I changed my pick up time (from 8 am to 830) with the regional coordinator, which apparently didn’t make it into the computer system, so the location canceled my reservation without contacting me or anything when I was “late” (arrived at 835). The location should have contacted me, and the coordinator should have done their job.

When I called to make my reservation I was told that the pickup and auto transport was at this location. 15 minutes before I was supposed to pick up the equipment I was call be the regional office and told that this location did not have my reserved equipment and that I would have to go to Kent (30-40 miles away) to pick it up. I told them that is not acceptable as I was not able to make it to that location. They said that Lakewood has the pickup truck but not the transport. The next nearest transport was in Puyallup 15 mins away. So when I got to the Lakewood location to get the truck I was then told that they do not have one and that they are over booked on everything. I overheard a couple of their associates talking about how the regional office keeps booking equipment they don't have. So now they offer me a 10ft box truck which is to tall for what I needed but I made it work. Then I go get the transport in Puyallup to find out that it has to be returned to the Puyallup location and not the Lakewood location. So in the end I end up driving about 76 miles when I really only needed to drive about 20 and had to pay for the extra mileage! Oh and the transport had a nail in the tire and was going flat. Do my complaint isn't really about either location but really about the regional call center!

Tamia was extremely rude. And she knew it she even gave me her card and told me she was the general manager and I was welcome to call the 1800 if I didn’t like what she told me. I stayed calm and courteous with her despite her tone and her hostile attitude. She was pissed because when I registered online I was paying but my partner was driving so I entered their ID info just as did last time- she would not accept it said it had to be my info and that anyone could drive it that was 18 or older. My partner just rented a U-Haul with his father who doesn’t have his license to drive anymore so he drove and his father paid and it was no issue. She also called my partner who was standing next to me to confirm it wasn’t a fake alternate phone number. She was extremely hostile and didn’t care that she was rude. I will be yelping and google reviewing this and letting my on base contacts know to avoid this U-Haul- close or not.

This store is very unprofessional. Should have walked away when the app wasn’t working when inspecting the truck. The store employee then gave the old paper to do the walk around with. The truck was not inspected or put in the system yet. Front and side damage. Returned the truck on time then the check in process was not working had to enter everything manually and it still did not properly check us in. The following morning a employee calls and says the truck wasn’t returned and we’d be charged additional fees. She did not check the box for the keys. I called customer service and they handled it. 3 hrs later while at dinner with family the same employee calls and says we’re going to be charged additional fees of almost 50 dollars. Because we did about 60 miles we did a in town move 15/20 miles at max. The employee refused to transfer me to customer service. I WILL NOT recommend this location to anyone or probably use U-Haul again

Service and helping me, the customer out was awful. I paid 260$ for two days of use and 40 miles total. I was an hour late returning the vehicle and called before noon hoping I would be helped but had already been billed for another day of use. I will NEVER use Uhaul again with the amount that I have been charged!

Told the move was one way to Anchorage, AK without any stops. Sales person said it would take 8 days allowed and mileage of 2720. The fuel was supposed to be just over 1/2 tank. In fact I drove to the nearest gas station and put 20.28 gallons in it. When I turned the vehicle in, 4 days and 2289 miles later, I turned it in with a full tank, by putting 30.66 gallons in it. I would rate the equipment as very good. I feel that I got ripped off on the number of days and miles estimated. It was 4 days and 421 miles less. The fuel issue is another rip off.

The phone app sucks. It would not work from my Galaxy 8. the app would not let me upload the pictures, and complete the return of my rental. I had to get up and drive 30 minuets to do it personally after a very long day of moving. it gets a -100 rating!!!!!!!!!!

Please stop forcing the self check in upon your customers. This is clearly company protocol because this is the third time I’ve been at a uhaul and the associate has pretended that there will be an issue if I can’t do the self check in. Associate made me feel as if I was an inconvenience to her for her having to assist me, even though I still had to do the majority of the work... like upload my drivers license and Retake the majority of the photos of the truck. Aside from that, uhaul has great pricing and was a breeze to return the truck.

One of the staff was very distracted and not helpful. The other one was knowledgeable but busy. Our paperwork said we were going to Seattle but we were really going to Lakewood and had to call a 800 number to get it changed before we could drop it off. This procedure just doesn’t seem customer friendly.

