I was told to go to pick up at a location that wasn’t open yet

CHAD CAlthough the truck was clean and ready for pick up at the time set, the requested dollies were out of stock and was not provided. Needless to say that this issue was a major hassle that cost us hundreds of dollars of additional expenses since we had to pay for 4 extra hours for the movers. The staff was very professional and it felt like the issue was out of their control.
SHAY NThe only criticism I have is that their phone system isn't working properly. I tried on two consecutive days to reach someone to check on availability of a certain size of truck and it just rang and rang and then finally went to voicemail. I left messages both days which went unreturned. I brought it up to the employee handling rentals and he said they were having issues with their system. That happens, but I didn't pick up any sense of urgency about getting it fixed. Other than that, everything was clean and in good shape and the transaction went smoothly.
JOHN CI dropped off after hours and got a follow up call the following morning. Very convenient and efficient.
MARIE AI do NOT recommend this location at all (I'd give it 0 of 5 Stars) - stay away! There was no customer parking, and in an area that already has very limited parking, made it difficult to even do business here. I attempted to park in there very open parking but got yelled at inappropriately. Then I witnessed an employee slam a large U-Haul 26-foot truck into the back of a customer that had just rented a moving van. I witnessed the customer's head slam forward and back in a whiplash fashion. The employee backed the truck back from the van, and NEVER checked on the customer. The customer came out of the van and told the employee that he has just been rear ended and the employee said it was "fine" - never once checking on the customers well-being!! Once I struggled with the staff to find out where I need to return and park the truck I rented, then got yelled at for not backing it in! I asked for a receipt and the employee (Antonio) got verbally forceful in demanding the keys. I was able to take a pic of the mileage and we ensured the back was clean. This location was absolutely horrible - STAY AWAY!!
JOHN JWhen I arrived the places looked like it was closed. They had cones in the entry to avoid anyone from getting in.
ESMERALDA CThis location is amazing. I don't think there's much you can do to improve! Employees are always, friendly, courteous, professional efficient just lovely to work with! I have a very small car and have had to pick up furniture here and there for my new place, and they have saved me! More than once!

BERNARD BReturning the van was a nightmare. A NO Uhaul staff were present, there was no room on the lot to park the van, and a sign was posted that said to not to block sidewalks or illegally park, or could face potential fines or even a towing by local authorities. If this happened, i would be responsible. This Uhaul location needs to provide more space on the lot to return leased trucks or vans.

DANIEL CNot only was the truck that I needed neither was the trailer. Instead I had to get a 20' truck vs a 15' and figure out how to get my motorcycle into the truck. Plus I had to go to 3 locations to get a dolly and furniture dolly. It was never clarified that this reservation was not going to guarantee what I reserved and I only found out there was going to be a change the day before the move. And when support was going to help (Donald) he reserved the wrong dolly for me at a location and when I went to go find the dolly I had to take my car b/c my daughter isn't old enough to ride in the cab. It took me hours to handle what should have taken minutes. Very disappointed with this entire experience.

EDOHO GDisorganized, unprofessional, and rude staff. I would not recommend this location for a rental. When trying to dispute the condition of the front bumper during pickup, I tried uploading a picture as part of the checkout process but the site was not working, and the staff just walked away. Please go to a different location for your rentals.
SEAN JThe place was packed and dangerous to drop off the trailer due to limited space to park . The agent wanted me to back into traffic to make it easier on him to get the trailer. I told him it was too dangerous and technically illegal to do.

LYLE PThis is a very difficult location, no parking and not convenient. It is old and definitely in need of a better presentation. Only 2 people working on Labor Day weekend when they are busy.
Murray AI was not given the dolly that I paid for and was told they were simply out of them but they weren't out of taking my money! The customer service is subpar at best and the facility is rundown. They offered me a "phone number" when I asked why there's an option for a dolly when they don't have any.

