I would recommend this location. However, this is not the location we made a reservation. We made a reservation in Goleta California Months ago knowing we would be moving out our daughter from UCSB. We received a confirmation our trailer would be available in Goleta but were notified two days before we were to pick up the trailer that one was not available and we had to drive more than an hour to get it. We drove to Ventura on E. Thompson and picked up the trailer. If I ever need to use this service I would use the Ventura location if possible.

First thing is the morning there is a huge line of people and only one or two staff. I used the online check-in and it was so worth it. Picking up my truck was a breeze and turning it in was just as easy. I definitely recommend using the online feature to speed things up, especially when there are so many people waiting in line all at once.

The 15 foot truck provided to me had issues with the throttle. The throttle stuck open when decelerating, as in slowing down when exiting a highway ramp. The engine continued at high RPMs. The throttle also stuck open once when backing out of a parking space almost causing me to hit other vehicles, requiring me to slam on the brakes and shift to neutral.

The truck was not ready as promised but they made a call and another one came in 1 hour later. The main issue with truck was a filthy windshield. They cleaned it but was still full of bugs outside. I was anxious to leave so I accepted it.

Upon arrival we explained to the rep that we were late was it a problem? She said no but then said we could not keep the trailer for 6 hours because someone who made a reservation a week ago instead of the night before had the trailer reserved at 230pm so We had to have it back at 2pm or there was a $500 charge. We then proceeded to take a half hour to do paperwork and another while to get the trailer loaded in no particular hurry. We called uhaul and verified that there was no such $500 late charge but there was a small late charge. Instead of dealing with her awful customer service and bad attitude, we returned the trailer about 1pm and will have to rent the trailer again next weekend, a cost that could have been avoided if we had the full 6 hours. A courtesy call to let us know there was an afternoon reservation when we weren’t in at 8am would have been appreciated. Now, we have to spend double the cost to rent twice. We won’t do business with this location anymore.

Van was not clean, especially windshield. But staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. Van was perfect for our needs. However we would not rent again due to the policy regarding dings, scuffs and any other minor wear. Small stickers were all over this van marking any damage even as small as a tiny ding. We did not have any issues with this but we were so worried about it it made the rental a negative experience.

Half of my rented blankets were damp when rented and I couldn't use them. They smelled of mildew so were obviously bagged too early. Was not happy but didnt have time to take them back.

Offer a flat daily rate or use a different system for payment. I don’t like how Uhaul projects the cost take that from my account then when returning add another balance. Too much of my money was on hold and not allowing me to touch my money. I feel like Uhaul can take whatever they want. I don’t like that.

Attempted to use phone pickup. The truck was blocked in so I had to go into the building. There was a line out the door of people waiting and only one person working the desk. When it was finally my turn, the appliance dolly that I had reserved wasn't available. Overall the service and attitude were lackluster.

I rent a Van for moving a freezer from Ventura to Santa Barbara. The lady who workes there asked me how far it would be, I said it will be around 90 miles, then she didn't say anything else and charged me $63 for my trip. But when I came back returning the Van, She said I drove over 100 miles, so I should pay total $110. Before I took the Van, she did not say anything about the price would be different if it is over 100 miles. I drove over that 18 miles just the distance from Uhaul Ventura to my home. If I knew there is limited mileage rule, I would leave my car near by the Uhaul location. I don't have to go back home to take my car and then return the Van. I don't know how your employees work, they should let the customer know as less as they can? I never had this bad experience in the past. Now I feel Uhaul is making trap for customers. I will never rent Uhaul any more.

I have sent an separate email explaining my experience. I am very disappointed with how I was treated. I was overcharged on my credit card an amount that was a different amount from the invoice amount that I signed for. I then received a call 3 hours making accusation that I had dented the van.

The guys there were, unfortunately, dealing with individuals cutting the gas lines of the trucks to steal gas. The first truck I had was victim to this and the guys traded in my trucks very quickly which helped with my tight timeline. I appreciate the service and professionalism.

I have rented trucks from this location before and everything was great. This time, however, not so much. They scanned my drivers license and my birthdate was wrong and I couldn't rent a truck, even though my birthday was correct on the front of my license. Then my friend came to rent it for me, and the same thing happened to her.....

The ONLY thing I questioned was the phone rep booked a MUCH bigger truck needed. I told him I was picking up 2 X 6 ft chaise lounge chairs. He booked a 10 ft truck at $19.95 plus $1.09/ mile. When we got there we over rode him and insisted on the cargo van which would have fit 6 chaise lounges easily plus even more for $19.95 plus $.79 / mile. We drove 80 miles and that would have cost us an extra $24 had we listened to him. To me, it was an obvious case of oversell. After we got past that, at the site, everything went PERFECT, polite people, clean truck, fast check in and check out.

Very disappointed due to my unique situation. I rented a truck and drove 5 miles to load my moms furniture but the cleaning staff at her house decided to purchase the furniture therefore I did not need the u-haul truck. I returned the truck within 1 hour but had to wait for customer service due to busy location which set me outside of the 1 hour timeline. I asked for some kind of refund since i didn't even use the truck but I was still charged $49.99 for less than 10 miles use, no gas used, and the truck was in my posession for possibly 45-50 minutes. I would like to ask for a review and refund of at least 50%. Thank you for your consideration

Greet people when they enter the store and acknowledge they are there. I left my phone in the rental vehicle and when called to see if they had it was advised they were too busy to help. I just spent $83.00 for three hours and they were to busy to check if my phone was in there truck. No one ever called back either.

