with the young salesperson and had a trailer ready for me that pulled perfectly. So to say I am not happy would be an understatement.

Then they arranged to give me two smaller ones directly opposite each other, but one of them still had items in it even though it was unlocked. So ended up with one unit on the first floor and one unit on the 2nd floor. - Not convenient and made the unload time much longer and will make the move out time longer when the time to move into a house arrives.

Nanette W | Premières impressionsMy storage unit got broken into. Spartanburg police department notified me instead of the storage facility. I was NEVER compensated by uhaul. Outside debris, Cobb webs, looks of rat droppings was inside my unit when I moved out. I took pictures to show how un-maintained it was. Supposedly, there is an alert when your door open and closes, I never received an alert. Unless you want your stuff broken into, then use this facility. I tried renting a pickup truck or cargo van, and the guy Corbin/Corbin (?) was no help. No good customer service. He told me the nearest place that MIGHT have something was in Greer! I rented a uhaul cargo van from the facility in Boiling Springs the second I walked out of the door from talking to him! How do you not physically call or check in the system to see this information instead of giving a customer, "sorry you're outta luck and there's nothing more I can do for you"??? Smh. Overall, my experience with this uhaul facility has never been a good one. The people aren't very friendly, & they don't try to do no more than what they're doing. I understand customer service is stressful, but please hire people with better personalities and people that's just looking for a check.

There was no humidity control on first floor, unknown to us, and all our stuff was full of mold. U-Haul got our furniture cleaned by Serv Pro, they did an excellent job, but some stuff was unsalvageable. Serv Pro filed a claim for us, we are getting reimbursed for some, but not all of the items. (They prorate the age of the items). The whole thing was a bit of a hassle, during a moving situation. But Ricky, the new manager at U-Haul was very helpful. I would make sure that you are getting a fully climate controlled space.

The knew manager, do not know her name, is rude and unsocialable. Could not even be bothered to leave her office when I had an issue. I closed my unit and moved it to another facility.

I recommend to get storage. Better to get storage where is protected and clean. Then resolving issues somewhere else and losing your stuff. Also carts are always available and very easy assess to your storage unit. Fresh smell doesn't stink like some other companies storage I been through. I had a lot of bad experiences. It's kind couple buck more but it's worth the cost of clean unit without problems.

The GM Ricky told me I would have 24 hour access so when I came back after 10 PM with two trucks full of stuff I could not get in. All of our contents were destroyed with mold, mildew and odor, approximately $20 000.00 cost of 8 price dining room set, 2 living room sets, , 3 sectional wall unit, bookcase, 2 bedroom sets queen and twin including dressers, nightstand and mattresses, leather briefcases, several baseball caps, important documents, garden bench,?plant starts, antique sewing machine, 4i0 inch smart TV, clothing items etc almost everything that we owned is unusable. We filed a claim in March 2022 , it is almost August 2022 it still has not been finalized. There has been a lack of communication with the insurance company. This matter needs to be resolved immediately. We are very disappointed for the lack of communication and professionalism in resolving our claim.

This is in no way a reflection on Steve August or his staff. They just don't have enough people. They iare expected to be in the office handling walk-ins and answering the phone, but they also need to show new customers their units and go over the rules and regulations etc. Problem is there is only one person scheduled to handle all of that. UHAUL needs to hire more staff to take care of customers needs in a timely effecient manner. When someone did answer the phone, they were friendly, polite and knowledgeable and took care of my issues.

The manager responded by being very unprofessional and rude during our call while knowing they were at fault for the situation. The final straw was the night of Nov. 7th I had professional movers come to finish packing for our move to Utah and was unsuccessful gaining access to the building. The movers had to go, so I was forced to finish my move with a rental trailer cost and an additional months rent on my storage unit because it renewed on the 9th. The person who was in charge, Steve, acknowledged the problem with access to the building and apologized for the inconvenience but UHaul corporate does not assist with discounts..

It is not right to expect ONE person to do this job, can not be done. Steve August is the best. Like most places today they understaff their business. Uhaul, be different than the rest hire more staff.

The storage unit leaked water on my belongings, ruining a few pieces of furniture, and there was no attempt to make it right. I get opting out of the insurance, but not even an apology or attempt to fix the unit. It was as if I should have known that was a risk of renting a storage unit. I would not recommend.