ERIC YEnsure there is enough parking for those returning vehicles. The parking situation was a mess, I was unsure where to park the vehicle I was returning since the lot was blocked off by other vehicles being parked incorrectly.
MICHELLE LLots of trucks at this location. The dirt lot is a bit unsightly. A paved lot would be nicer. Service was no problem.

ZACHARY LMake the 24-7 app easier and provide the service for all the vehicles. I rented a van and they can't be rented via the app. Make sure the app applies to all locations. This one didn't have any combo box like in the U-Haul video. Other than that, the 3 days I needed the van saved me. Very grateful for the affordable prices and variety of vehicles.
WILLIAM MThe drop off sight in San Diego was one of the worst customer experience I've ever had in any industry. The two people working first of all didn't even look like they worked there. I pulled the U-Haul on the road and it being a one way trip had a few questions. Some guy walking around just walked up and grabbed the keys and said he would email me an invoice. I asked if I could be part of the process he said "sure" I proceeded to walk inside where three people were waiting around and one guy in the corner not saying anything to literally anyone. I walked back out side to see what the first "worker" was doing he explained the price on his phone while sitting in the driver seat. As soon as he was done he slams the door almost hits me in the shoulder and just sits in there. Awful experience, just for context this is the first review I've written on any establishment in 10+ years.

ARON DThey charged me 34 dollars for gas which I filled to the point where they gave me. I have pictures of that as well. Also they charged me a 25 dollar cleaning fee for a small pice of plastic I forgot in the uhaul. Also they charged me for 2 extra miles I also took pictures of the miles when I got the truck and when I dropped it. So they can't deny any of it. What a rip off of people in need.

JOY MThe service was great. However, the tire on the trailer I took off the lot was badly deformed and worn and could have easily blown out my 500 mile road trip. I only noticed it when I got to my storage unit. Thankfully customer service and roadside assistance had me very covered. They came to my house and replaced both tire on the trailer. All else was great.
KILEY AHaving my mother follow me after retrieving the 9' Cargo Van I reserved via Uhaul app turned out to be beneficial considering the rental was without the driver side break light & it's blinker didn't work when signaling left I called the location as soon as I arrived to my destination & left a voice message indicating the mishaps with the lights. Although I never did hear back from anyone I did manage operating their van just fine & do recommend the company as well as this location. I'm not renting from Uhaul to flaunt lol so the company served it's purpose just fine & I will continue to rent from this company for all my moving/packing/storage needs ☺️

Antonio OOriginally reserved a truck from the location at 4427 Genesee in San Diego. Traveled from Phoenix by plane and then Uber from my hotel the next morning to pick up the truck. When I arrived for my 8:00 am pickup, I checked in on the app and was informed I needed to call U-Haul. When I called, I was told this location did not leave the keys and was not open until noon.i am not clear in how I was able to set up a pickup for 8:00 am when the location is not open until noon?? The person on the phone was very nice and set up a rental at another location, which meant I had to call another Uber. When I arrived at that location, it was busy, but once someone was able to help me I explained the situation. They looked up my reservation and informed me that they could not find it and that it had not been assigned, and much is strange since o had an email directing me to that location. After a get moments, I was told I would have to travel to a third location to get a truck. After some conversation, they agreed to set me up as a walk-in and rent me a truck. This whole experience with the app was not good at all. The people who helped me were great, but the entire experience left me wondering what had happened that U-Haul is so dysfunctional? I've rented countless times and can't recall a single issue, but this was nuts. I can understand a small mistake here or there, but this was a series of errors that looked like amateur hour. Glad I was finally able to get on the road. The guys at my return location were also great… the people work well, but the app not so much.
christan dI checked in ahead of time, uploading my drivers license and completing payment via the uHaul app. I did this to save time. When I arrived to pickup my keys, none of the information had saved or was in the system. I had to go through the entire check-in (AGAIN) while standing at the counter in the heat. I waited in line 15 which was well after my pickup time. This was incredibly frustrating. The uHaul app SUCKS.
