Spoke with 3 representatives regarding shipping from Minnesota to a different state, got 3 completely different responses regarding payment. One rep said “pay around $100 today to reserve/place your stuff I’m the box... pay the full $1000+ amount when it arrives I’m the destination state.” 2nd rep said “you can split the payments up, just has to be half due today, and you can pay the rest in the destination state.” The 3rd rep stated “Everything is either due right now or you can ONLY pay cash now and the rest will be charged to your card. U-Haul pretty much pays the shipping and your payment is reimbursement, we can’t ship the container until a payment is made.” We ended up going with the last option however he advised our card will not be charged until we pick the box up at the store/it gets shipped to the shipping address. We told the guy we would be using a different card, not the one on file, they advised the card on file would be removed... Definitely would recommend retraining reps so everyone has the same understanding on shipping process and how to communicate effectively with customers.

We have rented from the University Ave location twice and had the same manager help us both times. He runs his business very professionally and friendly. He's awesome! Hopefully we never need to rent a U-haul again, but if we do, we will be returning.

These guys do just fantastic by us! The equipment is not always in the best shape, but the staff always makes the most of it and go out of their way to support us. They remain positive and even keeled in what looks like a very busy location.

I saw on my bank statement that they had double charged me. I call to speak with manager, he told me 1 was pending and the other was charged so wait 5-7 days for the pending to be refunded. Then the next day I got an email for my receipt and I saw that they did double charge me after the fact I called about it. And on my receipt it says I picked it up on 1/19 @ 3:33pm and returned on 1/20 @ 930pm, which was not true cuz I had if for 4 hrs and returned it the same night and checked it in. They employee I talked to on the phone told me that in their system I never returned it, but she did see that I did. I got a call later on from a manager and she told me that I would get a refund. Now its a waiting game on that part. I will never rent from uhaul ever again, customer service from the moment I entered the store and after is the worst experience I have ever encountered.

The last few times I have been to your location I have encountered miserable employees with terrible customer service. The guy I dealt with last year for example, was so bad I swore I would never visit the University location again. And then the woman who rented to me this time was morose. However, the other woman I dealt with when returning was much better. So, mixed reviews. We all have bad days. I get it. But sometimes a company only gets one chance to make an impression. If you want to avoid poor customer service, "Use the app", you may suggest. My hesitation with using a U-Haul app is that I will forget some step and get a hefty charge for a technicality. Over the years I have had bad experiences with car rentals and U-Haul is similar. Ultimately, it's a trust thing. Also, it's not the fault of the University location of course but the rental cost is too high. All I needed was a vehicle to run out to Blaine and pick something up. Took me about an hour. I picked it up in the evening and returned the next morning. I used one of your cargo vans which was advertised at $19.95 but with mileage and gas I spent $65. So, the advertised cost reflects only about 30% of the total cost.

Lot was FULL. Had to drive over a curb to get into the lot. Drop off was full almost to street. Almost impossible to get into entry/driveway. U-HAUL company/app Forced me to go to this location. I agreed to a drop it off closer to my home but had to drive twice the distance to go here.

I was very dissatisfied with the service yesterday. This location is usually where I rent all my U-Haul needs. However, I had to ask if they would help clean the snow out of the trailer and upon return I was greeted and asked if I knew where I got it from. With my yes response, I was told to put it back there and I was good to go. As I was taking the trailer off my hitch I hurt my hand and could have done a lot worse. After my experience I will reconsider using this location.

I tried very hard to use the late check in procedure. I spent 20 minutes on the second screen in the truck return procedure. It was cold. The app did not work. I could not get past that step, and did not do all that was expected. I suppose that is why my bill was $20 higher today. Thanks a lot. At least I got my job done.

equipment was in disrepair. the tie downs were rusty and had to use WD40 and I am not sure if they were even safe. The one light on the dolly was not working. This technology where the wheel is secured by straps is dangerous. One of the straps came off on one of the wheels in transit. I had to spend $20.00 to get someone to redo it. Over time the strap slips and is dangerous. Wrong technology!

Staff was unresponsive, rental agreement had different numbers listed for mileage and gas tank level than the truck I was given. Upon return of the truck, the Uhaul website said I had driven over 3,200 miles and owed over $4,000 even though I hadn’t left Saint Paul and drove less than 15 miles.

Door of vehicle had to be closed multiple times before it would latch. Also vehicle smelled of cigarettes. I returned the vehicle with as close as I could tell (I have pictures) the same amount of gas, but was charged $8 for 2 gallons which is a ripe off. But $8 wasn’t worth filing a complaint. I mean to I would tell a friend there is a Uhaul at that location and be prepared to get charged for gas even if they do refill it.

University Avenue was a decent location. The two Maplewood locations were awful. I was disrespected and then the general manager lied to customer service and I should have received a call immediately back about the situation and instead was told I would get a call within three days.

Truck was 1/8th tank below full when they said it was full. I requested a 15' truck and it said it was reserved for me. When I got there truck was not available so I had to use a smaller truck. Employees weren't friendly.

You need more than one person working at the inside counter on a Saturday. Also, there was a clear disconnect between when I confirmed my reservation and then picked up the truck. I specifically asked on the phone when I needed to return the truck. The person told me anytime that day. Then I get there to pick up the truck and I'm told it has to be back by 2pm because someone else needs it at 3pm. Kind of annoying.

The location was good. The app was very confusing because it was not able to identify me by my contract number and name. I had to call the 800 number and wait quite a while to get the instructions to log out and search with my contract number and name even though my account was based on the email and cellphone I had provided. Very confusing! It all worked in the end, though, so thank you.

U-Haul is a very difficult place for people to work. I would feel better going there if I knew the workers were well paid but I know they are not. Big companies have too much of a profit focus and not enough on creating jobs with a livable wage, that people can stay in for a long time. This has nothing to do with anything anyone at the location has said. I just think you should ask for reviews of companies, not employees. They are being used as shields to defend company polices. So I put excellent for everything because I dont want anyone to give the already overworked and underpaid workers a hard time. They do a great job.

- truck smelled like smoke, otherwise clean - 1 staff member working behind the counter at 9:30 am on a Saturday with 5 people in line waiting to get their trucks. Took a very long time to get it. - had a truck reserved at another location. When it wasn't ready I got a call from Nina with Uhaul telling me there was a smaller truck available in the late afternoon or a cargo van immediately and that there were no other options within 30 miles. Being we were moving (people waiting at our house to help us move), neither would work. The person at the previous location then found 2 trucks well within the 30 miles. 1 was a larger, one way fleet truck which we were told we could not use. The other was a smaller truck, but we made due with it. The $50 guarantee I do not feel like makes up for the 1.5 hr delay we had in moving, the fact that we now had to make extra trips because we had a smaller truck and Nina's horrible customer service (how can you say there are no options in 30 miles, when we went online and found one...). This does not make me want to use uhaul again.

The staffing needs to be increased or be more efficient in processing customers. I rented a truck on-line and it still took 40 minutes to check it out. One person was helping everyone at the counter while the other person ( a woman) sat behind a computer screen ignoring everyone. She finally offered to help the customer behind us.

Previous to getting a 15 foot truck from this location i had completed an online registration for a 15 ft truck at a different location for 11/17/19 at noon, howvere, when i got to that other location they said they did not have a truck for me to use. I called uhaul customer service and spoke to a lovely woman who found a truck for me at this location. She and the people at this location helped me get my move done. It was a pleasure working with uhaul customer service and this location!! Thank you!!
