I got to the location to pick up the trailer, the clerk at the store asked for my name and checked me in, he also signed the rental agreement for me and proceed to tell me that the trailer was outside and to hook up and go, I had no assistance from the store to hook up the trailer, I am glad I frequently tow trailers and know how to properly hook up, if I did not know I would had put my self and others at risk due to a improperly hooked trailer, while hooking up the trailer I notice that the trailer was missing a piece of wire to connect the trailer lights to my vehicle, I proceeded to go back inside and ask the clerk to provide the cable to I can safely tow the trailer, I was told by the clerk that he did not have one and I needed to go to another haul location to get the cable, I told him that it was unsafe and against the law and pretty sure against haul policies to not have working lights on the trailer, he then told me to figure it out my self as he has nothing to do with that. I had to tow the trailer to the closest hardware store and by the cable my self to properly and lawfully tow the trailer. I had rented multiple trailers from haul and never had and issue but this time was very dussaponting to see how this company allows this kind of thing to happen. Tha store should not be allow to be a haul dealer. Never renting from this location again.Victor O.

One guy running the entire BUSY convenience store, hardware store, and gas station by himself and had to phone someone for instructions on getting the contract processed. Should not be a rental uhaul store because of a lack of employees to handle the uhaul rentals. I had to load the trailer up to the vehicle myself, with no trained supervision. Clerk didn't know how to put in the Coupon Code I was given for returning boxes from a prior move. Clerk was more concerned with checking out his convenient store customers buying beer, cigarettes, and red bulls than helping me. I felt like I was treated like I was bothering him. The truck was dirty inside. I had to get a broom from the store owner to sweep it out. The cab was filthy. I used Lysol wipes but the dirt and grime was heavily caked on like it hadn't been cleaned in a year. The interior roof was peeling down covering part of the windshield. The passenger seatbelt did not work. I usually rent trailers from this location. This is a convenience store with only one attendant who cannot leave the register to come outside to assist with anything. When I use the online check-in, they still require all info at the register as if I hadn't signed up already online. The did not have any dollies. I would never rent a truck from this location again. I've used U-haul for over forty years. This is the worst. This truck should be overhauled!!Joseph F.
Agent did not know what she was doing, I ordered truck on line she was unable to locate my order. Truck smelled light cigar, windshield was not clean. Location did not have appliance dolly or moving pads that I ordered.Theodore B.
Couldn't get any paperwork from them. Had to call Uhaul to get the paperwork emailed to me after I returned the trailer. This meant that I had to leave, not only the trailer behind, but all of my credit card information, with absolutely no knowledge of whether I had been charged the correct amount. A VERY BAD BUSINESS MODEL! In addition, they refused to help me unhitch the trailer upon its return. It was a 6Ã-12 trailer. I'm 75 years old. I had to Jack up the trailer on a very uneven surface to lift it from my hitch. The proprietor found that amusing. A horrible experience!EVERETTE H.
Rental was a disaster from outset. Drove to pick up point about 20 miles from requested point. Had reserved a 20 ft. Truck but they had only 26 ft. Available. (Higher cost in fuel). Had contracted for 36 pads. They had none available. Had to drive around South Birmingham to find pads after National directed me to point that also had NO PADS. (More fuel and mileage on truck. Opened truck finally at loading point and it had a mud covered ramp and truck interior was covered in dirt. Had to clean it before loading. Overall it was a mess that I had to deal with. Truck was dirty Wee swept half a bucket 5 gal out of the bov, Cab had empty drink bottles in it. NO HAND TRUCKS Which l was supposed to pick up.. Had to Buy plus a broom to sweep it out. 80,00 $ plus out of pocket. Where l picked ip I had to wait 30 plus min as the clerk kept taking care of people that came in after l did counted 11 people. Getting the girl who was working a little more training would probably make her life a little easier. She did good, but she's apparently new, and struggled a lit bit with it all. But, it went very fast and very easy, even with that. I have no complaint. Easy to get into and find, easy to get hooked up to my trailer.Richard H.

Good service at this location, they helped hook up the trailer. Overall though, I wasn't happy that my pickup location was changed from Tuscaloosa to Bessemer AL. This was a 1,5 hour round trip just to pick up the trailer.Byron K.

the staff at this location (convenient store) may or may not be on site to use the UHaul computing system therefore they are not able to check in/out the equipment. I personally contacted the area manager and shared my experience & let him know i would not recommend nor would i return to this location for future business with UHaultony P.

