This location can't be real.I am U-Haul customer for a long time but for a first time on this place they treat me like a garbage.I ordered 26' truck to move my furniture.The truck was in pretty bad shape.When use brakes the truck start shakes due to bad NO maintenance at all.Non a single employee wear a mask or keep a social distance.At the time of returning the truck was the worst part of my business with this location.I parked and open the cargo area of the truck and wait for employee to come and check the truck for damage/fuel . Than LISA arrived,skip me and start serving other customers who was on line behind me! I asked her to finish with me because I don't have time to wait . She came after 10 minutes and only thing that she said is that I am going to be charged for cleaning fee $25 !!! There was a little dust on a the floor on rear end cargo area of the truck. She was "sure" and told me that this was from the drywall that I carried in the truck! I never used this truck for construction materials or any kind of garbage.But anyway I know that U-Haul overall try to overcharge you for things like that.To avoid the $25 charge I swiped the whole truck and call this little poor lady LISA to check again. Guess what ... she said there still be a charge unless you have to MOP the truck !!! This was the point that I realized I was discriminated very very bad on this place.Probably because of my accent or other reasons I don't know for sure.So I said ok I will mop it . She went into the building and brought the bucket and the mop that they used to clean the office . I mop the truck,wait for her to check for the 3rd time and complete the order with no overcharge for anything. I really think that they somehow put some trash without you seeing this on the time of return to charge you cleaning fee and make more money.She signed and I left this place.I will do anything possible to report this issue,location and the way they treat customers in upper level,corporate office and some big bosses.I really hope that they will shut down this location in the future. If you need to rent a truck or trailer just go to the Itasca location. Employees over there are good and professional.Equipment is newer than this place in Des Plaines,IL . That's it . If you have a choice stay away of U-Haul of Des Plaines , personally I will never go back to them!

online return was extremely difficult. I had to sit on hold for 30 minutes in a freezing cold vehicle before finally being transfered to the correct department to help me get location services working on the website so I could return the vehicle.

I realize that you have storage and trying to promote it is part of the sales associates responsibility but this being said slamming your competitors as a selling point normally does not work and is very unprofessional. Polite and courteous service warrants repeat business

Truck rented was horrible, no alignment, ( new tires of course) to make it look good. Truck pulls to the left, step on the brake goes to the right. Stuff extremely rood, insisted they have a right to refuse service, although we satisfied criteria required.

I rent a truck for 24 hours and I brought the car same location before 18 hours so i used just 6 hours but still they charged me 20$ service fee. I asked them then they said you didnt check out thats why!!

Everything went very smoothly. My only comment is that I didn't know I was going to get a text regarding the condition of the vehicle so did not respond as I was going to my destination. Otherwise, everything was very simple, efficient and every one was great. I received my receipt quickly and it was accurate. I've rented here before and will again.

Masks required to enter, but the associate who did the paperwork and took payment for my rental was wearing his mask below his nose. The individual who delivered the vehicle was not wearing a mask at all and came inside building twice while I was checking out. Otherwise was a positive experience: service was great and everyone was friendly.

My family and I were moving to anchorage ak, from Chicago, IL. We had to purchase enough boxes for a 3 bedroom house, and rent a 26 ft truck and car carrier. Ilene and Jaime helped with every aspect and answered several questions, calls, and texts as we prepared for the journey. I very much appreciate their help - they are amazing employees and great people. We made it safely and we're able to get settled in anchorage. Thanks!!

30 dollar fill up fee + gas and i drove 20 total miles. i added just over a gallon back was right at where it was before.. they seemed to believe it wasnt enough.

Overall my experience was very positive. My rent a truck was very clean and durable. One thing to please improve is update the after hours check in process. I have a Samsung S 10 phone. My location setting was on and i was getting a "unable to verify location error message." I was on the phone with a friendly & helpful Uhaul representative that had to figure out how unlock a setting on my phone to unlock the location setting availability to finally checkout and complete my after hour return of the truck.

Improvements to the website are needed. It was frustrating to have to call UHaul several times, be put on hold for a long time, and repeatedly hear messages saying how easy it is to update your plans online. After making changes to my order (once because the date of my move changed; another time because the Moving Helper "American Professional Movers" was unresponsive), I still saw outdated and confusing summaries in my online order summaries. Some employees I reached by phone were knowledgeable and helpful. Others gave me incorrect information, or transferred me to the wrong colleagues. It was a chore figuring out how to reach the correct individuals within a seemingly de-centralized company setup (UHaul vs. UBox vs. Moving Helper).

A U-Haul employee assaulted our delivery driver, and only sent them with with one of our two boxes. I tried to call the location 9 times over 4 days and never got a reply. I'll never use U-Haul again.
