They had to change my contract 3 times before a truck could be issued. 1.) No gas, 2.) Wrong gas amount indicated properly on contract(contract said 1/4 and it was less than 1/8 3.)Blankets & Dolly never moved over to the new truck! Etc.

Make it clearer at checkout that the customer is renting the moving blankets, not buying them. I was expecting lightweight blankets that would be basically disposable instead of the very durable ones I was handed.

I had made a reservation earlier in the day for a 6’x12’ open trailer at the Kansas Ave location for 5pm, when I arrived, the location had told me they had canceled my reservation and even rented out the equipment. I did not receive a call from the location or did they put comments in the notes to why my reservations was canceled. The CSR that was at the counter did not apologize for the inconvenience it cause and sent me to the Mchenry location. I myself was once a CSR for U-haul in the past and know first hand that the attitude and lack of concern for the inconvenience would have had me disciplined had I had treated a customer in the manner I was treated. The Mchenry location only had a trailer that was more expensive than I had originally reserved. The employee that was at the Mchenry location was all alone and I believe this is a horrible practice of customer service on U-haul’s end which I know first hand due to being an employee myself of U-haul and can vouch that this is a common practice. I called the 800 phone number that was given and filed a disputed in which I have yet to receive any feedback on til this day.

An extra 5.00 was charged to my debit card without authorization and for an unknown reason. Moreover, no receipt or email was sent to me and had to discover it for myself on my bank statement. The email of the trailer rental that was sent has the charge I expected to pay. The additional 5.00 was without authorization.

I must say doing things on line is not easy, however the gentleman that was there after hours and I am sure was off work still helped us with the key and lock box. If it were not for him it would have been a mess. He was also there when we returned the truck, McHenry location Modesto California. He made sure the 12 hours was billed appropriately, and his help was great too, because I was not I a good mood. I was grateful for the two of them. The man who scheduled it from Arizona was as helpful as possible.

The wait time to check in to get a vehicle was over a hour, not enough staff on hand to handle the busy day of the month.

I feel you need more people staffed on Saturday morning's, to pick up took me almost 45 minutes and the girl was new definitely should have people knowing what there doing at the computer the line was out the door. Also when returning my uhaul on Sunday Morning the guy arrived half hour before you opened but then locked his keys inside and coworker came on his day off to help and unlock the door, which in turn he was able still open by the correct opening time, however he wasn't new he said he never done that and he worked there over 2 years and he very sorry. Completely understandable how ever I suggested to him about putting work keys on a lanyard so that doesn't happen again and able to distinguish work keys from personal keys. My work gives us lanyards fir that very reason so I feel as company to make things easier on employees and consumers you should require work keys be separate and on company provided lanyards. Other than being understaffed and extremely long lines both days, Saturday & Sunday morning your staff was all very nice and polite. Thank you for listening.

Employees were in a bad mood and frustrated they were busy but I reserved a 17 ft truck on line went to go pick it up and was told it wasn’t available they switched it to a 15ft which was to small. Then ended up paying more for a 20 ft trailer. Then it being our first time ever renting from u haul ended in us never wanting to go there again. We were rushed and mislead information regarding our deposit and mileage was told we were going to get our deposit back then when we returned the truck we ended up goin a lil over miles and paid $10 for that and was told we couldn’t get our deposit back when I talked to a representative that morning she stated we would be getting the $50 back! I’ll never use this company ever again nor will I recommend them to anyone. Customer service is important and your employees at this location on McHenry was horrible. Multiple people in line had similar issues and just overall a bad experience

Very bad experience. U Haul service was very disappointing. Conf#21239310 - went to pick up at 8:00 AM at 2716 Coffee Rd. Modesto, CA 95355 to be told after being denied rental that the truck was in Chicago and couldn't be rented despite looking at the truck (TM2428N) in the yard and offering to send a pic. to the person on the phone. The store operator said he had no control - U Haul had made the truck unrentable without notice and too bad so sad. Was able to find a substitute truck at another location and complete the move with an additional $70 in labor for the waiting time caused by the no notification U Haul cancelled rental. The supposed guarantee of "Should U-Haul, through its fault, fail to contact customer the day prior and be unable to meet preferred time, place or size, then the $50 reservation guarantee will be paid and U-Haul will still attempt to fill the reservation." was not honored at all despite time/type of truck and location all being unavailable. The pickup return at the McHenry location was just fine - no problems.

My customer service was horrible we had reservation for multiple vehicles and then informed that they never had those sizes available. Topped that we never received a dally so we had to return in our own vehicles to pick the dally and they asked us why we didn’t bring the truck to pick up the dally

I WAS VERY UPSET WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER. I REQUESTED THE TRUCK AN EXTRA DAY. SHE SAID "IT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR AN EXTRA DAY BECAUSE IT HAS ALREADY BEEN RESERVED FOR THE NEXT DAY. I SAID OK. SHE SAID, " BUT YOU CAN BRING IT BACK A LITTLE LATER IF YOU WANT". I SAID OK. THE NEXT DAY SHE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A WHOLE DAY FEE BECAUSE I BROUGHT IT BACK LATER. WHY WOULD SHE NOT TELL ME THAT. ALSO, WHY WOULD SHE CHARGE ME A 24H FEE FOR A COUPLE OF EXTRA HOURS. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD DO THAT. I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK ON TIME OF COURSE.

Didn’t even acknowledge the fact it’s taking far longer than Hope got there checked in advance the whole deal so we be heading out of there shortly after nine which ended up to be more like 9:45 because the waiting to get someone’s help! But check equipment very well. Truck door has weather stripping was missing therefore very noisey, Trailer had a slow leak in a tire. Very rough ride. Truck pulled to right and steering wheel was not center due to an earlier alignment.

The contract said gruel level was half full, when I got the truck it was empty. The ramp in the back came out and could not be put back in. It cost me a $100 of my movers time with a full truck to resolve. We ended up strapping tamp to back of truck. Poor experience overall. Uhaul offered nothing in terms of compensation for the experience. I will go to Penske for next move.

The dolly was broken, but I was informed to that beforehand, as all other dollies had been reserved/rented. I will make to request a dolly at the time I make reservations in the future. Contract process went well. I was unable to return the equipment at the time requested, called the office and was given an extension. Equipment was in good condition. However, one tire was way below its inflation value. We noticed after the trailer was filled. We added air and it seemed to hold sufficiently. The low tire was the back right.

the U-haul location is not good. It's hard to drive into it while driving north on McHenrey ave. You are almost forced to drive past the location and turn around and then go into the lot that way. The trucks are old and the springs/shock apsorbers are old as well and cause for a really rough ride. However, the people working there were great. Courteous and helpful.

When picking up the pick up truck I rented it had a serious strong smoke smell and my son who has asthma was having a hard time breathing. The manager of this location Danielle White does not have great customer service skills. She needs to ensure that her and her empoyees are making the customers aware of the milege when they first get in the vehicle and that its accurate with what they have on file. I feel that I was charged incorrectly and according to Danielle its my husband's fault. If he didnt check the milege when getting in the vehicle and the uhaul employee inputs the wrong milege by mistake its considered the customer's fault for not checking milege first. So you get over charged. There has to be a better system so customers get charged appropriately.