Make sure fuel tanks are full. The truck I took did not have a full tank. The gauge was just below full. I put more gas into it to fill the tank than I actually used in my 9 mile trip. I returned the truck with a full tank and gauge past the F.

If you have more than 4 customers waiting, have someone to address the customers. There were at least two customers there to just drop off the keys. So if they are taking some time to deal with the present customer. Just let the waiting customers know their options.

One of the tire straps broke while driving and we had to stop to get it repaired. Then the passenger turn signal/brake light stopped working later that day. When we dropped off the trailer dolly we noticed that the original strap and the replaced strap were both about to tear. This did not leave me with a lot confidence in the equipment or its maintenance.

Unbelievably rude. Rent from ANY other place. Even when you call the Uhaul Corporate line to complain nothing happens. I rent from this location regularly. On this rental the general manager, who is a horrible rude and condescending person, refused to rent to me because I didn't have my cell phone on me. Not that I didn't have a number, or that I didn't have required identification, ONLY because I didnt have my cell phone on my person. I told her that I am a disabled vet and that I was going to have to hobble a mile home just to get my phone. She basically told me to "get walking". Uhaul doesnt care....will be taking my business to another company. How many bad reviews does it take before uhaul realizes there is something wrong at this location?

My appointment was set for 10am, because we were coming from 2 hours away to have it installed, i called a few days prior and was told they would only have my car for 90m-2hrs. Perfect. When I arrived at uhaul, a little before 10, I was told it would be a little bit before they could get it in because it was busy. There were only 2 employees on a Saturday morning, first red flag. When I left the keys with the employee, she was very nice and explained everything to me. We went across the street to get a bite to eat and be able to sit down while we waited because there was absolutely nowhere to sit in the uhaul store. After we ate, noticed our car hadn’t even moved in the almost 90 minutes we had been in the restaurant. We walked back over to get a time estimate since we weren’t expecting it to take that long. When I walked in, the same employee was very short with me and seemed irritated at my questions. When I asked if I could have my keys back so we could go get a rental car and then come back, she was very rude. We returned and dropped off the keys and the car and they still didn’t have anyone available to start our installation. It had been over 2 hours since our initial drop off. We left to go do the things we had planned for the day, expecting it to be another 2 hours before we heard anything. It was almost 4:30 before I received a text saying our car was ready. When we returned, the same woman was there and wouldn’t speak directly to me, just talked to the other woman helping me, about our car. A max 2 hour installation took over 6 hours and cost us an extra $100 to get a rental car. The staff was less than pleasant. The facility had no seating for waiting families. There were 2 people working a very busy Saturday morning. Overall, very unhappy with our experience and would recommend everyone go to another location for hitch installation.

Waited more than an hour in line. Truck that was reserved was not available. Told they had a smaller truck and I could take it or leave it. No accommodations of any kind. Gas at quarter tank. Had to make extra trips. No credit for extra miles or gas. I am a woman, almost 60 and on my own. Had to make extra trips by myself because we burned through time commitments people made. When returning, told to participate in in electrical check before I could leave. Missed my bus.

The staff was fine. U Haul's new policy to call a second party is insulting. It is so insulting that I am thinking about renting from other agencies even if they cost more. I rented from U Haul since my college days and I find it incredibly insulting that the U Haul person had to call someone else to verify a second number.

I was going to rent a trailer to haul my SUV down behind the Uhaul. Contacted the rental location in Lakewood before the move and told them my car had 33 inch tires, the representative there said that it wouldn't be a problem and that the trailer would fit my vehicle. I called the UHaul phone line after this to double check and again they told me that the 33 inch tires would not be a problem. Once again, when I picked up the UHaul truck in the morning I spoke with the manager of the Lakewood location informing her of the tire and vehicle size and she said it would not be a problem and that the vehicle would fit just fine. Only when I came back to pick up the trailer and the associate had it hooked up to the truck did she inform me that the SUV would not fit on the trailer. I lost a few hours of travel time, plus the cost of having to drive the SUV over 1,000 miles to my new location. I would not and will be informing the Active duty military friends I still have up in the JBLM area not to use this location and will be telling them how unhelpful and rude almost the entire staff was. If I had not already had the UHaul all loaded up, I would have cancelled all services through this location.

