Location is very convenient. Staff was pleasant. I was annoyed that the 5x8 trailer that I had reserved 3 weeks prior was not available, and although the upgrade to the 6x12 was free, that was a way bigger trailer than I wanted to pull across the desert. I was more annoyed when I went to pick it up and there was a 5x8 trailer waiting there for someone else! I was told there was no option but to accept the 6x12 or no trailer at all, so to see the 5x8 there really put me off on the whole experience. But, the trailer was fine and clean and my SUV could more than easily pull it.

The employees were friendly and professional. However the truck performed poorly - I felt like I was riding a wild donkey as it kept bucking which was unpleasant, disruptive and put my possessions in jeopardy!!! Plus the windows were manual. The fair thing to do would be to waive the fee or compensate me with a FREE truck on my next move.

Have the truck that was ordered at the location it was ordered at. Don't notify the customer that it's actually in another town 20 minutes after their pick up time.

Rental time was for 2:00pm reservation. Did not actually get to a clerk until 2:30pm, and shop closes at 5:00pm. Staff marked fuel tank as full on checkout, when it was actually 3/4. Fill up before return should have cost only &5, but the shorted gas reading cost me $20. Yes, the checkout procedure says to verify gas, and I was in a hurry because of late checkout. I did not expect UHaul to earn a reputation of taking advantage of customers.

I got the truck with less than a quarter fuel and they didn’t tell me how far I can drive with it. There should be a basic face-to-face guide about the gas usage because I believe lots of people like me just have no idea how much gas a 10’ truck gonna use.

Well, 1st off, the truck was fine, the customer service team was fine BUT the truck was listed in the sheriffs department system as stolen SO at 1030pm after having moved all day, I was pulled over on the freeway by the Sherrifs Department and asked to exit the vehicle at gun point with a LAPD helicopter spot light and new crew on me. After being held in the back on a police cruiser for 45 min and cuffed, my vehicle was searched and my "story" about how and were I rented the vehicle checked out. The Uhaul location was quite apologetic and refunded my money, but over all, Yah, id say less than satisfactory experience with UHAUL. If anyone would like to reach out to to inquire about more information on the situation IE case number etc etc or compensation more in line with my experience I would be very excited and happy to chat. I never plan on renting from UHAUL every again and will certainly actively advise against it. Hope we can chat. Thanks! -Brian (203)-994-1355

Our U-Haul experience today was a nightmare. After booking a location online yesterday, and calling customer service this morning to confirm opening hours, we arrived to be told that it was CLOSED! After spending 40 minutes on the hotline being bounced around from one person to the next, or being dropped entirely, someone was finally able to transfer us to another location. So, we got our Cargo Van 1 hour late, after much driving around and stress. The service at the open Santa Monica U-Haul was awesome, very friendly, helpful, and they told us we would be receiving a $50 refund for the issues. How come U-Haul’s system allowed us to book at a closed location in the first place, how come U-Haul’s customer service rep on the phone didn’t know it was closed?

The truck that I reserved in advance was not ready on time due to the previous customers being late on the return. I had to wait about an hour for it. However, the staff were extremely kind and helpful. They kept me informed. They tried to reduce my wait by doing everything they could.

Santa Monica did not have the Uhaul I reserved but Tony was extremely helpful. I had to drive down to Inglewood to pick up my Uhaul, and as I was driving it out of the lot two homeless people who had been sleeping in the back jumped out of the truck. I would recommend checking trucks for people sleeping in the back before renting them out to customers.

It took the customer service representatives 45 minutes to add insurance to my rental. I also asked for the cheaper version of the insurance and she gave me the more expensive version. Someone else had gave me cash to pay for the insurance, which is why I request the cheaper version. She charged it to my credit card when I never authorized this charge.

My reservation was set for 12pm pickup. I emailed back asking if I could pickup at 10am. I never received an email back. I then recieved another confirmation email saying my pickup was at 12pm. That day when we went to pickup the 10ft truck, it was unavailable becuase uhaul had our pickup time for 10am which was NEVER confirmed. Our order was cancelled at 11am without a call or anything. We had to use a 10ft van, which required us to move in 3 trips as opposed to 1 trip, costing us more in mialage. I am so disappointed in our service this time. I will say the guy that helped us was very friendly.

Made a reservation week ahead of picking up a truck. Arrived at location at the time I reserved and no truck was available. Customer service representative was rude about my situation. No one from U-Haul contacted me the day prior stating there would be an issue with my reservation. Had to wait in line for two hours for an available truck. Rude employee put a person waiting on same truck ahead of me. Only positive was that I was reimbursed $50 for the reservation. Will not recommend U-Haul or shop there in the future

When I arrived and tried to use the App to get my truck it was a bit confusing since it seemed to be asking for information I already provided. I finally got a truck only to find out that they had rented that same truck to someone else. I had to go to the counter to get my truck . The sign said I get $50 if everything was not right. WHERE IS MY $50!! The staff member that showed to my truck was a bit rude - I asked him if the back door was closed on the 10' truck and rather than look he just said "I hope so".

