We have moved recently and we rented truck from uhaul 4 times but this time we were overcharged. At the pickup the gas tank was only 3/4 of a tank. We had picture of tank and milage with time. Before returning we filled the tank to the same levels. We were charged 47 $for gas. The customer service rep disregarded our pictures. We have rented from uhaul many times in the last two months and we are very dissatisfied with the latest rental.

The interior of the vehicle was satisfactory; however, it did not look like the vehicle was cleaned inside or out when I arrived to pick it up. In fact, I called back to let the store know that the vehicle had mutilple grease smudges on the exterior that was there prior to my pickup.

Have to admit the young lady who serviced me was very nice and when I ran into an issue, she was extremely accommodating. There was a misconception on my part concerning the actual size of the trailer I rented, she took it as an opportunity to trouble shoot. I only wish I remembered her name because she really deserves a lot of credit.

Initially Contracted for a pickup truck with hitch and associate set up for a cargo truck. Lucky that E-confirmation shows image or I wouldn't have known to call and change it - 2nd associate cleared it up right away. Location itself is a bit difficult to navigate to for the entrance, but overall service is very good.

I would recommend that U-Haul is a bit more explicit in explaining what is needed for drop off after hours. We had already dropped off the keys and left the U-Haul location before we realized that we needed to be on site and take photos of the interior of the vehicle to complete the after-hours return process. It might be helpful if there was a note on the return summary that outlines what will be needed to return vehicles after hours.

When picking up reserved truck, during initial process, staff member helping me was drinking juice and talking about matter unrelated to helping me with team member paying little attention to my questions and giving quick responses before I finished asking my question. If felt very rude. He provided minimal guidance prior to leaving and upon my return with vehicle. His customer service was poor.

The truck was given back with same amount of gas what was there before… Drove total 30 miles and filled 2,6 gallons… Also provided receipts for the same. Still they charged me 33$ for 7 gallons of fuel against for probably 0,5 gallons… This is totally unacceptable

U-Haul U-Haul publicizes a pickup experience faster and easier when forms are filled online; not the case for me. I had an employee not seeing that I had cancelled one of two reservations, announcing that I had to return the van the next day when it was reserved for 4 days, announcing that the van I reserved was not available, and finally turned out to be, asking me all the questions I had already answered online; going through the whole form there and then took over ten minutes. In other words, I shouldn't have wasted time online and just be done with it on location. The first worst part was to be handed only one key. Because I'm used to always cary two keys for my own van, I went through my usual door locking motions in this rental van and eventually locked myself out of it one morning, the van loaded with my art show display sitting in my driveway. The second worst part was that the rental office is 5 min away from my house but they couldn't provide me a spare key!! This company protocol had U-Haul have to pay for a tow truck service to open up my rental van's door. The wait times over the phone calls and the wait time for this tow truck made me arrive terribly late and loose business. The single key policy is a waste of money, time, energy and good mood, and generates stress that is easy to avoid by splurging on a spare key. You could offer the customer the option to put a deposit for each spare key they ask. Moreover, I would have certainly paid an extra 5 $to rent a spare key. The van was fine, spacious, perfect for my needs, with one big disappointment: While reserving online I had to make several calls to U-Haul customer services to finally reach someone who could tell me the length of the entire interior of the van, not just the cargo area, because I have a few 10ft long pieces that needed to occupy the extra length and rest between the front seats. The specs described to me seemed accommodating, but I wasn't told that a steel wall separates the seating area from the cargo area! Thus not allowing my long pieces to fit in! Why isn't there a more precise spec sheet readily available online? Why did I have to dig so deep over the phone, and to get only half of the relevant information, even as I had clearly specified the reason for my inquiry? I would've had to rent a larger size truck. The van was clean and in good shape, but for two elements: 1) It reeked of cigarette smoke 2) As soon as I pulled its handle, the center glove compartment just fell on the floor, spilling its contents; it was broken off its hinges! Obviously whomever cleans the van did not check this box in a while because it contained rental paperwork from three previous customers! The van has safe visibility with good double angle rear view mirrors and the seats are comfortable and in good shape, but it was missing such an important item in this day and age, namely a USB charging outlet!, not even a cigarette lighter adapter! Imagine someone renting this van to move stuff over a long distance guided by GPS on their phone, and their battery dying! If it is in the U-Haul policy not to provide this basic element, they should warn the customer to bring in their own cigarette lighter adapter. The van's steering pulled to the right constantly. The dash clock was off by over 5 hours and the way to set it remained a mystery to me, and I'm usually pretty good with electronic gadgets! When I cleaned the cargo interior, I lifted the black rubber lining and saw so much filth that I doubt it had been cleaned in a while. I admit that I left the dirt and the dried leaves there and cleaned only my tiny little traces of use, because at this point, having faced so much frustration generated by absurd and easy to avoid company failures, I ran out of that little extra halo which makes one clean after someone else, anonymously and without reward or recognition, out of pure goodness of heart; yes, shame on me, I know. My own van burned down two days before an event planned two years ago, and on which a lot depended, so I was in a state of urgency, and I'm grateful for having had U-Haul van's to the rescue.

The only problem i encountered was when i made the reservation for Saturday and was confirmed for that day and location , all of the sudden they sent me a Email to pick up from different location, had to cancel that reservation and made another for next day. I mean if you got the confirmation they shouldn't rent out that vehicle to another customer.

We had to wait 45 minutes for someone to return the cargo van which we were supposed to rent. This is unacceptable to have people waiting on other people's rentals. There were two cargo vans sitting in the lot inoperable. The 2 employees should have known that there was a reservation at noon for a cargo van and start calling the people who have them 30 minutes before to make sure they are returning them on time. We missed our opportunity to move things in NYC due to this delay and were very inconvenienced.