I requested and was told they had appliance dollies by a Uhaul rep, but that was not the case. We were moving appliances so that would have helped. It's best to indicate properly what equipment a location does or does not have.Kristopher W.
When I arrived to pick up the trailer, the person working did not know how to process U-haul paperwork. He had to call someone and wait for them to call back. Resulted in an extra 20-30 minutes of wait time. Have someone on duty who knows the check in and pick up process!Stephen M.

When I arrived the associate working at Farr Hardware did not know anything about the uhaul program. The auto transport trailer I was assigned had a broken taillight. I went back in the store to let the associate know, he had to call the manager who told me â€œdon't tow at night thenâ€ I asked for another trailer they eventually said ok. But the paperwork was never updated to the new trailer ID number. Very disappointed.Ross M.
The normal staff was not there when I arrived in the evening hours (around 8PM) so I met with guys from the attached store. Those guys acted VERY inconvenienced at the thought that I would bother them to return the truck and just turn in the key. I told them I could just leave the key in the box and that seemed to be an even bigger issue. The facility was in a very shady area that made my wife extremely nervous as she was coming to pick me up. Just not a place I would send a friend to, nor do I plan to use it again.Arthur R.

My pickup location was changed without my knowledge or consent. When I contacted customer service the night before the man simply said that I had been called and offered no other help. I had not. And when we arrived at this location the dolly we had ordered wasn't available, we then had to spend more time and money finding a dolly for our move. We rented a trailer and our plug on our lights was round and your trailers are square, we had to ride with no lights because yall don't have an adapter. I think you ought to offer an adapter so it's legal when we leave the lot. Other than that, Thanks the price is right and convenient.Electa J.

Waited for half an hour without agent showing, ended up getting upcharged because I had to essentially cancel my order and start a new one. The only reason this was not a 1 star experience is that the clerk at Farr's gas station was eventually able to process it. I will not be using this location again, and since this was probably an agent that has multiple locations, I will not be using U-Haul in that area again.Jonathan R.

They did not check truck or give me a receipt. Had to call uhaul and transfer to regional mgt and rec. an email receipt. Also reported that the reason the truck was not addressed properly was because the uhaul attendant was off for New Years Eve.dENNISE O.

Was extremely disrespectful. Said he would not inspect the equipment until an hour later. So when I got my phone so I could get proof where he couldn't inspect it he told me take the trailer. And get the f*ck off his property. Had all this on camera told U-Haul and all they said is that they would make a note of it. They should not let him be a supplier for U-Haul. This review has nothing to do with Farr Hardware as a company. They were helpful and attentive. My issue is with having to drive 30 minutes to Bessemer to pick up this truck when there is a major UHAUL store in Pelham, 12 minutes away. The Bessemer location guaranteed that I would go over on miles although it was not significant. The truck was clean and in great operating condition. I loved the the mobile app and how easy it was to drop off the truck in Troy. UHAL has a lot of good things going.David M.

Cab was dirty and smelled of smoke. Rear still had a box and other items in it. Had not been swept out. Rice spilled on the floor. I pointed this out to the clerk. He put the box a On the ground and returned to his store.Lawrence M.
We did have an issue with the lights not working, but it may have been a wiring problem with our car. I'm not sure. My husband took it to another location and the guy re-wired everything. It worked great the rest of the trip. :-) When I called and booked, everyone was VERY helpful, professional, warm, and friendly. Great customer service experience. We actually needed it a few days longer than the system allows you to book, so they put me through to someone who could help me extend the time. But a few days before we were supposed to return it, I got an email from â€œequipment recoveryâ€ saying that our U-Haul was not returned on time. I'm guessing that for some reason, our extension didn't prevent the automated system from flagging it as unreturned. When I called the number on the email, the guy was super nice and he took care of it, as well as adding an additional day that we needed. We didn't use it for moving, but to pull behind our little SUV for a family camping trip. It was just what we needed and the price was right! The biggest thing I would say, is that the customer service was a perfect ten. So hats off to whoever hires and trains your employees! I hope your promote within the company, because the people we dealt with certainly deserve to be rewarded for going above and beyond. We're happy campers! Kimbrenton M.