Just know Tamia is a star! I am a professional mover and often times cannot get my tractor trailer to the shippers house and need to shuttle the shipment back to my truck. It involves a lot of planning, truck placement, and rental. I rented a 26’ truck originally and things were fine. I was then called later by someone different and told that I could only have a 17’ truck. This did not fit my needs for the job. As frustrating as this was, when I went to pick it up, was told all that was available for me was a 15’ truck. At this point, I was basically screwed. Instead of two trips, I was forced into making four and knew this instantly. I’m very easy going, but was extremely disappointed in the coordination by your company. Your savior....Ms. Tamia McKendall. She was extremely understanding and was sympathetic to my situation. I use U-Haul across the country and would hope that I don’t experience this again from your company. I’m not opposed to taking my business elsewhere, but because of Tamia, will let bygones be bygones this time. I apologize for the bickering, but appreciate the forum to vent and the follow up by your company. Thanks, Nick

Everything was sorta going normal the day of pickup. Aside from the website we used to rent the uhaul, gave us a location that didn't even have a single normal truck with a regular bed. So they called someone else after showing up there. To have that place be wrong as well rescheduling it finally all the way back in Lakewood where we had came from. Finally it worked n went smooth there. We signed up for a 20 dollar a day "deal" or whatever you wanna call it, with it having 400 miles available. Anything above that would be 40something cents per mile. And a 100 dollar deposit plus 100 dollars to pay for 4 days. We extended it in the morning for another 24 hours for 3 days. Making it a 7 day long rent. When I went to go use my card the night before turning it in. My card was overdrawn by $66.13 and I had went n made money to pay the bill off. Finally at $0.00 flat. We show up spending 60 dollars to fill the tank up only 2/3rds the way. Driving from bonny Lake to Lakewood it wad a half tank. They tried to have us pay $60 in "gas fees" because it was just short of what we revived it filled up to. So we cross the street. Get more gas. At this point in a single day to just turn it in we are over$90 in in just gas with a 3/4th full tank... So we still got charged 5 bucks for the remaining 1/4th.... They refused our deposit, saying that you don't pay one. And that nobody would have had us do that after an hour of arguing they still refused to even admit we played it. Also saying we had it for 8 days. Not 7. And that instead of 21 dollars a day, it was 76 dollars a day now even tho my debit card had exactly 3 charges to it from Lakewood uhaul. The first 2 for 21 dollars the last one for $23... Also then saying we had to then pay almost a dollar per mile instead and for every mile even the ones included in the package deal we did. So after the 4 days costing only 100 dollars. Even with miles n gas paid for, the remaining 3 well I guess they are saying 4 cost us an additional $700.... N when she was getting irritated finally her choice was to then calculate up exactly how much we would be paying if we were to pay only 200 miles that were over the package limit. And the $76 dollars a day even tho it was charged on my card as 20 every day already mind you. Showing it would be a GRAND for 4 days 200 miles and $5 in gas payments and $25 dollar cleaning fee to clean a perfectly clean truck and keeping the extra $100 deposits we supposedly never paid. And come to find out that even after the phone call first thing in the morning where the worker even told me twice that we had paid everything off and it was only miles we needed to pay and were able to finish that in cash. They refused to let me split it between card and cash forcing us to pay the extra $66.13 I had paid off to try n help my boyfriends financial issue, all in cash as well. So they finally after a long argument told me the bank is going to put back the $66.13 they had taken off my card sense we just

Direct the management to use judgement and discretion when a customer is unable to actually use the service. We should have received a discount or a complete refund after we returned the truck within 30 minutes of renting it with only 7 miles on the vehicle.

I left my credit card accidentally and no one from Uhaul called me. I went back the next day and sure it was there but no one called me to tell me I left it there. They had all the information about me, so why no one called me is suspicious.

I am 68. The phone app is rather confusing...thank goodness an employee was leaving while I was returning a vehicle after 5:00. I was getting so frustrated! I would have been standing outside forever! Please think about seniors that are not so smart phone savvy, or don't even own one. Then to charge 25.00 if you don't use the app before dropping the keys off is totally a rip off!
