Was easy and had great service
JETT SThe staff is amazing! But the truck we had was terrible. The cabin light was hanging halfway out of the ceiling, the door lock on the driver side. You could see that someone had obviously stole it and drilled out the lock and instead of putting a new one in there or replacing it properly or fixing it properly they put a bunch of Cahill around it. So I honestly never felt safe leaving anything in the U-Haul so we stayed up till 4 AM to unload because the truck could’ve been so easily stolen. The windows were absolutely disgusting. They had not cleaned them. The inside of the truck was extremely dirty so definitely look over your truck before leaving with it and the engine sounded like it was going to blow the entire time.

REYMUNDO RI had spoke with the owner to let her know that I did not pick up the moving pads from a different location & she assured me I would not be charged for them. A few hours later there was a $192.00 charge on my credit card for the moving pads I never picked up because they were at a different location than where I was picking up the truck and ran out of time. Drop off was not nearly as bad as pick up but it was not flawless & smooth.

I have not had a bad experience since my client kept the truck for a week and I ended up getting charged for it, but no I have always had great experiences with U-Haul truck, offices and the teammates working inside. CRYSTAL PThe lady was amazing that helped us. However the other gal walked in complaining about how she hates some spray and was super negative. The truck smelled like smoke mixed with air freshener. It was not pleasant. The truck was super dirty on the inside. Dusty and not well taken care of. I was trying to mark that it wasn’t clean but it tried charging me for a cleaning fee. I got it gross so I was not about to pay to have it “cleaned”. Lastly when I went to open the back door there was a zip tie on it. Just a minor inconvenience since I did not have a knife when I went to use it.
MICKAYLA R2 large freight elevators, 7 large moving carts, and a mattress cart were awesome. Loading/unloading dock was also convenient. Restroom on first floor of storage facility was awesome.
William H | Premières impressionsI made my in-person reservation for pick up at 5:45 am next day. Arrive @ 5:35 am, no key in lock box. Called customer service, key inside store, open @ 7. I deliver medical supplies, first stop at 7:30. I was an hour late the whole with 16 timed stops. My customers not all that happy. Phone USB port did not keep my phone charged. Had to get new plug and cord, that did work but phone was already dead. Not able to scan over 115 items out for delivery. Cost of rental twice what I pay at Enterprise with free 100 miles in town. Had truck 7 1/2 hours, 92 miles, very expensive for the day. Rough expensive late delivery day.

VINCENT VI left my backpack in the truck I was getting my car off the transport and trying to move the car because I got back late and in the rush to get tge truck back for the next customer the attendant took the truck before I got a chance to get back to it when I realized that nobody got my backpack you were closed other than that perfect service as usual
HOWARD RDistrict Management should use secret shoppers at this location to truly understand how to improve. Also, please review the camera footage. This was my fourth time renting from this location. I only do so because of close proximity and their late hours.The customer service here is truly “hit and mis”. This time was a definitely a mis. During checkout I waited patiently for the CSR to complete a call to another location to give the person on the call heads up that a customer had returned one of “his” vehicles to this location. She bragged about maximizing the penalties on the contract. After ending the call, she looked up and pointed her finger in my direction to signal that I was next. Suddenly she could not use her words. I noticed that her name tag was turned over and her name was not visible. For reasons unknown to me, this CSR appeared angry and or irritated. As I left, I told her I hoped her day would get better. My “Check-in” experience was on a completely different level of horrible. The CSR greeted me with “Where is the vehicle”. (I have interacted with this CSR on one other occasion. One quickly realizes she is not in her position because of her pleasant disposition. She does not wear a name tag) With no explanation, the CSR walked out side, I followed her, thinking she was going to check over the truck I was returning,. Instead she proceeded to move two or three trucks to the adjacent parking lot, each time disappearing for long periods of time without saying anything to me. In my opinion, this person should not be in a position that involves interacting with the public. I have reached out to the district manager and hope to discuss my experience in further detail.

NORA MPlease note that the 20' footer needed servicing The truck could not go above speed 45, due to a cut off sound while driving. Needed front alignment extremely bad however made a 7 hour trip to a 11 hour one due to this situation. Once arrival to Uhaul in Memphis I did give details to service representative, that mechani c al problems needed attention.
Anna SThe gentleman that helped me lease the truck was helpful, professional yet nice. Later that day it became apparent I would need a storage unit. I called and the young lady helped me over the phone, and when I came to get the keys to the unit she was helpful and informative. We loaded everything into the unit with only a couple minutes before close. She wasn’t pushy or annoyed, she congratulated us on our swift loading out and in. I felt like I was given top notch service.

Sherri J | Premières impressionsI originally scheduled my rental through the website and chose the insurance. I set the pick up at 3100 Main St Ste 10, Kansas City, MO 64111. I modified my rental from the pick up to the 10 foot box truck. Once I got to the location for the pick up I was told that I needed either a utility bill or lease with my name on it. It would’ve been nice to know in advance if I needed something like that to secure the rental. The lady then sent me to the location on 1520 locust street where I didn’t need to have a lease or utility bill with my name on it to secure the rental. It would be nice if the rental requirements were the same at all of the locations to prevent customers from having to run to multiple locations to get a U-Haul.