Workers refuse to help and just sit around on their phones. Employees that are avaiable are physically unable to do work and forced to stress their bodies to the point of injury and damaged my trailer hitch on my car by setting the trailer on my hitch and having it slide off. Workers were very rude and did not help me drive out of the parking lot. Other Uhaul locations bring trailer to my vehicle and direct me out of the facility and this one I had to make a 10 point turn and was only able to exit through the entrance when a passerby noticed I was struggling. Workers are incompetent and management is either completely unaware or ignorant to the terrible service they support. Changes need to be made and wrongs need to be righted.

When my truck was found to have a problem, and I was freaking out, the owner helped me call roadside assistance. He was awesome and I feel bad that he has to deal with people vandalizing his trucks. The gas line in the truck I had was cut, but after I spoke with roadside assistance, someone was out to fix right away and I was on the road in less than an hour. I was so impressed between the Owner of this Ventura location and The U-Haul company in general.

I have used uhaul many times and never had a bad experience. I rented an open trailer.. They put 2 packs of blankets in the trailer. As soon as I got on the 101 freeway the blankets came out of the trailer. I believe they were not shrink wrapped properly because they would not fly out as a tight packed bundle. I went back to the store and the owner told me they were my responsibility and it would be $120 for the lost blankets. After some haggling we agreed on $60 for half the blankets. Then he said he had no more blankets. I proceeded without blankets. When I got back on the 101 Fwy I saw that half the blanket were recoverable from the right side of the Fwy. We returned the trailer with the 6 blankets and I don't think I was charged. The point is the whole ordeal kinda ruined our day.

I blew a tire and COULD NOT contact u haul. Tried for an hour Finally drove to an open location found on phone. Arrived and waited an hour and a half before they finally put an unmatched tire on. Don't rent for cross country like I did. Check out competitors for spare tire and service. Don't go across Wyoming or Nebraska without prayer because u haul is no help.

I got the uhaul on a Monday and came back the next day with it loaded, intending to attach my car to be towed onto it. When I arrived, there was only one person working and quite a few people in line. I don’t mind waiting, but it didn’t make sense to me that she was both doing lots of paperwork and getting people equipped with their rentals and also having to do things like move vehicles and attach cars to the trailer hitches. Finally, another employee showed up and actually was the one to attach my car. He explained how to attach my vehicle and what I’d need to do to detach it if needed because he informed me that not all uhaul locations would actually detach it for me. I have to say, that seems very ridiculous that not ever uhaul location would be able to help someone with this equipment especially as I’d imagine most people have never used it before such as myself! Finally I got on the road and on my second night, I had a problem because I pulled into a parking lot that didn’t have a through exit. That was a mistake on my part of course but I hoped I could use your roadside assistance to get me backed up. I had been told that I could call it for any reason by the Ventura uhaul. Once I called though, I was informed they do not help with the problem I was having. Ultimately, I had to call a tow truck service in Eugene Oregon and pay $150 to get out of the situation and all the while, the person helping us had a lot of problems with the trailer hitch and it seems my car was actually improperly placed on there and was actually at a strange angle the whole time I was driving! Finally, I got into Seattle and looked up a location to drop off the uhaul. I had been told I could go to any location for drop off and wasn’t assigned a location initially in Ventura. That being said, I did receive an email mentioning a shoreline location but I didn’t think I needed to take it there specifically because, like I mentioned above, I was informed it didn’t matter where I dropped it. So anyway I get to the location on Rainier ave in Seattle and had an even more terrible experience. I pulled in with no one to greet me or tell me where to go until an employee told me to move the vehicle because she needed to take pictures of the other vehicles. So I did that and then asked for help to get my car off the trailer hitch. A different employee tried to help me but didn’t seem to know what he was doing in the slightest and attempted to tell me to drive my car off the ramp even though I could see that my car wasn’t positioned in a way to do it safely. I proceeded to get in my vehicle and attempt to start my car at that point (it took about 5 mins to start as it’s a Volkswagen Beetle and was stuck in the locked position) and once it started I looked all over for this employee and he was no where to be found. Finally the other employee showed up and I asked for help and she initially didn’t want to help and told me just to drive off the ramp and I had to ask multiple

this was the second time I reserved a trailer that when I got there it was no longer available and if I wanted too I could drive to another location and pick one up. I will not be doing any future business with U-Hall. When I drive in and make a reservation and I am told by the manager that it was not available that day but it was available the next morning I made the reservation got there in the morning and was told it was on reservation for someone else. 2nd time I won't get burned a 3rd.

I made a reservation on my cellphone, and was still a long wait on Sunday morning to pick it up. It was also a long wait to drop it off. There were two people behind the counter in the morning and only one in the afternoon when I dropped it off. There should be at least two people during the weekends. Other than that, they were friendly and professional.

I had a return without receipt (because stuff gets misplaced when moving and i was exhausted) and the first agent i spoke to gave me a lot of grief and i felt treated me like a potential theif. Gentlemam working there stepped in and assisted but it still took a very long time for first agent to do the paperwork and i was not happy with her attitude. His was stellar both earlier that day and at that time. A little understanding and compassion goes a long way during the highly stressful time that moving always is.

Waited in store, 3.5 hours in the store for box to be prepared due to scheduled pick up not be entered correctly. Requested to speak with Store Manager and have not received response. RIDICULOUS!

The manager, Anthony, gives 5-star service. However, this location’s setup is not optimal for long-term storage. If you primarily need moving services, it’s a great choice! Great people.

I did not expect the u-boxes to be so small, I had to leave many possessions behind. Calling u-boxes to verify details was torturous, minimum wait 25 minutes & > to reach a person. People nice tho.
