I used the vehicle only for 21 km, it was a sunday and the gas station was not selling gasoline. Since there is only one gas station on the route, I could not fill gas. I was charged 10 $for gas unnecessarily. This completely upset my budgeting for the vehicle and the task that I had planned. I am a student and such charges are wrong. Overall a very poor customer service experience from Uhaul. The only reason I gave higher stars is because the UBC location store owner Al saved my day by helping me get the truck earlier. He literally saved our move. Lesson learned is talk to the Uhaul customer service ASAP, to get the order particulars figured out. The online order is just a cosmetic system, it does not reserve or setup your vehicle. The next customer needs to be aware of a few things that I was not: - The order that you make online is just a request, even if it goes through, it does not mean you have the truck you ordered available. - Call Uhaul customer service to secure your truck ASAP, I only received a call 2 days before my move and there were no trucks of the desired size available so I got downgraded to a smaller vehicle. If the size matters to you, do not hesitate to get it set up. - Uhaul website does not care about the fact that the store I ordered the truck at, and the drop off location did not work together. You need to talk to the customer service to get this information, so call ASAP to learn if your order can be fulfilled as you made it online. - The system is not intelligent enough and even the people at the store you're picking it up have no idea of the order arrangement. You need to call the customer service. It's the worst online order experience I've had for a while, so be aware. Be it not for the store owner who helped me get the vehicle on time, we'd not be moved. :(Pavol C.
The location is convenient for UBC residents. However, there is no key drop-off for after hours returns. This was not communicated to us. We ordered furniture pads but did not receive, yet we got charged for it.Gavin T.

Pickup went smoothly and it was not a big deal, but the lady who tried to check me back in was awful. U-Haul customer service was garbage. Didn't pick up phone when I couldn't return the truck Website is also trash, wouldn't let me do anything. Took over 30 attempts in over 2 days to book the truck, and it wouldn't let me check in, or even return the van. I had to wake up at 6am the next day to return the van before the next rental period started. Very bad experience, but the location and person running the location was alrightZelei D.

Van was fine mechanically but dirty inside and out. That surprised me. The interior of the cargo area was well equipped with side boards and floor mounted tie downs. That was good. I didn't need any accessories (dolly, blankets, etc.) The staff were efficient and helpful but could have been more engaging. The location was convenient and I would use it again, based on convenience.Joseph M.

I showed up to pickup a 15' truck that I had reserved 3 days before. When I showed up I was told it was rented to someone else already and all they had was a cargo van. I had to wait 25 minutes and then a girl returned a 10' van by coincidence. The woman in dollar n plus threw me the keys and told me to take that one because I could be waiting hours for the other van if at all. It was not sanitized and was not even inspected. When I got it I realized it would barely get all the stuff from my 2 bedroom place. This was by far the worst service I've ever received. When we returned it she barked at us about whether we had parked it in the same spot and was on her personal cell phone half the time when I was talking to her. On top of that, uhaul is trying to charge me for 100miles of travel when we went 120 km. I am pregnant and had to stress over this entire day. We weren't even able to get all of our stuff moved and lost our elevator reservation in our building to move due to having to wait at this place for 45 minutes. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!!Stephanie F.

The location was fine. It was the online booking it kept charging me for things I didn't want. I selected a furniture dolly & it automatically added a regular dolly too. Then when I had to change location (which wasn't a problem, this location was better) the employee on the phone removed the normal dolly & added moving blankets. I didn't ask Or select moving blankets. A 75 $rental for just over an hour to move 2 pieces of furniture is steep. I paid "guy with truck" 100 $in the fall & I didn't have the same hassle. The overall experience with THIS location is EXCELLENT! Al, the representative was kind, accommodating, informative, and very helpful. He helped me fix the overcharge by U Haui, but not by what SHOULD have been charged, as he could not completely fix the problem I have only one small problem with the renting experience. With no contact, there was a text sent to my partners phone, but her phone was not available for the moving day, as it was accidentally misplaced. We therefore MISSED the checkin process. When we returned the truck, we replaced the amount of fuel that was in the truck when we picked it up. But U Haul tried to seriously SCAM us by saying that it was a full tank of gas, and tried to make me pay,. Also, because this is a US truck it was charging me for excessive mileage in MILES, not kilometers! Riduculous. My rating for Dollar n Plus is 10/10. My rating for U Haul as a company is 5/10. Bad U Haul. You need to fix your system.Laura J.

the online process was not good. i was unable to upload my photo of starting mileage and hence had to call uhaul. i have also not seen the charge go through although there is a deposit that has. it has not been refunded yet. so all a bit unfinished at this stage. and that was 2 days ago.Mary S.

The pre-rental fuel tank capacity shown in the receipt is much higher than what I saw when I picked up the van. I added gas to the van but was still charged for fuel usage quite a bit. I only noticed that problem after I saw the emailed receipt. I even have a photo of the fuel tank level when I picked up the van.Jingda W.

We really appreciate receiving the 24 hour rental rate and reduced kilometre charge for the cargo van, given the distance we needed to drive to and from the Fraser Valley in order to complete our move. Very good service. Won't hesitate to recommend and use Uhaul again. Let customers know about your longer distance rates! I had to search for them and discovered them by accident.Melanie T.

I was guaranteed a rental at 8 pm. The store I was picking it up from was supposed to be open until 9pm. When I arrived they had closed early. I was on hold with the main number for 15 minutes outside in the cold when a man texted me from a local number saying that the person who had it last was running late and would be there in 25 minutes. When the person arrived it was just after 10 pm. Terrible. The man I was speaking with kept saying that sometimes this happens but I suppose there's no reason to even try to return a vehicle on time if you can just say I was running late. I had called the day before to confirm my reservation and the equipment I had ordered. on Saturday morning none of the equipment I ordered (dollys, furniture pads, etc) was in the truck. The owner of the dollar store where I got the truck had no clue what I was talking about when I asked about the equipment I had ordered. He ended up giving me his store's dolly, which is inappropriate as then he was without his own equipment for the day. Overall not a great experience.Bonita P.
When I received the vehicle the right front tire was at half pressure. The right rear upper running light was broken and dangling from the vehicle. Approximately 40 kilometers into the drive the "check engine" light came on and stayed on. Thankfully the vehicle did not break down. The fuel gauge indicated 1/8 tank. I had an air compressor and so was able to pump up the low tire. Just glad to have made it back, would not use this service again. In my experience with other U-Haul rentals the vehicles were clean and maintained. Really poor!James P.
The only good part of this experience was the gentleman at the pick up location. Everything with uhaul was terrible. I did not receive the pick up location I requested or the truck I requested. When I called for assistance there was a general lack of caring. The entire experience felt like a scam - a bait and switch. I reserved something at one location and then was provided something entirely different at a another location. Next time I will look elsewhere. I will also not ever recommend Uhaul to anyone and if they ask will let them know my experience. Not to be rude, but this entire business model is complete and utter BS. I have rented from uHaul in the past and my experience was good. This experience was terrible.Matthew L.
