The person that helped us was awesome. He was able to answer our questions and get us out the door quickly. The truck was clean, but it definitely could have used an air freshener or something. We reserved a trailer a week prior to pick up. When we arrived the trailer that was reserved for us was broken. We were unable to lower the trailer and the latches on the ramp were also broken. They would not allow us to take another one in the same size. We were on a deadline and needed a trailer that day. Other locations near by did not have the size we needed. The woman and man we dealt with were very rude. They zip tied a bolt to the chain so the ramp would not drop while driving. Since we could not fully load the trailer due to fear of the zip ties breaking we had no choice but to make multiple trips for what we were picking up and was forced to rent the trailer until the following day. We were told if this happened we would only be charged an additional $20 but of course when the time came that was not the case. Definitely will not return to that location and will probably look for a different trailer company in general for next time.Chris C.

Counter staff was polite. Equipment was clean.. There was NO help hooking up the trailer. There was no Jack or lift assist getting the trailer onto the hitch. I would not use this facility or a Uhaul trailer again without a Jack or lifting deviceDavid H.

When I arrived to pick up the truck there was no one at the front desk I waited 20 mins. When I returned the truck I was told I'd be emailed a receipt. I had to call them 6 hrs later for it. I had to call them back again because I was charged for 2 days when I only had it for 1.Iman C.

Don't accuse people of stealing your truck. Than threaten to call the police. They charged us an extra 40$ & didn't say why. So we demanded a refund they are giving us a refund but never even told us why they charged us for it. Will never go back to this romeoville location. When exiting my storage space I needed 3 additional days past my billing cycle to occupy the space before my move. Unfortunately I came to find out that Uhaul will not prorate you storage space but they will charge another month of rent no exceptions. When speaking with the manager her response was it was company policy there was nothing she could do. I paid the additional month's rent but This caused uhaul to lose my business when needing to rent a long term storage space after moving into my new home.Marc R. | Expérience générale

The employee I dealt with were great. The location was clean and professional in appearance. The truck .. not so much. The seals on the truck doors were missing; allowing cold air to flow right through and making travel loud. The radio didn't work. And I'm not sure if all the trucks are like this but this one didn't have cruise? - Not a huge deal with the cruise but I just thought that was weird.steve F.

Units do not have alarms which is why I moved out. I paid for an armed unit and got ripped off for 3 months. The door sensor is installed but not wired up to anything. I told the store manager this when I first noticed it and nothing was done. She told me the units don't have to be individually alarmed because they have cameras. No need to ever use the key card to go in or out of the facility because one, the cards don't arm or unarm anything because the sensor is not hooked up, and two, the front gate is always open. I also told my concern about the front gate to the store manager and nothing was done about this either. I rented a truck for 7 am and no one showed up to open the store until almost 7:30. Then, the truck had ABSOLUTLY NO gas in it. I had to put gas in it before I could even drive it anywhere. I opened a ticket with customer service 2 months ago about these issues and nothing was done so I moved out. I wont be using U-Haul anymore.Eric J. | Expérience générale

1) I was quoted one rate, and charged a much higher rate. By the same person. Although he knew I was renting it on Sunday, he changed the rate when I went to pick it up. 2) I drove it 24 miles, and it took over 8 gallons of gas to fill it. When I commented on that, the man said, it must need a tune-up. Noiw, I've rented several trucks and trailers from U-haul, and never had this kind of 'COST'. Even other U-Haul trucks I've used going from State to state, didn't get that gas milage. And everywhere else, in Kentucky, Indiana and in Illinois, the service had been excellent.stephen H.

Everything went very smoothly. My only suggestion is to tell people where to park the truck when bringing it back. I tried to call but there was a 15 minute wait for them to answer. So I parked up front & ran in to find out where to bring it.Lynn E.

They give me the car with half tank of gas and they charge me 100$ extra saying that the tank was full, also they charge me more miles. So guys if you really need to get a moving truck from these location (which I recommend not to) make sure they print you the receipt and you check mileage and gas before you leave the place! I was fraudulently charged for insurance despite declining their insurance and I didn't find out about it until after returning the truck and getting home to check my email for my receipt, I have called and went to the location for the past three day, and all they could tell me was that, they're not able to refund me my money anymore. This is seriously fraudulently act. Please, if for any reasons you have to rent, but I will rather advise you not to rent from the Romeoville location on Weber road, make sure when you rent any one of their rental vehicles that you request for your receipt upfront and refused them from sending your receipt to your email in order to avoid falling a victim of their fraudulent as I was.Joseph A.
UHAUL was excellent!!! However the moving company I used SHOWTIME MOVERS was a NIGHTMARE to say the least. STAY AWAY, They broke my luggage, 4 ceramic coffee mugs , AND when I confronted the so called owner why he looked so angry and why he was grabbing my stuff VIOLENTLY , he KICKED my box like an angry 2 year oldâ€¦..he literarily left my belongings outside on the side walk and walked out!!!! General manager was on her personal phone when returning trailer. Never came out of office to help me. I had to find another worker out in the yard for help. When picking up trailer, there were 2 guys that created a huge scene and threatened me because I was blocking the entrance waiting for the general manager to come out to take a pic of hitch. The cops were called because they started claiming they had a gun and would use it. Very poor location and horrible customer service. I will make sure to tell all my friends and family if I don't hear back from a district manager.Nicholas K.

