Wow, where do I begin? U-Haul should now be called "U-Bite, We Switch". I have used U-Haul for many years, but probably not in the future. First, I booked a 15-foot truck almost a month in advance, to be picked up in Santa Clarita and dropped off in San Francisco. A few days before before the pickup, U-Haul calls to say "if you want a 15-footer you will need to pick it up in Palmdale". That is over 35 miles away from Santa Clarita. While I understood from the reservation the pickup location was not guaranteed, the worst I expected was a different location a few miles away at another location in Santa Clarita, not more than 35 miles away. Because I was on a tight schedule the day of the pickup and could not get to Palmdale, I had to change my reservation to 10-foot truck to keep the pickup location in Santa Clarita. And for those of you who don't know, the big difference is that while a 15-foot truck has a ramp, the 10-foot trucks don't. So now I had to load a truck without a ramp (that sucked, U-haul). To ensure they didn't try to screw me more with any more changes, I went ahead and pre-paid online a few days before the pickup date. What else could go wrong, I figured. However, when I went to pick up the truck in Santa Clarita, first they first informed me they didn't have enough blankets for me (I had pre-ordered those). So I had to go find more blankets elsewhere. OK, not the end of the world, but still inconvenient. Moreover (and more importantly) they changed my drop off location from SF to Daly City (while the reservation makes it clear the pickup location can be changed, it doesn't make it clear at all that the drop off location can be changed at the last minute too). The problem was Daly City was also much further away from my destination and required me to (once again) re-adjust my schedule and plans. And, of course, when I raised my concerns with the pickup location (i.e., "can't you change it back to the original drop off location?", etc.), all I received was a lot of "attitude" from the assistant manager (she needs to "talk less and listen more"). There was a young man working there too - he was polite and trying to help change the location back to what I originally had scheduled, but he was pretty inexperienced so he could not be that helpful. The only positive was the truck didn't break down. Frankly, I would be willing to pay a little extra money to have some certainty on my pickup and drop locations, but apparently U-haul's model is now to say anything to get someone to bite and make the reservation, overbook, and then shuffle and switch everyone around to make it work. Hence, their new name - "U-Bite, We-Switch".Douglas G.

I rented the truck from one location, they were out of what I wanted so my reservation was moved to another. I didn't get contacted about the location change. When interacting with the staff I was made to feel like I was bothering them, and I was the only one there. I will be going to Enterprise from now on. Tony and Alex were on it. The communication was great. The process to rent, pickup and drop off was fast and efficient unlike other U-Haul locations.
