ashley p | Expérience généraleI'm only giving three stars because while the move in was somewhat easy, there was no bigger dollys when we got there and all of a sudden they appeared but as did some questionable looking people after our third trip down suddenly they had stuff on their cart, they also had a giant bowl of keys and we're trying them in several locks, they were wearing gloves and looked homeless. The guy asked me if I needed help and how I was accessing the upstairs. I was told there would be a security guard from 12-4 am yet didn't see anyone but those people. While I understand that mice happen it was very disheartening to see and smell the trap in the unit I rented, that being said also nothing keeping possible critters and creepy crawlies from entering my unit as the top is totally open. The space is bigger than I initially thought, fit all my stuff but again now I have the fear of storage and possible critters and mice. The staff that assisted me in obtaining the truck and storage unit however were awesome and super helpful with the questions I had and they met my needs without hesitation.

He recommended the same unit just at another location and it was cheaper due to the fact that there was no staff on site, it was $40 cheaper so I didn't mind driving distance. I would highly recommend choosing U-Haul for self storage. Please pass the message along that the gentleman that helped us was awesome. He was at the century and Winnipeg Manitoba. It's good to know that my stuff will be taken care of in my storage unit. The faculty was also clean. My only recommendation would be to have more carts flatbeds with wheels. There was only one that I could see, and I was using it and a gentleman was waiting for it so I would maybe add a fee more

A great experience, an awesome facility, even having a large amount of heavy stuff with a storage space in the basement was very easily managed. I did get slightly caught off guard by the 10:00 p.m. night time closed date when the signage on the building says 24-hour access. Also, I understand that to have a fast service freight elevator, it has to close quickly, but there should be some way to hold the door open when filling the large elevator with larger loads of smaller items. Thanks for a great experience! I really appreciate it.

Chris P | Expérience généraleWe have been faithful customers for at least 2 years. The last interaction was terrible. There was some confusion as to the transfer of storage locker versus moving out a storage locker. We are not familiar with your terms. Very upset at having to pay $236 for an empty locker. This is a deal breaker for us for sure. The manager first said she would compensate the charge then later said she cannot do anything for us because the date has passed, and if we don't want to pay we don't have to, but for sure they will send it to collections. She was very rude and condescending. We advise if workers have stress or issues in their personal lives, to leave them at home. Don't come to work and take it out on customers. Don't answer the phone if you cannot handle speaking to customers. Nothing she was saying made sense. In the last 18 months or so, we have rented trucks more than 6 times, and had more than 3 storage lockers. We were trying to move our two 15x20 storage lockers from pockit storage to Uhaul but didn't have time to do that. No bills, notices or emails were sent to us because the office had entered the wrong email address. We were not given any information about this and we were going with previous information we had, which was wrong and outdated according to the manager (because your guys say it up as a new move rather than a transfer, which again we don't know anything about) as customers. Will not use U-Haul ever again.

Florence E | Expérience généraleMy family is devastated after a huge financial loss after storing my entire belongings in U-Haul. My unit got broken into and vandalized by damage and theft 7 hours after moving in. NO cameras caught anything. NO alarms went off. NO police were called from the video monitoring that was advertised. I am out thousands of dollars and irreplaceable items from passed away family members. Perhaps U-Haul would consider a refund to help make up for our devastating losses. I can never get my father's tool box back. And ALL the parts for our beds etc were also in there so currently we have no beds and many other things.

Also the alarm system in the building continued to ring when I opened my storage unit, so annoying and loud. However no one came to the facility while it was ringing, which was in the evening. Perhaps when I was assigned another unit the system wasn't updated?

I personally had to walk around warehouse to confirm which locker was actually available. This should not be the responsibility of customer but the uhaul staff to confirm which lockers was actually available.

I rented a UHaul truck to move my items to and from storage. When I initially arranged the storage unit I was unable to process the "free month storage rental" promotion. I contacted the general manager on May 27th and was assured this promotion would be applied to my June payment, which did not happen. I contacted the general manager again on June 27th when the payment was processed but to date have not received a response. I moved my items out of storage on August 19th.

Easy to book a unit, helpful and informative staff available by phone. Only reason I'm moving out is because I've moved to a home with a large basement for storage. Will definitely think of UHaul again if I ever need a storage unit. I will also recommend this facility to anyone I know in need of storage. I use UHaul for all my moving and storage needs.

They had told me on end of May but I told them I was moving in July so can I please just leave it so I didn't have to buy a new lock. When I went to go and start my move, no one had text or left a message saying, by the way we asked you to remove your lock and you didn't, we have replaced it. Had I had at least a couple days notice my move could've gone a little bit smoother.

