Folks, the Oak Harbor at Rt 20 U-Haul was "World Class." Jeff, Shelbie, Chris, and Fred were amazing to deal with. It is after all the people that make it the very best. The equipment was in great condition, they were friendly, efficient and fun to deal with. We had a minot glitch when the system coded the 7K trailer as being able to transport the pickup we needed to move as OK but they responded quickly to exchanging it for a vehicle tow dolly, adjusted the agreement and off we went. I have never had any problem when I rented equipment at this location, however I did have a family member who reserved a trailer for a move from Oak Harbor to Coos Bay, Oregon only to be contact and told the trailer would not be available and he should rent it at another location. Not knowing the area he rent one in Olympia and ended up paying and extra $50 for the ferry just to get up to Oak Harbor. When he arrived here he went by the store and saw several trailers the size he reserved as you can image he wasn't very happy. When he contacted U Haul about it the response he got was basically, Oh well. for that reason I would be hesitate to recommend renting from this location unless you are from the area.

pay by credit card by phone would be helpful as we hired a mover/driver and we had to go to uhaul location to meet him there & pay for the truck by credit card at the location and not by phone. that is the only improvement .

We were in a pinch for the equipment needed, couldn't find it locally so we took a chance driving 40 miles north for the equipment, our reservation was double booked, but Chris helped us get what we needed and we were able to use the equipment longer than originally estimated the need for it.

I rented a truck one way online for three days, but when all was said and done, the contract from this company was for 2 days, but only 24 hours. This led to many headaches on top of moving. I don't know where the miscommunication came in, but my online contract was clearly for three days. However, they were very friendly, had equipment ready and we're willing to help (hence the above average rating).

First, I must make it clear that the U-haul people I've interacted with have been competent, professional, and as helpful as they could be given the circumstances. They deserve to work for a company that isn't as screwed up. My first attempt to reserve a truck failed. The website was wonky. I'd tick the "see more options" button and nothing would happen. I selected a truck size the pick-up & drop-off locations. The website then advised I could save $190 if I was "flexible"; when I ticked that button, the website said I'd save $190 if I returned the truck to Sunnyside, WA, instead of Kennewick, WA - and U-haul would give me an extra mileage allowance. Sold! Except I couldn't complete the transaction. The website never brought up the checkout page. I tried again later. Now, there's no option to return the truck to Sunnyside, the price is 50% higher than what I would have paid if the website hadn't hung up on me. I am not pleased. We went to pick up the truck Saturday morning. Others arrived before the store opened, as well. We waited well past out 9:00 a.m. pick up time. The hold up was that one of the computer terminals froze. The functioning terminal was having issues. The manager told us they've been having a lot of problems with U-haul's system. Shortly after we picked up the truck, I received a text message with my order number, advising the rental was due back on July 30th and listing the drop off location I'd selected during my online order & that is shown on the printed receipt I received when we picked up the truck. At 6:45 a.m. Sunday, I received another text message that read, "U-Haul res # 25759066 is scheduled for 9:31 AM on 7/27/2019 to 9:00 AM on 7/30/2019. Visit uhaul.com for express check in." Sunday afternoon, Jim headed to the drop-off location on South Washington in Kennewick. The business is closed, but there's a key drop box. I click on the "visit uhaul" link in the text, and a message pops up telling me that the express drop-off will only work if I'm at 7600 West Deschutes. Local folks recognize that this is on the opposite end of Kennewick. I try longging into U-haul's site on my phone, but I cannot log in. We leave the truck at the store on South Washington & drive home, intending to straighten this out online. Except I cannot. I finally manage to log in using my order number, but selecting "my order" takes me back to the sign-in page. I try their chat function. Whilst chatting with Dallas - who apologetically advised they're having problems with "the system" - I learn that the location to which I was told to return the truck is not accepting more equipment, and I have to return the truck to the West Deschutes location. I unapologetically advise Dallas that this is U-hauls' problem, not mine, as I took the truck where I was told to take it. Apparently "the system" changed the drop-off location at 6:44 Sunday without my approval and without telling me. I asked Dallas who was going to pay for my time

This location was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helped me load the packing items I purchased. The truck was clean but is in need of mechanical maintenance. The front end shakes and moves around a lot. Difficult to drive and could pose a problem for a novice driver. Would recommend front end alignment.

The truck was fine and worked well. However, the cabin dome light stayed on for hours, and we had no idea how to turn it off. It seemed to go off by itself after a long while. This truck was very high to climb into, and I (a woman of average height) had difficulty getting into it. Possibly you could provide some kind of small portable stair step to help people with this problem. It could be added as a possible rental item, or simply provided for free when requested. The place where I picked up had friendly and helpful personnel, but I was not able to pay cash there since they were not yet set up to do so. That would be helpful, if a customer could pay cash if desired.
