HAD ME RENTED A DEFECTIVE TRUCK, BROKE DOWN ON ME AFTER WE LOADED UP MY FURNITURES AND BELONGINGS. WAITED FOR SEVERAL HOURS FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, LOST $200 FOR MOVERS SERVICE EVEN THOUGH THE JOB WAS NOT COMPLETE, DID NOT GET COMPENSATED FROM U-HAUL, I END UP ASKING A FAVOR FROM A FAMILY FRIEND TO HELP ME GET UNLOAD MY STUFF OUT OF THE TRUCK, AFTER THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN AGAIN HAD TO CALL THE ROAD ASSIST THAT HAD HELPED ME, TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO PUT ANOTHER TICKET FOR SERVICE TO BE PROVIDED, DID NOT WANT TO WAIT AGAIN FOR HOURS ESPECIALLY IT WAS GETTING LATE AND DARK, WAS INSTRUCTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM MYSELF (HAD TO GO UNDER THE TRUCK AND FIX THE PROBLEM WHILE OBSTRUCTING TRAFFIC FROM WHERE I WAS STRANDED) BARELY MADE IT TO THE U-HAUL STORE TO RETURN THE TRUCK AFTER HOURS. the truck was dirty inside and out. i had to clean the inside myself before driving and the rags were black with dirt when finished. the vehicle itself had a driver's door that did not close properly so the loud noise of the freeway came through the entire time. i mentioned all of this when i returned the vehicle and got no real response.tim C.

Changed my pick up time and location without notice. Charged me extra for going over the milage even though i put in the two addresses when i booked and the gas station was literally on the corner along the way to the drop off. There were no detours or anything. Took the shortest route. Also, they said the gas was at 3/4 full at pick up but it was less than 5/8ths. Horrible service. I arrived to pick up my rental van and he had it park already out front and also, since it was so hot outside, I appreciate that he had turned the air on to cool the van before I got there, so when I got in it was not all hot and stuffy. I don't expect uhaul trucks to be clean on the outside. I rent alot, and all are pretty dirty with dirt and bugs. The inside is always very clean. (The question wasn't specific to the inside or outside, just being honest. )Tami P.

The back of the truck had poop in it. Brown splats all over the walls and it smelled so bad. We have pictures. We had to clean it out ourselves. We couldn't get another truck because we hired moving people and it would have wasted so much of our time to drive back and try and get a different one. If they didn't look or clean this truck, why would another truck be any better. They gave us some couch covers to put on the ground over where the poop was. Even after scrubbing the ground it still smelled like the truck had been full of animals. Also, in the cab of the truck there were clothes behind the seats that did not belong to us. In the door handles, there was trash that we had not put there. It was more than clear that the truck had absolutely not been checked or cleaned at all before being given to us. Completely ridiculous especially considering current COVID regulations.Karen C.

I've rented many U-Haul vehicles over the years and this was the first time renting at this location. This was the best experience ever had. I picked up my truck fast returned it quickly no drama or waiting. the two employees were great and it was a smooth experienceFrank R.
We arrived before closing time, 5pm, and no one was there and the office was locked up. That being said, we used the online app to return our rental truck, took photos as requested, and used the key drop off box there. It was pretty quick and we were happy to be able to return the truck so close to where we had helped move a friend.Barbara D.

Wow, where do I begin? U-Haul should now be called "U-Bite, We Switch". I have used U-Haul for many years, but probably not in the future. First, I booked a 15-foot truck almost a month in advance, to be picked up in Santa Clarita and dropped off in San Francisco. A few days before before the pickup, U-Haul calls to say "if you want a 15-footer you will need to pick it up in Palmdale". That is over 35 miles away from Santa Clarita. While I understood from the reservation the pickup location was not guaranteed, the worst I expected was a different location a few miles away at another location in Santa Clarita, not more than 35 miles away. Because I was on a tight schedule the day of the pickup and could not get to Palmdale, I had to change my reservation to 10-foot truck to keep the pickup location in Santa Clarita. And for those of you who don't know, the big difference is that while a 15-foot truck has a ramp, the 10-foot trucks don't. So now I had to load a truck without a ramp (that sucked, U-haul). To ensure they didn't try to screw me more with any more changes, I went ahead and pre-paid online a few days before the pickup date. What else could go wrong, I figured. However, when I went to pick up the truck in Santa Clarita, first they first informed me they didn't have enough blankets for me (I had pre-ordered those). So I had to go find more blankets elsewhere. OK, not the end of the world, but still inconvenient. Moreover (and more importantly) they changed my drop off location from SF to Daly City (while the reservation makes it clear the pickup location can be changed, it doesn't make it clear at all that the drop off location can be changed at the last minute too). The problem was Daly City was also much further away from my destination and required me to (once again) re-adjust my schedule and plans. And, of course, when I raised my concerns with the pickup location (i.e., "can't you change it back to the original drop off location?", etc.), all I received was a lot of "attitude" from the assistant manager (she needs to "talk less and listen more"). There was a young man working there too - he was polite and trying to help change the location back to what I originally had scheduled, but he was pretty inexperienced so he could not be that helpful. The only positive was the truck didn't break down. Frankly, I would be willing to pay a little extra money to have some certainty on my pickup and drop locations, but apparently U-haul's model is now to say anything to get someone to bite and make the reservation, overbook, and then shuffle and switch everyone around to make it work. Hence, their new name - "U-Bite, We-Switch".Douglas G.

I rented the truck from one location, they were out of what I wanted so my reservation was moved to another. I didn't get contacted about the location change. When interacting with the staff I was made to feel like I was bothering them, and I was the only one there. I will be going to Enterprise from now on. Tony and Alex were on it. The communication was great. The process to rent, pickup and drop off was fast and efficient unlike other U-Haul locations. Originally I was worried that a truck might not even be available due to the number of people leaving the state of California and not returning. I was very surprised to see the truck at the time of pick up. Not only was it in fantastic shape it was brand new with only 88 miles.
