We have used Ubox for a number of different moves in the country and had a great experience. HOWEVER, I will NEVER recommend Ubox to anyone moving in the Charleston area. The staff managing the Ubox rental in Charleston are the absolute worst. In fact, my parents had a Ubox delivered in Mount Pleasant, and the woman delivering the box finally arrived at 9pm (outside of the drop hours), did not give notice and placed the box in front of the gate in their driveway so they couldn't open the gate or access the cars in the garage for three days. Our experience was even WORSE. The same woman delivered our 3 Uboxes at 9:30 pm (way outside of the drop-off timeframe), and it was extremely loud, she backed up with the beeping noise the entire way down the street for each box. She was rude, and neighbors were coming outside to see what was happening, which was very embarrassing. To make things more traumatic, she was supposed to pick up our boxes on Saturday and arrived at TWO THIRTY AM!!! Of course, she woke us up immediately and the neighbor's lights started to turn on as well. Not only was the machinery loud, but she was also screaming to someone on her phone on speakerphone. Then she hit our box into the side of the house. I will NEVER use Ubox or Uhaul ever again for a move in Charleston and will continue to tell this story to those considering Ubox.Pierre P.

One of the tires needed to be replaced and I had to add air to it twice (once at the beginning and at the mid-point of my travels). The tire pressure warning light made me uncomfortable but the equipment still functioned. I also had to guess when putting air in as I could not find a tire pressure gage. I put $25 worth of gas in the truck that I used very little gas in and was charged $51.14. I have the credit care receipt showing how much I put in. I was told not to rent from uhaul because they charge bogus charges and rip the customer off! I will never rent from uhaul again! Worst experience everChristy S.

We never went inside the location. But outside an employee, Ty, was very helpful and assisted us even though it was near closing. I can not emphasize enough how nice he was and the great customer service he provided. My one major comment is the location was extremely crowded with trucks. It was difficult to enter it. And it was a bit hectic since it was also a storage location for the upack containers. Forklift drivers were buzzing around all over with them. For that I knocked them down a peg. Would be good for things to be separated more. Granted I am not sure the location has the space.AMY P.
The customer service was poor. The first day I stood in line for over twenty minutes was not greeted but walked past by an associate who went on to greet the next customer who came in. When I was finally asked to come to the counter â€œto help whoever is nextâ€ before I could get out the type of truck I needed I was cut by the associate telling me they had no truck available unless I had a reservation. That announcement could have been made prior to me standing in line for twenty plus minutes. My fiancÃ© went back in after I told her of the horrible service and she was told trucks would be available the next day. We went back the next day, received slightly better service, I requested an applicants dolly which was left off the contract and the truck which resulted in us having to spend an hour shopping for one to finish our move. The time ran over into me having to be to work as I am a first responder and could not miss a day so I ended up paying for an extra day rental just to have the empty truck sit in my yard. If I could help it I would never rent from insulin particular this location again.Larne G.

My experience could not have been better with the return process. There was a long line in the store for pickups. A staff member saw that I was returning and immediately walked me outside to check over the truck and get me cleared out. Highly recommend this location.Carl Y.

Service was absolutely distasteful. I couldn't do the mobile pick-up like I set up. I go inside the store and no one is helping me as new people walk in they are assisted prior to me. Wasn't even greeted. Then I give all my information and left my car so I could get someone else to drive it back and these asswholes towed my car LONG before the close of business. No one said anything to me. I could see if it were there passed the close of business but I was there within a and hour. Didn't call not once. 10/10 DON'T RECOMMENDImari C.

It was difficult to maneuver through the stacked storage boxes with a huge truck. Very congested and we couldn't find the entrance bc it was blocked by two trucks. We walked around the location for about 20 minutes without seeing any personnel. Until I called the location and they were trying to give me verbal directions, when I was telling them everything is blocked off. There's no way to get this big truck + trailer through to get checked in. When we finally got everything situated, everyone was very kind and inviting. As someone who just traveled through 5 states with this uhaul, we were hoping it would be a seamless drop off process since we had such an amazing experience in our home state. This location did help me return my extra wrapping paper though. Without a receipt. For that, I am thankful. It was a very high stress/anxiety situation because of the congestion in this location's parking lot and there's no clear signs indicating where we need to pull into the location, which caused confusion.Abigail S.

The U-Haul box was supposed to be delivered a window between 9 AM and 6 PM at 5:30 PM it still did not arrive and we did not receive a call when we called them we waited over 40 minutes on hold twice and we were told that they were loading the box now but they could not give us an ETA on when it was going to be dropped off but said it will be there sometime later tonightjoe T.

I reserved and pre-paid for a truck from 2076 Wambaw Creek Rd Charleston, SC location with an allowance of 105 miles to my destination. At the last minute U-haul changed the pick up location to a Credit union Lane, North Charleston location, (12 miles further from my home in Mt. Pleasant) Inconvenient but ok. However, you reduced the mileage from 105 to 94 allowable miles because North Charleston is closer to my destination, when in fact you should have increased the mileage to compensate for the greater distance I had to drive the truck to get back home and the greater distance I had to travel to my destination. At the end I was charged for an overage of 22 miles which you caused by changing the pick up location. Additionally, when I picked up the truck it had 1/8 of a tank of fuel and only 41 miles to empty. So I had to fuel up first thing and not having the opportunity to drive the truck any distance to determine its fuel efficiency I had no idea how much fuel to add. I was given a $27 fuel credit to bring the tank up to 1/4 tank, but that obviously would not get me to my destination. Consequently I put too much fuel in the tank and ended up leaving above 3/8 of a tank of fuel. No credit on the extra fuel but extra charge on the overage of miles which was caused by you changing the pickup location. Frustrating, and not a way to get a satisfied customer. In my opinion, you over charged me $22 plus tax for the mileage overage and approximately $40 for the 3/16 of a tank of extra fuel that I put in the tank to leave the truck with 7/16 full rather than 4/16 full. I don't think the staff at the pick-up location were at fault, it was U-Haul policies and procedures that were at fault.Ralph P.

The place I was originally supposed to pick up in charleston sc was horrible. U-Haul immediately transferred me to another location on credit union Blvd and their service was top notch. Trailer I used was in good shape other than having to put air in one tire. Upon drop off time the man at chilled ponds in Virginia was very nice and even stayed a late to let me drop off. Very respectful and fast service. Overall would recommend using these two locations. Do not use the location off of remount rd in South CarolinaSabian C.

The location is extremely crowded and cars constantly block the entrance. Both times I came to buy boxes and pick up the truck, I had to park at the business across the street and walk through the blocked up parking lot. When I dropped the truck off I had to wait for someone to move their car because they had parked in the drop off lane. The service was awesome, but the parking lot is insane.Katie S.

Overall my experience with Uhaul was good. I want to make sure that someone knows how helpful Noe in Savannah GA was. Our container was supposed to be picked up on July 5th, but unfortunately a scheduling mix up caused the container pickup time to be pushed out to July 7th. Noe called me to let me know and I informed her that we couldn't do that as our house closing was set for July 6th and we need to have our things, included our container, gone before the 7th.