The employees there were so incompetent. I went in to rent a 10 ft moving truck at the price of $19,85 for 24 hours @ $0,79 per mile. I told them my estimated milage was going to be about 10 miles. They then told me the there was going to be and extra charge if I wanted to to use it for the 24 hours which is not true. I had to go back and forth with them about this and he price. They were trying to charge $49 when it should have only been about $28 with the estimated mileage. I had to wait and have my mother who used to work for uhaul call their manager and get them straight and after 45 minutes of this I finally got the truck. So when I brought the truck back only a few hours later I had gone 5 miles over my estimated mileage. Which they should have only charged me $3,95 more to the $28 they charged me at first. I asked them to check the truck in right away cause they didn't want to do it until they closed I guess and wanted to charge my card later. I told them no please do it now. So they checked it in and came back inside and told my total after returning was going to be $49. Once again I had to sit there and argue with the girl that I should only be charged the extra $3,95 for the extra 5 miles, added onto what they had already charged me. I had to sit there and break it down to them for another 10 minutes until they apologized an realized they were wrong. This was just a very frustrating experience dealing with these employees that seemed completely clueless and were be incompetent about what they were doing. I was so agrivated that I wanted to scream at them, but I didn't. All together this was the worst experience I've had with uhaul and I use them often.Joseph R.

Uhaul corporate must audit this uhaul franchise in Romeoville. It's a disgrace to your business. I have 2 storage to this facility but I decided to transfer after a month of poor service. Their office always lock even in business hours. You need to call and wait for 10min before the manager opens the door. The guy who cleans the storage is so rude yelling at the customer. He also cover up the manager every time you wait for the door to open. The store also opens late. It's good thing that's there 4 more storage place around the area so we can easily escape to this poor managed storage I'm also putting up a review on yelp to save customer from this storage.Joneph P. | Expérience générale

My code never worked, there was hardly ever anyone there when I needed them to fix my code. There was multiple times I could just not access my unit. Also I was told when we first rented that there was rodent control in this facility and that was untrue. 90 % percent of my things were destroyed by water and or rodents inside the unit. I lost the key to my uhaul lock which was purchased at U-Haul at this site. The huge employee told me they would not be able to remove the lock for me and I would need to call a locksmith. I already rented a U-Haul truck and was committed to a 100 mile drive and had to wait 4 hours for a locksmith in 100 degree temps to get me into my storage facility because the man at the office refused to help me and said they no longer remove locks. Turned out to be a miserable 100 degree day. I would never rent from U-Haul again after this. Wasted over 1 hour trying to access & locate the actual storage unit. When asked for assistance the guy working the desk became upset with me when I asked him for help. The customer service is extremely poor at this location & it gets worse when you ask for help. They act like it's a huge burden for them to actually get off their chair to come & help. Instead they get angry with you & you get an attitude instead of help. I'm specifically referring to the young fellow who was working at the desk. It seemed like he was new cause the lady it seemed was training him when we arrived but she wasn't there at the time I asked for help. I don't appreciate getting yelled at for asking for help especially as I'm a paying customer & by the way I don't have a photographic memory. You know the process since you work there & I'm a new customer there & so this was totally unprofessional the way your staff member guy treated us. I'm being kind by rating you 2 stars because I really want to rate you 0 stars. We've rented several trucks and two storage units from this location. Pretty much every time we came to our unit, we'd have to go into the office as our gate entry code would stop working. Even if we visited multiple times per weekend, it didn't seem to matter. The staff did their best to help but this was very frustrating. The last few truck rentals we had were also a challenge. We arrived for our reservation but the office was empty and no one was answering the phone. We waited 30 minutes before someone was finally able to assist us. We cleaned out our storage unit on 2/2, but I was still sent a bill with a late fee on 2/22. We had informed the office three separate times that our unit had been cleared, well before the next payment was due. I had to spend another half hour on the phone with customer service trying to resolve the situation. This place stole out of my storage and blamed me for not locking my storage door which was completely false Things was stolen out my storage. I couldn't get in or out of my storage because their system was always down so I couldn't use my code to get in and of the gate. No one was never there to help the customers. Romeoville location never answers their phones. They left me a vague voicemail about my unit (during a day with high winds) which made me believe my unit got damaged, my husband and i spent all our time calling them while at work, and on the drive to the unit. All of my boxes were wet/damp and falling apart when I moved out. We only had our stuff in there for 3 months. Anything fabric has a mildew smell and I had to remove mold from several pieces of furniture. I would hate to have lost everything if I had to keep it in there longer. Not sure this is normal or not for storage. But it did add extra hassle, work, time and money onto our move that I wasn't expecting.