I found a wide floor broom on the main floor and used that but had no where to clean up those chips. Anyway, that's it

No police called. Zero protection for your stuff. Thieves freely walk in and out of building. U-Haul doe NOT tell you to get your own private insurance. So ya may as well lock your stuff in an old shed somewhere.

Nathan K | Expérience généralestaff were great, helpful. but the app was so awful. for example, i booked a truck at 5pm one evening, and the app wouldn't show my truck reservation. this led me to wait on hold for 40 minutes, and have to waste another 25 minutes to get the truck. so it took 1 hour of my reservation time away. my storage locker was only available til 10pm that night, and i was unable to get to the storage locker before 10pm for my final trip. so this wasted hour made me have to pay for another truck a different day. this never would have happened if the app worked properly. so i wasted another day of moving and at least $100 because of the terrible app. please fix that app.
Evan M | Expérience généraleI realize this is a newer facility so the signage hadn't been installed in the basement yet which made it a little bit of a search to find the unit, only other difficultly we had was initially trying to operate the security key pads for access and the elevator. We were able to contact the after hours phone number and the woman (Krista I believe) was very helpful and knowledgeable. Overall, very happy and will continue to choose Uhaul for my moving and storage needs.

Theresa S | Expérience généraleStaff were friendly and helpful; however, to have a simple question answered, you cannot get helpful responses by phone or chat because the staff are not local. Staff member on phone was not able to tell me if the facility had an elevator, for instance. Also, after renting and paying for unit that morning in person at local office, when movers arrived at the separate storage location where supposed units were rented to us, the units were locked off with locks and not accessible. Nobody answered the intercom help call either. Movers found some empty units and started moving items in while I went back to office location (a car drive away) to sort out. I was initially told to go ahead and continue into the vacant units and then told that UHaul couldn't rent them to me because they were already assigned. All this while movers were on-site charging $140 per hour at the storage location were "on hold". Eventually, the rental clerk did persevere and sorted it out but this was very stressful on an already stressful day. He remained calm and collected as he resolved the situation. That being said, I have to ask, how did this happen in the first place? What are the checks and balances in place when dealing with off-site storage locations from the office? This was an exceptionally frustrating experience and therefore I would not recommend. I am also nervous about how the rest of this experience will play out. In the end, I hope that my feedback helps UHaul improve its services.

AMIS S | Expérience généraleI went to the office on McPhillips st first. I told the employee I had a reservation on the first floor because my items will be heavy and all items will be on pallets. He was friendly. I told him I want a space close to the door so that I don't need to move the items very far to decrease the risks of damaging the floor. Also, I told him to confirm that if there's no space available on the first floor, please make sure the elevation is strong enough to hold my 2500 lbs pallet. Then he called and confirmed. I was waiting there for about half an hour. We confirmed everything. After that, I went to the storage to check the status. I found the storage has a lock on it. So I went back to the office again. But the lady there was very rude and tell me I cannot use first floor, I cannot use elevator, I cannot use loading ramp, if the already damaged wood floor got damaged again, I have to pay for it. What's the meaning of the confirmation from yesterday? So I decided to cancel my booking. She told me she can only refund me the money for the storage but not for the lock even though the lock has not being used.
Shen L | Expérience généraleThe one thing that I have a problem with is that I was given a storage size too big. Two units. The boxes in the smaller storage locker would fit in the larger one. Did not need the smaller one. An unnecessary charge that I paid only because I thought I needed it. It was definitely a wrong estimation. Better luck next time. I HAD TO FIND ALTERNATE STORAGE FACILITIES AT 1600 HOURS ON A FRIDAY AS NO OTHER UNIT WAS MADE AVAILABLE BY THE UHAUL REP. I PAID FOR A UNIT THAT I COULD NOT ACCESS. I PUT IN A COMPLAINT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE CANCELLED THE UNIT AND ASKED THEM TO CANCEL ANY FURTHER PAYMENTS. I WENT ONTO WEBSITE TODAY AND ACCOUNT WAS STILL ACTIVE. I REQUESTED ACCOUNT CANCELLED FEB 25/22 AND I SENT AN EMAIL IN MARCH TO ENSURE NO PAYMENT WOULD BE TAKEN FROM THE CARD ON FILE. ACCOUNT IS STILL ACTIVE. PLEASE CANCEL ACCOUNT AND RESERVATION.

Actual feces on toilet and once pictures were forwarded to Ryan Pearson the washroom was cleaned up. Got reminder our bill was due even after we cleared out locker. Calls are all forwarded to an outsourced call centre in the U.S. and if your loading after a certain time your locked out of building until 7am next day with NO LOCAL HELP!

