Renting the truck was great. The gentleman â€œMoâ€ was great. We had agreed I would return the truck on 7/2/22 at 2:00 PM, but we overlooked that the return time on the contract was 10:00 AM. On 7/2/22, At 10:28 AM, I received a telephone call from a very nasty and rude person from the following number +1 (845) 242-0216. The gentleman demanded I bring the truck over immediately and kept berating me about not being responsible. I explained to this gentleman the agreement I thought Mo and I had agreed to. The gentleman didn't seem to care about what I was saying and continued to be very nasty. Having to deal with this man's rudeness was a very unpleasant experience. I believe he mentioned something about being a manager with your agency. If this is the case not sure how he got to that position with the way he spoke to me.cesar E.

The customer service was fine - quick and professional, and the van was in very good shape. HOWEVER I am entirely unhappy with UHaul. The advertised price for the van was $19.99. I only rented it for FOUR HOURS, without insurance, and ended up being charged over $140!!!? This is an outrageous price for such a short rental. It is also a complete bait and switch. Based on this experience I will not be using UHaul again any time soon.Patrick T.

From the start at pickup the key was not in the correct box. Wasted 1 hour to realize truck key was in the back of the truck. No hand truck or pads as requested. Truck had less then a quarter tank so I had to fuel up wasting more timeDaniel V.
The checkin process didn't work while using Chrome on my phone. The "location" functionality did not work as expected. It was only after reviewing the "help" page did I realize the app was only developed/tested on Safari. I switched to Safari and it worked. As a software engineer specializing in UI development, I would call that user experience lame.Christopher M.
They charged me almost a hundred in gas , I brought it back early , I live down the block , and moved 50 feet over , gas , plus a service fee , when I put 10 bucks in , it was below empty when I got itPatricia H.

The tires were bald, there were summer tires on a huge truck in the winter. We couldn't back out of the driveway, we were stuck. We also slid around the entire ride. Tire maintenance needs to be prioritized.JENNIFERJILL M.

The 15ft truck that I had reserved was not available due to the previous customer returning late. The U-Haul representative at the site worked to find us a replacement. Eventually we decided on a 10ft and that was able to handle the apartment move, with a little help from two SUV's. How can you ensure that the reserved truck is available at the pick up site? The pickup procedure was very confusing and poorly organized. It was not communicated that we needed to do a mobile check-in to access the truck. We first attempted a regular pickup, then when we found the site without any employees, we canceled the reservation and rebooked with a mobile check-in. The trucks were not located on the Beacon Car Wash lot but rather in the corner of the parking lot across the street. Instructions to obtain the car keys were not written in full sentences. There were car key lock boxes at the Beacon Car Wash but the car keys were confusingly located in the back of the trucks themselves. The locks on the lockboxes and the trucks were similarly labeled, which exacerbated the confusion. Our attempts to communicate with UHaul support were disastrous. The agent "helping" me called my secondary contact but hung up after 5 seconds. The agent never called me, despite having my number. The app was spotty and would not properly refresh. Lastly, the drop-off procedures didn't indicate what to do with the car keys after the rental. I left the car keys in the lockbox.Zachary E.

It's not easy to locate the desk where the U Haul operation is run out of. There are no signs. The truck was beyond old. Around 150 000 miles old. The strain on the engine was audible.PATRICK M.

Location was closed upon arrival. Had to strangely go to a grocery store across the street to speak with customer service to pick-up van. Also technology is a mess. Takes forever to book online and then the ridiculous follow-up call to actually book is insane. Then ended up having to pick-up at a location 20 minutes from where I selected.ANTHONYMICHAEL L.

Truck was not in a easy spot to get to meaning very tight to get out of another truck was behind mines not even a uhaul one.Also this location did not have any hand trucks which I had requested which made me late for my appointment. Upon pick up and throughout rental a warning bell is activated and the message â€œright rear door is openâ€â€"this is accompanied by a sound like the locks unlocking and locking again â€"I tried repeatedly to close the rear doors and lock themâ€"they appeared to be secureâ€"but the warning bell and the sound of the door locks opening closing continued.Mick F.

I couldn't pick up van on time because your web site for self pick-up not working properly. I had to wait over 30 minutes from the original pic-up time to get the key from U-haul rep. What's the point of early p/u if it is not working. On dash was message that right back door are not close properly and dome light on the front and in the back was on the whole time. The car has only lil over 5000 miles on it......Pavel T.

This is the second time that it has taken an hour to check in with U-haul in the past 3 months. The last time, I had to drive 20 minutes away to rent the van I had confirmed to pick up closer, at my own expense for the extra mileage. This time, the app closed out my reservation before I was able to even finish checking in. I was charged twice for the reservation, just so I could leave after an hour. This issue is still somehow open as well. I also had to wait an hour to checkout, as the Uhaul app was showing as completed in the vendor's system but not in mine. It says something to a lack of training and quality control here that I have experienced this BOTH times I've chosen to use U-haul. Additionally, I accidentally called the roadside assistance line and was given complete attitude on the phone for calling the wrong number. The last time I was on the line with a representative while having to drive 20 minutes away, I was also talked to with an attitude. I will never be using U-haul again, and plan on placing a claim for both occurrences with the BBB.Madison S.
