I asked about renting a pickup to move furniture from a furniture store right next door to my home in Clemmons. I was told I could not rent a pickup at this location and return at another. I asked about a cargo van and was told the same applied. I was told I could rent the 10ft box truck and return at a different location. I returned the truck to the Shattalon location in Winston Salem. I attempted to check it in using the U-Haul app and received an error message. The Shattalon location was closed so I just put the key in the box. I recieved my final receipt was was charged $290 for returning at the wrong location, a fuel charge stating the truck was returned with 3/4 tank when I have a picture of the fuel gauge showing the truck was on fuel, and a mileage charge stating I drove 120 miles which is not possible. Goggle maps puts my trip at 57 miles. I have rented with u-haul several times in the past and have never had such a troubling experience. I have called customer service, and the representative I spoke with was the only redeemable part of this experience. I am waiting for follow up on the erroneous charges.

After our trip, she made the Return just as well as the Picking up. Definitely use this location in the Winston Salem area for your Rental needs.

She provided so much information, and answered all my questions thereby easing my anxieties about moving for the first time. She is the best! I am going to recommend U-Haul highly to all my friends. Edward OThe return location was closed on this particular Saturday. I picked it because they were close and convenient and I could return to an open location during business hours listed. I had to return a truck loaded with equipment I had rented (blankets, appliance dolly, furniture dolly) and didn't feel comfortable dropping off a truck with equipment loaded in it that was not secured. the Truck was parked in an open parking lot with no way to back it up against a wall or building to protect equipment inside. The cab of the truck was left lock naturally and truck key deposited into the 24 hour secured box at location. A phone call was made to to U-Haul to make sure they understood I was dropping off to the non-attended location and well within the allotted return time. I was told it was recorded and equipment was fine to be in unsecured cargo bay of truck. Might be a fine location, Monday - Friday; but I didn't feel comfortable leaving this situation in an open parking lot without personal seeing my returning of equipment. Normally they were open on Saturday. On this survey I originally checked 'Not Applicable' for "Were the personnel helpful?" but would not take my review. There were no personnel available for me to rate; so I went back and checked 'No'.
Dennis PIf you can't honor the partially fulfilled reservation refund of $50, then remove it from your model. I reserved an appliance dolly with my truck and did not receive it, nor was I compensated. I had to move a refrigerator, stove, washer, and dryer without it.

Andrea wLydonia Is the best! The mobile pick up was not working for me, and uhaul customer service was taking forever. She had me in a truck and on the road in no time. She turned a very stressful situation into a good experience for me. No one wants to have moving help at their house and have uhaul tell them they don't have a truck! Dorian HOur pickup location for the 20 ft 24/7 truck was changed so we went to second location. So after we missed our 7am pickup we went to second location where there.was no 20 ft truck either, in fact there was no 24/7 vehicles. We called the 24 hour number and we're directed to go to a 3rd location, where there was only a 26'truck. So then my geo location would not work On the website and I could not get the key. So I called the helpline again and was instructed to download & get on the app to make two location to work. So I did, we were instructed to open box #1 to get the key and we did but unfortunately it was not the key for the right truck. So I called the helpline back for the 3rd time and was instructed to open box#2 and we found the right key. All of these delays made us miss meeting our labor guys we had hired thru U-Haul by an hour and a half. We get to the loading location and they jumped right on it. Unfortunately because of the delays in picking up the truck we went over on time by almost 2 hours the 3 hour reservation we had paid for the laborers. I called the U-Haul helpline again and explained the situation and was transferred to the moving help line. After I explained the situation to moving help and was told to call U-Haul back because I am asking U-Haul to pay the laborers for the 2 hours they went over time due to the pickup delays caused by U-Haul. Now on the my 5th call to the helpline I got to tell the entire story again amd was instructed to file a Customer Action report which I did. I have not heard anything back but was told 3-7 days. I did not pay the laborers for the extra two hours mostly because I couldn't afford it but the delay was caused by U-Haul. The laborers stuck it out and finished the job and would not let my husband woth his prosthetic leg help at all. They went over and above and I want them to be compensated. Please have someone call me and let me know when the guys will be laid this overtime. Please call my wife Elizabeth at 8066791154.
Aaron LWe were re-directed to this location at the last minute because of equipment availability and then charged for the additional mileage associated with needing to travel farther to get the equipment. This seems a bit exploitive.

Kenneth RThe people at this location are very nice and helpful. The equipment they are ask to rent out by u-haul is in bad shape and not well maintained. The truck that I was put in looked as if it had been in a war…cracks all over the windshield..passenger side of truck smashed in with damage (x) stickers all over the truck..it was embarrassing to drive.. I have always had good experiences with u-haul trucks until now. The other problem was that the truck sounded and drove/ran like the transmission and engine was going to fail or break down at any moment. The interior of the truck had a strong grease smell and the truck was extremely loud and I could barely hear the radio. I've been driving trucks for almost 30 years…this is my worst experience.

RODNEY LTheir hours of operation are variable. They operate several enterprises out of the location. Renting UHauls is not their priority.
