Very difficult time returning vehicle after hours. App would not work, tried for 20 minutes. Website worked, finally. Returning without using app, disappointing.

The guys were absolutely pleasant to deal with, however, the inconvenience and losing an hour from the use of the rental, was not up to satisfaction …. And that being said. Not exactly pleased whatsoever with that aspect !!!!!

JESSICA CMy 1 star rating is not a reflection of this location at Interstate All Battery Center in Kalamazoo Michigan. In fact, the Interstate All Battery Center is a great location with friendly staff willing to help as best they can. But they work with what they got - and U-Haul handicaps their ability to provide an excellent experience. I see 5-6 areas for improvement. The first is adding electric vehicle chargers to the locations. Any vehicle that tows will experience range loss. The only weakness EV's have is the lack of infrastructure. Being able to add a few kWh either on pickup or drop off would help eliminate range anxiety when towing. It would be great if the charger was even free for UHaul customers for the first 30 minutes. It doesn't have to be a fast charger to make a difference. The second is replacing the computer/point of sale systems used by staff to access UHaul services. After starting the checkout process in the store, it took roughly 10 minutes to get everything completed. The majority of the delay was due to the web browsing/checkout experience on the staff members point of sale system. The page was not responding at times (browser prompting him and saying the page has become unresponsive). Another time the progress bar at the top of the screen crawled for what seemed like almost 2 minutes. It was agonizing. We thought that it might fail at that point, so he began trying to figure out how to do this on a mobile device; but before he could complete that, it went to the next page. The third area for improvement is lighter trailers. There weren't many trailers available and we ended up with the 6x12 with ramp. This trailer weighed over 2000lbs, which is just crazy heavy for such a basic trailer. It is built like a tank. Because of the heavy trailer, we had to make multiple trips to pickup our load because of tow limits. The fourth area for improvement is the checkout experience during initial reservation and pickup. U-Haul, for whatever reason, tries to almost scam its customers by prompting them to try and buy additional unrelated services during checkout. It is confusing and unnecessary. While completing checkout on the mobile app, my wife handed me the phone and said she didn't know why it was asking all these questions for unrelated services and thought she had done something wrong. Hilariously enough; during pick-up, many of these same questions were presented to the U-Haul employee. A fifth area of improvement is the mobile application. When we returned the trailer; my wife had to completely close out of the mobile app 3-4 times. The mobile app was not very responsive and the process was excruciatingly slow. Lastly; we booked this reservation using the mobile application. When the wife selected the location and equipment, she was confident that she did not book equipment that was not available at the location. She never acknowledged that the equipment is not available, and would like to proceed anyways. On the morning before pickup, we received a call from U-Haul stating that the equipment was not available at the location and would need to pick a different location.
Ryan PThe gas gauge on the van is inaccurate unless you turn over the the engine. I wasn't told this in advance and so overfilled the tank and lost $5--not a happy camper.

MIKAIL QYour app could use improvement especially when dropping off after hours. The price was a little higher than expected! But overall the staff was helpful and truck was sturdy

charlie sI want to start with saying that I absolutely love this location and the staff there. Today was quite the fluke incident, when the employee came outside to start up the truck and verify the mileage the truck was pretty loud, didn't think much of it as the employee had to hear the same thing. Well after driving for a couple of miles I noticed the exhaust noise wouldn't quiet down, upon further inspection it would appear that someone had stolen the catalytic converter from the truck. Due to the weather and needing to get items moved I toughed it out, bad idea on my behalf as I currently still have a headache from the 100+ decibels of American freedom roaring out of the exhaust manifold just under the cab of the truck. Upon return I informed the staff at U-Haul of this issue and they were very apologetic of the scenario but noted that they couldn't do anything about discounting the rental but in the future if this is an issue at time of rental to let them know. Word to the wise, if the truck is abnormally loud bring it to the attention of uhauls employees.
Cody SThe equipment reservation clearly stated an appliance dolly, and insurance was included. After dispatch, I saw that the insurance had been removed, and no appliance dolly was included. The dropoff location was also changed from the reservation to one further away and in a terrible neighborhood. Apparently, the pickup agent took it upon himself to completely scrap my reservation and go through the process from scratch. I couldn't add insurance after I discovered it, and had to make arrangements to get to the alternate drop-off location. Additionally, the truck interior clearly had not been cleaned. Cupholder was full of chips and empty cans on the floor.

Jeff CI have rented from this location a few times now and there are always issues with the computer system which causes delayed check in and returns. The staff is always friendly but complain about the computer system.