I called customer service and explained the situation, they didn’t do anything either. I decided to go different U-Haul locations back n forth and ended up getting smaller vehicle . The express pickup wasn’t quite express. It would have been helpful to be told beforehand that there would be a long approval process via the website. I’d recommend this location only with the caveat that things may not to as quickly as implied.

My transaction was prompt and courteous. Everyone I dealt with from pick up to return was friendly and helpful. One suggestion I might make is to have small maps printed showing where there is local multiple-hour parking, for customers who are renting solo and need to leave their cars nearby. I was able to get one of the few remaining spots on the 11th St. bridge, but it might have been time-consuming otherwise.

This rental has turned into a big headache. I was double billed and charged for damage I didn't commit. I was able to get a refund on the erroneous damage charges, but was still double billed for the rental. I've spoken to the manager and have sent emails to the corporate office and still a month later have not received back my refund for being double billed.

Just traveled four hours to this location, needed to use the restroom - plumbing was out. Ughhhhh The young lady at the counter was exceptional; the man outside getting my vehicle ready was rude and nasty. I ended up with the wrong size truck (was given a smaller size although I paid for a larger size (man would not fix it) and was overcharged for the number of blankets received (6). Both issues were due to a flaw in the online reservation system.

As a regular customer, who rents almost on a weekly basis, there should be a much easier, quicker and more efficient procedure for signing in for picking up the rental vehicle. The new procedure makes no sense for customers who rent on a frequent basis. With today’s information technology, it should be easy for UHaul to securely maintain and store our pertinent information and images, so that the pick up procedure is quick and efficient.

The customer service representatives I spoke to were very helpful and had a funny sense of humor. Will definitely go back next time I need to rent equipment. However, one thing I was very disappointed with was that they ran out of equipment. I specifically ordered two utility dollies ahead of time online and they were not available there when I arrived on time. Luckily they had the appliance dolly available.

I made an appointment all three times but had to stand in line for over 30 minutes first time and at least 20 second time. It’s absolutely ridiculous that it takes that long and no information is saved!! I did the online check in that said it cuts pick up time in half. It did not!

I was told by UHaul that I could drop the trailer at any UHaul location in Los Angeles. The first one closest would not take equipment because they were closing that location. At the second one on Overland Avenue, we were approached by a man who said he was the owner and he would not take our trailer. We asked why, he said in a gruff voice, "my shop, my rules". We had to then drive fifteen miles in heavy LA afternoon traffic on the freeway to Santa Monica. Not even in the same city. Service there was OK, but slow. We were very unhappy about this experience.

At 715am on a Saturday there was a line of 10 people/customers inside. No one at the desk. The only reason that changed was because someone from the line went out looking for staff. At 730am another guy casually started working to check people in... but not before he'd taken a few minutes to make himself a coffee first. Once I'd finally been served, outside was no better. No one did anything for the first 10mins (except from one guy who just checked my contract again and said 'someone would be with me soon'). There was confusion/discussion around which pickup and auto-transport I was going to have (why was this an issue when I made the booking on Wednesday?!) and then the guy hooking it up couldn't have moved slower/gave less of a shit about anything. I pulled out of uhaul at 8am... an hour after I arrived. I was told (on the phone) to be there first thing (7am) cause Saturdays are 'crazy' but what's the point of that if there's no from uhaul around?!

I was told there would be a Dali in the truck that I would pay $7 for if I used. I got to the location of my move and opened the back and there was no Dali in the truck. I called the location and waited 10 minutes and nobody picked up and I was transferred to the corporate number. I called back and same thing happened. I was told they would call me. Never happened. I was told that I wouldn’t be billed for the Dali....yeah I know!! I was never offered anything to make up for the fact that I was extremely inconvenienced and then had to go out of my way to rent a Dali from another U-haul.

The parking lot is set up horribly and is very confusing. I moved on June 1st, the guy working there said that this was the busiest day of the entire year since the college kids are all moving to. There were THREE employees and the line was so long. It was so slow. When it came time to return the uhaul, my boyfriend waited in line for 20 minutes until finally one employee asked if anyone was here just to return. He said 15 people raised their hands and she said, "Oh, you can just leave your paperwork here. You don't have to wait in line." Not sure why he and everyone else waiting in line wasn't told that when they entered the store... it was completely understaffed and chaotic.

Mr Gale who seems to run the place is a complete asset to your brand. In every way. And he doesn't get bent out of shape and he knows EVERYTHING. I will definitely go back. My truck however was a problem. A day in the air vents stopped working and would only blow out of the defrost at the window. I had 3 days driving in the desert so no AC was a nightmare. Furthermore the Aux cable input worked very poorly so I couldn't listen to anything I wanted to. I can't say either issue is the fault of the pick up location because they failed on the road. Were it not for great service at both ends you'd be receiving a big complaint. Your employees saved the day
