The rental vehicle was as expected, however it could have used snow/winter tires on the van. The van was stuck on a less than 5% grade multiple times. Twice at pick-up and twice more during rental.

Inconvenient to execute agreement at one location and picking up the vehicle across town. Tried calling the phone number soon after getting the reservation to confirm and voicemail was full. Alternate method of replying to email address did not work either, got an error code 404.

The main office in Albany are nothing but assholes. Clueless dip fucks who cannot read a GPS. Stop changing my reservations, stop the harassing phone calls. The guys in Lake Placid are amazing!!!!! The main office is a waste of flesh. I even saved the voicemail from Jesse (female). If I have to work with her again, I will take our account somewhere else. She could learn a ton by working with Lake Placid and seeing how customer service should be done. Please get rid of that idiot.

The U-Haul website should let renters know in advance that the location to pick up the key is several miles from where the vehicles are located so that renters can allot enough time to complete the transaction. This is not the fault of the location.

The drop off spot I was given has NO PROVISIONS for vehicle drop off. The store front was also a retail candle shop that was closed, even though I was there during business hours. The number on the door to call always went to busy (as in off the hook). I called the next day and had to hold for 15 minutes before the call was picked up. I had the West Coast rep tell me he had to call the East Coast rep (on hold again). The East Coast rep then sent me to the Regional office in Albany. The girl I spoke to there was wonderful and straightened all out. TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION.

This is NOT the drop off location and UHaul really should make that known on their website for people who do not know the area. I had to find the actual drop off location by using my brother's smart phone and going to the UHaul website for the Lake Placid location and reading a reviewer's comment. Google maps does not show the drop off site nor does a GPS. We went to the provided address first because duh. This is a storefront where you can rent a UHaul if they're open, or drop keys in the box, but it's not where they want the truck parked - there is no parking in front of this store. They were closed when we arrived. The store should have a sign telling people the drop off address. We looked it up like I said, but it shouldn't be that difficult for a customer; it should be clear and obvious. At the actual drop off location there is no office, no person to interact with, just a key drop box with instructions telling you to go to the UHaul app. The app instructions were minimal. I had no way of knowing if UHaul knew the day and time I left the truck, no confirmation number. A week later, I got a bill for an extra day charge. I used the truck for 1 day (allowed 2). WHY?? Isn't moving stressful enough? Please iron out some of these kinks for future customers' sanity.

Had to pick up the truck in another city because of a return issue. I got charged the miles to get it to the city I originally needed it in. Truck was a mess in the back. Had to find something to get the snow off the truck as well.

Correct website notice of location for vehicle drop off after hours. The Parkside St address is in downtown Lake Placid and is a business office only and closed in the evening. The drop off location is actually at Military Road.

What can you do to improve for the next customer...you can start by not calculating the wrong mileage driven by the renter causing a false charge more than three times the amount that was estimated based on projected travel distances. Then you could actually make an honest and genuine attempt to fix YOUR mistake by having COURTEOUS employees man your customer service phone line. You can also change your corporate policy that allows separate customer service employees to actually see records of previous phone calls, you can actually accept information that supports a customer's contest of charges instead of slimily worming your way out of taking any responsibility for your mistake. I rented a moving truck from you and having submitted the estimated total mileage I expected to drive it, I should have paid about $80 with the base fee plus $14 insurance and 38 miles of travel. Lo, a few days after the rental I checked my bank account and saw a charge for $292. I called U-Haul to inquire about it. I waited on the line for 20 minutes without once hearing a human voice, not even an automated message that I was on the right line. Then I was hung up on. Then I called back a non-customer service line and someone finally told me I had driven not 38 miles but 285 miles according to their records. I filed a request to contest the charge and was told very specifically that I would be called back with the results. I didn't hear anything after a week, so I called customer service again. I was informed that the internal inquiry had yielded results that supported the original charge for 285 miles. This is just flat out wrong. I took a photo of my starting mileage. It was 19,700.2 miles when I first turned it on. U-Haul customer service employees told me the vehicle I had driven had 15,000-something miles at the start then 15,000+285 miles. I have OFFERED to send this photo and have been told they do not want to look at it. U-Haul has STOLEN my money, lied to me, and has done nothing to show me that it cares it made a mistake and wants to fix it. At this point in time, almost a month after the initial rental having made ZERO PROGRESS getting my money back and feeling as if I will not get my money back, I am committed to NEVER USING U-HAUL AGAIN FOR ANY REASON, AND TELLING EVERYONE I KNOW THAT IF THEY CHOOSE TO RENT FROM U-HAUL, THEY SHOULD BE PREPARED TO GET OVERCHARGED AND RECEIVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE when they try to get their money back.

The truck I reserved was not at the location as expected. The nearest location was 44 miles away. The van that was available check engine light was on the whole time and the driver side front tire was nearly flat and had to be filled. There was no odometer reading on the paperwork so I have no idea how many miles I am being charged for. The tank was not full therefore it was hard to determine how much gas to replace. I was shocked at the lack of service for a company that has been in business as long as Uhaul. I really feel like I deserve a full refund.

The place was dirty and unorganized. I spent forty five minutes getting the truck and they had no straps they recommended I buy some rope. When the paper work was complete they told me they would bring out the hand cart and blankets I told them the cart would not fit in my car they then told me they would bring it to me where the truck was parked, several miles away. I will never go back there!