(white lady! she made me roll my own dolly and carry my own blankets. this was after her coworker (black lady) told her to put her coffee and phone down and we work for the customer not the other way around. she didn’t even have a uniform on!

Mac WThe staff at the location are fantastic, very helpful and efficient. This is my third rental in the last couple months, and I will continue to use this location. However, I will say, some of the rental equipment is in desperate need of replacement. The first truck I was given had about 130,000 miles on it, but more importantly, the cab smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I asked for another rental option because of this. When I got the next truck, it also had about 120,000 miles on it, and had an odor of cigarette smoke. The cargo compartment (the back of the 10ft truck) had an odor as though it had been used to transport garbage. It was visibly clean, but smelled terrible. I am not sure there is a great solution, but would would like to at least make you aware. Perhaps some of these older fleet vehicles can be retired.

This was the second time that I had gotten those ridiculous things on my account anytime I try to go to rent a truck, they don’t rent to me for that reason and I have to call the number that is given to me, WHY IS THAT? Please fix your system U-HAUL!!!!!

LESSIE LWhen I initially came in to inquire about renting a storage the young Black man was very helpful. When I returned a couple of days later to rent a storage unit. The woman, named KATELYN B. Was on duty and was the rudest individual I've encountered in a public sector I've ever encountered. Her attitude was" don't ask me anything. When she did respond, it was to point to the display on the wall. On Sunday when I arrived to store my items, I came in to say I was there but had no idea where to go or what to do. Again, when I asked where I was to go, she just pointed. When we found the loadi g dock, our access code didn't work. We tried allin the office with no response. Luckily for us, a Black lady wo identified herself as an employee came and said she had observed us struggling and helped us. I don't know if this KATELYN woman is prejudice against people of color or just rude. Either way, I will never use your facility again and will tell anyone who may need storage to NOT use the one on 15th and Locust @Trunan Rd. .

My trucks check engine light cane on after 20 minutes of driving. The interior of the trucks is very dated. There is no cruse control and the prices are way to high

John SFirst off when reserved the truck I was going from Independence Missouri to Fayette Missouri. No drop off point in Fayette so I had to drive back to Boonville then got charged for additional mileage.. and when I went and picked the truck up, it was like a shit show trying to get the keys and find the truck. No one knew where it was at. No one knew where the keys were. It was just horrible.
Kenneth UVery nice and helpful. My only complaint is not about this location - it’s about the reservation system. I did not reserve at this location - “traffic” picked this location. I received zero notice that I was to pick up here. I arrived at my chosen location only to be informed I had to pick up at a different location - 30 minutes away. Due to timing, I had to take an Uber to pick up. An extra $30 I wouldn’t have had to spend had I been notified.

Reginald CTruck had been returned right before being rented to me for the day according to the employee. Cargo bay was unswept. I didn't look as closely as I should have because we only had movers for 3 hours and had to get going, but upon sweeping at the end of the day I realized there were a bunch of sharp metal shavings and some kind of oily substance (smelled like paintball). I ended up cutting myself on a piece of metal and, after a long day of moving, decided to leave the truck half swept. I don't know yet whether I will pay for returning the truck unswept but felt it is best they handle the cleaning as I had no spray cleaner to remove the oil or vacuum to safely pick up the metal shavings.
BENJAMIN CThe app wouldn't work, the website booted me out multiple times and it took 3 times and almost an hour of calling to finally reach a person. We will not recommend uhaul to anyone in the future.

NICHOLAS NJust make it easier to figure out how to get into the building. It's in the older downtown area of Kansas City, Mo, and although there are signs telling you where to bring returns, plus lots of UHaul signs everywhere, no one can tell you how to get into the building. When I was staggering around in 95 degree weather to try to find the right door, I wasn't enjoying myself. But other than that, your people are very good, the van was great- it was an excellent interaction.
MARCIA HThe trucks are old and musty, which is not the end of the world. I was told the tank was on full but it wasn’t. I didn’t notice until after I drove off. Ended up having to put $22 worth of gas for driving 20 miles to fill the tank.