There was building material all over my content Left my contents in storage for someone to take a look. I tried to get a hold of the manager for 2 weeks. Left numerous messages and received no response. I was out with family and called I was asked to please hold by the manager sitting on hold for 45 minutes had my son drive to the location while still on hold. Walked into the building to show that I was still on hold and know one knew what to say. Finally able to speak to the manager in person I received nothing but excuses as to why I was never called back. Showed the pictures of my contents and was told there was nothing that could be done because I didn't take the insurance on the unit at I assumed would be for fire/water. Not for construction issues. She did comp me a month for the unit to only show up there to remove my contents to be locked out and to receive numerous emails and letters stating that I Owed money Absolutely a horrible experience and customer service

Uhaul did absolutely nothing about this major inconvenience.

Reservations were made and was told to go to Uhaul on McPhillips. McPhillips agent lady mentioned there is no available space. Drove back to century. She managed making a call the the director and said we go back there. Each time we go there is line. She was able to help and pointed out the storage was Notre dame. We went to Notre dame and access was not properly done went back and then finally had access. The only reason I have to comment was the lady agent on the location was unprofessional and impolite. I understand the nature of the business, she just have learn how to deal with customers. Thank you for the space

But i understand it was being fix and it just happen that when we move in to the storage they were renovating it until we moved out. So we ended up using the small doors with the stairs. But that was in the range of 6months, renovation was too long.

Barbara D | Expérience généraleDisaster from beginning. Rented a locker at one location. Arrived there and was told they don't have a room for me. Sent on goose chase to another location. Went to the new location and there was a metal set of stairs we had to go up to unload they a single man door that could not be propped open for bigger thing like couch or love seat. Construction going on has to maneuver around workers. Left at end of the month as per contract on June 30. Could not get a hold of anyone at uhaul. Even tried all the help buttons none of which worked. Finally in July 2 got a hold of someone who told me I cannot check out without a worker present. Continued to revive bills and threatening letters. I called uhaul repeatedly and they assured me they would take care of it. Letters kept coming 2-3 a day. Went in to the location to speak in person. Woman there snapped I told you to wait. Today is October 23. I am still getting calls and letters and emails. Will NOT rent storage again and hope no one else does. Too much stress in already stressful time.
Genevieve G | Expérience généraleHello - Please know that while we (myself and my partner) arrived at our destination on time, the vehicle was absurdly massive (20' when we asked for a 10'), and the charges associated to our final destination were absolutely absurd. Unfortunately, we went looking for a reasonably priced / sized vehicle to drive the Southern route through the Kootenays, there was NO 10' one-way vehicle in a 7 hour radius of the Okanagan. (Simply, look at our account to see the changes.) Further, we had an emotionless representative who answered our call in Arizona's customer service offer who was more interested in cross-selling us a free storage unit than going as far as simply recording our email address properly for a response. As a result, we had him mis-quote our rate at nearly $300 less than what we were charged, and left waiting nearly 2 hours for a call response, before having to call back for another 56 minute wait on (advertising) hold for an update. In addition, all said and done, we were forced to take a 2-hour bus ride to the town which had our "upgrade" vehicle... which undoubtedly ended up costing significantly more in gas (due to the reduced MPG). Finally, following all of this stress inconvenience, the vehicle that was waiting for us was found to be at a small (hidden) 'tire and brake' business location, which certainly DID NOT follow the company's protocol regarding the information about fuel. * * When we arrived at our destination, we personally witnessed the (professional) agent (who assisted with our return) inform four separate people of the exact way in which to return their vehicles with the sufficient amount of gas... ... we on the other hand, returned the vehicle with a FULL tank of gas (an extra $126 charge), without knowing that the fuel was to be return at a (1/4) quarter tank. Needless to say, if we went looking for a cost-effective solution to transportation (as stated), that additional $126 charge came out of our food budget. We have the affiliated 'tire and brake' company to thank for that, I guess. Thanks. Anyway, I have no idea whether there are ways to receive 'compassionate compensation' for these circumstances, but during a time when people are hardly leaving their homes, we have left $126 of our food budget in a 20' UHaul truck. tyler s | Premières impressionsMoving in was easy, with good access via the ramp, but moving out was a lot more challenging with the construction. There was no ramp access so everything had to be lugged down the stairs. Once the upgrades are done it will be a premier facility.
Kevin Z | Expérience généraleQuestions 2-6 do not allow me to give helpful feedback. There was confusion among staff as to how to use the security system. This resulted in my having to drive back and forth from the storage facility to the U-Hual office to sort out the problem of entry. The confusion concerned using a code not a swipe card and that 2 boxes of codes needed to be activated. There was confusion also about which units were available. The location of the building between Erin and Wall makes for a very difficult access. You can only access the site by driving East on Notre Dame and making a right turn off Notre Dame Avenue. Very disappointing. A free month of rent does not really compensate for all the inconvience.
