Uhaul's "Any car can tow" advertisement is untrue. They told me they could attach a hitch to my car, but when I got there they told me they didn't have the parts or the person to install it. So I had to go to another location to rent a truck with a tow dolly for my car instead of a trailer, but that location didn't have it ready (even though the employee on the phone said it was) so I had to go to yet another location. It took over 1,5 hours to get that truck ready with the tow dolly while I waited in the store. They told me to hitch my car to the dolly myself and I had to request assistance, which was funny because then that employee couldn't figure it out either and had to get additional help. But the tow dolly ended up being too short and damaged my car! I had to leave my car there, drive the rental truck to my new place 2 hours away, and then drive it BACK to the same location to pick up my car. It was an absolute disaster and the employees, while very nice, were not very helpful. I had to come up with a solution to every problem that arose because they didn't offer any help, they just told me what I couldn't do. I will not be using Uhaul again.KATHLEEN F.

Everything about this rental was wrong. They gave me the wrong trailer, the trailer had lights out, and when I went to return it they tried to charge me the wrong amount and all of the employees were rude about it. Overall extremely poor experience.MATTHEW B.
I decided to take a little extra time to complete this evaluation because I was so impressed with the manager of this location (Heidi Goldrup) and one of her employees (Mira Goodwin). They were both professional, polite, efficient and did an excellent job (on both a professional and compassionate level) helping me resolve a problem. I was attempting to do a contactless rental reservation. There was some sort of glitch so I was not able to complete my reservation online. Mira Goodwin went way above and beyond the average employee. She not only stayed way past closing time to help me get the problem solved, she also maintained a pleasant, professional attitude the entire time (even though it was the end of what I'm sure was a long day for her). That was very impressive to see - not only from the perspective of how she is as a person / employee, but also because it's not as though I was a very big, very important client spending a lot of money. I was just renting one vehicle for one day and yet Mira put in the extra time and effort to help me - that was impressive. Although Mira was the employee I had the most direct contact with, I'd also like you to know that the manager at that location also impressed me. The manager is responsible for the condition of the vehicles and I must say the vehicles I rented from that location were the cleanest I've ever rented anywhere (so, although I don't have their names, I'd like to say whichever employees are responsible for cleaning the rentals at that location also do a great job because every vehicle I rented was spotless) The other thing I'd like to say (about Heidi) is that I have been at that location when it's been a bit chaotic and she handles matters (and the craziness that can come with being very busy), in a professional manner. I think the thing that impressed me the most is the fact that I have been there when Heidi (and her employees) have been having to deal with customers who were being difficult. As someone who has previously been a manager, I know it's easy to handle things when the going is easy (and people you're dealing with are polite and pleasant); however, the true challenge is when both the situation and the people are unpleasant and the problem difficult to resolve The employees that were around at the time maintained neutral, professional attitudes (with neutral, bland facial expressions and voices), and Heidi did a masterful job of handling difficult customers. So, I was impressed with Heidi, Mira and whomever cleaned the vehicles I rented from the U Haul location on Washington Street in Bangor, Me. Due to the way they do their jobs, those employees are why I will now be a lifelong customer - and recommend your company to others. I hope my taking some time to write this evaluation has been helpful in some way - and, since this is the season of Thanksgiving, this matter (and the people nibbled with it), is something I give thanks for this November. I also hope the time I took to write this lets you know that you never know how small things you do during a day can make a big difference in someone else's life. I have had good experiences with the staff. One suggestion is the boxes in the office somewhat block the view of the desk and it does not feel as welcoming as it could. Likewise, greeting people as they are coming across the room instead of waiting until it's their turn to be waited on just makes people feel more welcome. The gas tank was said to be full but it was closer to 3/4 of a tank. I didn't realize until I filled the tank up all the way and the dial went way beyond where it had been when I picked it up.ALESSANDRA G.

If you have to cancel the truck we need on the day we need it, there should be reimbursement of some kind as it will cost more for us with the additional mileage. Also, keep the current reservation info (timelines of rental) so that you don't think we are late returning a truck, when it was actually the location's error showing incorrect timelines.DREW W.

We've rented several uhaul trucks over the last couple of months and still have more to do. This was by far the worst experience. From trying to find an available unit (speaking to several locations including the call center) to having to go back to the rental location (after being more than 10 miles awayâ€¦..and we are paying for mileage) to get the appliance dolly they failed to put in the truck before we left.DANIELLE R.

Harold, my husband, fell out of the truck with the truck OFF at the docking station upon our return from dump. He missed the step as the seat sits HIGH on the 10 foot truck. His head was the first to strike a metal trailer tongue. He was taken to ER HOSPITAL with head wound and bleeding. He suffered neck and shoulder pain as well as head pain. CAT scan done. We arranged for after hours pick up as we were flying across the country arriving late in the evening and our destination was an hour away from Bangor. I contacted U-Haul several times to confirm my pick up instructions because I was worried about having a problem late at night. Everything on the app looked correct for pick up until we arrived at almost 9 PM in Bangor. I tried to initiate pick up and it was not working. We took a cab to U-Haul, still not working. Called U-Haul and put on hold with approximate 20 minute wait time, then the wait time jumped to 87 minutes, called a different number got a person, put on hold they never returned. Called back, got a person and I explained what was going on, she was very nice and promised not to put me on hold, she got a manager involved, they told us they called someone from the local store and got no answer, they offered to have us pick up another vehicle 44 miles away, but seeing as we were relying on cab transportation that was not practical, we sat outside the U-Haul until 10 PM trying to find a solution. Finally we gave up and rented a 400 $hotel room there was no vacancy other places we had tried, and we were just done. Took a cab there took a cab back. When we arrived in the morning to pick up our U-Haul there was no apology from the local staff, and they blamed U-Haul for not calling them about it the day before. Since everything seem to be in order electronically on my end until we arrived, my guess is the local person failed to make sure the key was in the box and set up before they left for the night. She also wanted to know why no one had called her because she was by her phone all night and lived only 10 mins away. Still offered no apology or discount for our terrible experience. I called customer service and was offered 50 $off. We lost a day of the limited time we had and spend 400 $on a hotel room. It was a pretty stressful and disappointing experience.RENE T.

Have someone Explain how to unhook trailer so it doesn't roll, it would have been fine if uhual.com didn't skip the video with no way back. It was heavy and rolled! The pads were missing, but the manager in Bangor, Heidi Fernandes, was very apologetic and took 50$ off my rental. I managed with my blankets because I only had 4 pieces of furniture, the rest was boxes. The Ubox was shipped promptly and almost beat me home. The manager, Chris in Fresno was very helpful and everything was in perfect shape when we opened the box on arrival at my home. I'm an extremely satisfied customer and will always recommend a Ubox to anyone moving!! So glad Uhaul offers this serviceJudy L.