Micheal S | Expérience généraleShauna, It was a terrible experience from a cost perspective. The price of our unit basically doubled since we started renting it. We found a place closer to one of our homes that is just $62 a month AND for a bigger unit. 10x10x10 compared to 8x8x8 with almost twice the room 1,000 sq ft versus 512 sq ft. A savings of over $600 a year with more storage space. I have told multiple people about the new unit and will continue to do so. You have priced your site out of a sane person's budget. Also, if it had been more secure there would never have been the fire there from someone going in and throwing something on fire into one of the units. It was getting to the point that I was having to take the stairs all the time to retrieve the elevator since people have no concern for others. This had begun leaving a really bad taste in my mouth. At our new storage site, the unit is much more secure and the elevator doors close automatically. Kenneth and David

They charged me 5 dollars over the millage instead a dollar and didn't get the correct amount back..Gas was placed back 10 miles over is not 57 dollars
Charlene T | Premières impressionsThere are cameras all over the facility, signs that say it’s all hours access, and key pads to enter/exit facility. The storage unit closes when the office does. The first day I got my unit I punched in at roughly 1645, unloaded things from my truck to the dock, and when to take the things in and the door no longer operated. Gyms can be 24 hours, Walmart can be 24 hours. Besides this one gripe, and the oddity of the local traffic patterns/narrow loading lanes for trying to get a trailer in/out, which I’m sure the building didn’t start as uhaul storage so was kind of just a work around, it was a solid facility. Floors were pretty nice, hand carts were great. Staff always worked with me getting things set up and hooked up the way they wanted. Is a bummer that the hitch on the trailers is not lockable. It’s 2024, they stealing everything out here. But that’s a uhaul corporate beef, maybe.

(one piece of advice - would be the homeless in the car taking a spot for those loading and unloading - quite inconvenient. Just have them be more cognizant of those coming in and simply move when needed.)

My only gripe is that I had reserved a ground level unit and was given a 4th floor unit. I also checked in online and did not receive a free lock as indicated. I already had one with me, so this was a minor inconvenience. I would say overall this place is pretty cool and the staff is helpful. Since there are one way streets and backup moves to make, it’s not for a novice.

When I tried to do that, I was told differently and had to pay for storage at the moment and the rent the truck. Also the hours that self storage was advertised as if I can use until 10pm..but could not move my things into the storage because the facility closed at 7pm. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I would call to make a payment and the phones would be transferred to corporate, sometime waiting on hold for 15 minutes to be told that I need to contact the facility directly. Terribly inconvenient that I could not access the facility 24-7. I tried to move out on a Sunday and couldn’t get in after 5pm. Super annoying. The people that do work here are very charismatic and helpful in person. They were always nice, whenever I dealt with them in person or on the phone directly.

Very rude and unhelpful people behind the counter. Only 1 person was nice and helpful - I can’t remember her name. She was working circles around everyone else. When I first arrived I didn’t know where the office was. I asked them on the intercom. They proceeded to make fun of me then just said go south. I’ve never been there before I had no idea which way south was. Just very rude and lazy. Never again. I’ll toss everything I own before renting a storage unit again. Was told there is no partial refund for all the time I prepaid. -20 stars.

I had to speak first. She acted irritated when I asked her questions and when i brought the truck back she never even thanked me for my business. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Often had to go out to the street because they refused to move even though they were not loading or unloading. Could be a little sketchy from time to time but I suppose that’s downtown for you. Biggest complaint is that it was difficult to actually pull up to the loading bay due to other people parked there for no reason.

accorp i | Expérience généraleStaff was fantastic helping to free up the loading dock so we could have a chance to unpack the uhaul. Access hours could be better or more clearly articulated. We drove 6 hours from Iowa with the truck and only had less than an hour to unpack by the time we arrived. We knew the office would close but not that we would lose access to our storage locker With a moving truck of our size, I wish we didn’t have to move it all up to the third floor for storage. The space was sufficient but required dozens of trips up the freight elevator. Again, something I wish I would have known prior to arrival but, after successfully navigating the truck through downtown KC, I didn’t want to transport my cargo to a different storage facility. I can’t speak highly enough about the staff. From allowing us to stage the truck at the facility during the day so that we could take care of the business portion of the trip, to helping to move and park the truck...can’t speak highly enough about the staff you had working there today 13 May (day shift)

chauntel w | Expérience généraleI am a military personnel and have orders to transfer to California in December. I have had the unit since August. On 11/18 the military set up a moving company to get all of my things, when I opened the door to my unit I surprised to find there was water damage! Pools of water was on top of my bins, some of my boxes collapsed do to the water. By this time the unit was basically drying out and creating black mold. My head board is cotton and was also ruined. The moving company had to be rescheduled so I could go through everything and repack/throw away ruined items. I was never notified by phone call or email about the incident. The manager ensured me someone was supposed to call all the renters to come check their unit . I was also informed that a sprinkler system pipe burst and they had to get all the piping redone on the 6th floor. This process was highly stressful and very inconvenient for me. The manager that day however was very helpful and gave me everything complimentary to repack my items and even moved me down to another storage unit that did not have damage so my items could be picked up on 11/19.

anita p | Expérience généraleIn the middle of clearing out my storage unit on Monday, the elevators stopped working which made it impossible to move my couch and a few other large items. After waiting to see when the problem would be resolved, I decided to continue my move, leaving the couch in the storage unit to be retrieved when the elevators were working once again. The broken elevator issue created significant delays for my move which resulted in moving expenses that were much higher than I budgeted for. The moving company I hired is paid by the hour and distance driven, so having to wait to figure out what was happening with the elevator and then having to return to the storage unit hours later added a significant amount of time that I would not have had to pay for had the elevator been working properly.
