I'm sorry this location has to bear the brunt of this critique, but after getting the runaround most of 11/13-14/2021 I tried to call the 1-800 customer service number but it had a 30 minute wait. So here goes. What a terrible experience with U-Haul in general. Was told on 1-800 that when doing a one way move you get the newest equipment. NO old truck. Kid working their even told me it was an old truck when hooking up the auto carrier. Also, during the pickup process was told I could take the auto carrier to a place in Ottawa, IL even though the "system" said I had to go to Marsailles,IL. They checked the box not determined or something and said over and over again by 2 different people that I could go to Ottawa, IL sat. morning open 8a-12p and get the auto transporter removed so I could get back home to unload with hired help scheduled to be there at 11am. Go to the first place in Ottawa, IL, J&R Auto repair and the rep basically told me to beat it. I don't care what they told you in West Lafayette, IN but you can't drop it here and we're not going to help you. All while smoking a cigarette while another U-Haul customer waited. Lady told me J&R was a car repair shop. I added and a U-Haul rental location. She didn't like that much. Tried calling 1-800 U-Haul and somehow got the regional office for that part of IL. She wasn't any help and could care less also. Kept saying what I signed for on my contract. Again, my pickup location stated I could. Finally after driving all around Ottawa I drive to Marsailles and my U-Haul text says 362 Main St. NO, it's 462 Main St. Again, driving around this little bitty town with a 20' U-Haul truck pulling my car. Then when I get there, the guy tells me he isn't going to help me unhook (at my pickup location they hooked me up and secured. I drove my car onto the carrier. Stated I'd again have to back it off, but they'd unhook the carrier for you). The guy in Marsailles said he was an independent dealer not a storage center and complaining about the State minimum wage causing most of the area's U-Haul's to close. Finally, he did unhook me. Anyway, what a bad experience once in IL. Driving around burning fuel, adding miles and being late for my paid unloaders just trying to get my auto hauler taken off.Marc B.

Charged missing blankets to my credit card that I never received in the first place. We returned the truck with more fuel in it than when picked up and I still got charged for 2 gallons!!! I went over my mileage by 2 miles and was charged. Had to move items out of my deceased brothers house and now have more hassle with uhaul to clear up. 116 $in extra charges that should not be there.DARCY Y.
Pick up is not at the specified location. It's on a different street. Key pickup is on even a different street. No signs no help no one answers a phone. Rachel was rude and let the phone ring when I called back for 42 minutes until 7 om when a traffics person came in who was WONDERFUL. Because Of all the misinformation I didn't get my truck until 2 hours late. Missed picking up furniture and delayed the move today. My location could never be verified pick up or return. Trailer arrived at pickup location pretty beat up and dented. I took photos before I drove off the lot to show that the damage was prior to me picking it upKEVIN G.
He tried to fix the pickup locations mistake, straighten out the wrong numbers but was not able to correct the billing. He told me to contact my credit card company to stop the wrong charges. If Uhaul operates like this, I will have to switch to a better rental service.Robert S.

did online check in to pick trailer up on website. nothing on website check in said i had to go into facility to fill paperwork out or have anything else done. few hours later pick up place called and asked if we had trailer. when explained to person calling about doing online check and that there was nothing on check in or at location about having to come into facility before leaving. the person that called was not very professional or understanding about situation.Jason N.

My suggestion would be to check the rigs before someone gets in them because there was drugs in the rental I had. Also, the cab smelled like cigarette smoke. Another thing, the online check in didn't work on my phone well and wouldn't allow me to finish the check in process and wouldn't let me add comments on the pictures that were provided. One last thing, a heads up when you arrange a rental online that the check in process is lengthy for people who don't know would be nice. Let people know its best to be able 15min prior or plan to not leave for 15min after you arrive at the pick up location.Jessica D.

I was told by the corporate office I had to pick the truck up 40 miles away when I worked close to we fix it but the staff at we fix it went and picked the truck up at there expence. I'm a single dad and couldn't make arrangement to do that so I appreciate we fix it for doing that.MARK H.
Clean the inside of the truck better. Maybe fix the transmission that's slipping and the steering column that's going as well. I was all over the road because the steering wheel is so loose. Also, the reps from U-Haul that I talked to were all very rude and not friendly in anyway. If U-Haul wasn't the cheapest for moving trucks I wouldn't use it again due to the rudeness I received from all the reps. Also, I never received a phone call to confirm my appointment. They just confirmed it without speaking to me. Not very happy with U-Haul this time. Never had an issue before either.andrew C.
