Rude condescending woman at front desk. And the confirmation bullshit where she had to call somebody I know to verify me??? What the heck? Nobody answers strange phone numbers and I have a wallet full of Government issues ID. Seriously WTF!! Your price however was excellent!

When we first asked how much to rent a vehicle from Vancouver island to Richmond we were quoted possibly $1500. Depending on demand at that time. Then I went online and reserved there and was under $400. The brakes on the truck should have been adjusted. Had to depress very hard to get them working.

Lady at the counter said i needed to buy additional insurance from icbc she was rude and would not explain these unexpected charges. She put me on the phone with a manger who said i needed to buy insurance from icbc because Uhaul doesn't put plates on dollies i said i have never heard of this before and at one poimt the managersaid i could take it or leave it when i was trying to figure out what this additional insurance is. I called the uhaul 1800# while hooking up my trailer and they said i did not need onsurance. I called a local branch of a well known insuranve broker and they said i do not meed additional insurance. My trailer lights were not working and i was troubleshooting them when the lady from the counter came out said they were closing, gave me a photocopied paper with permission to buy insurance for uhaul equipment. It had a persons name and phone number hand written on it, no address or company name, i called the number and got voicemail. i figure this is some kind of insurance scam and they are getting a kickback from this insurance company so i did not pursue it. Counterperson left me in parking lot with no brake or turn signals, that turned out to be a bad 7wire round to 4 wire flat adapter, i bought a new one at Canadian tire. I have been renting uhauls for over 25 years this was by far the weirdest experience i have had with a uhaul dealer.

Truck was dirty, there was glass everywhere. With Covid these trucks should atleast have a thorough cleaning between rentals but the cab was really dirty

After reserving a 15ft Van, I received confirmation that it may be "subject to availability" . This caused me some concern so I called Lakeland and they informed me that no vans were available on the day I booked, but I may receive notification from U-Haul that a vehicle may be available down the island. This led to stress on my part, trying to figure out alternative plans. Fortunately I was eventually offered a larger 26ft Van.

I do not believe this truck had been cleaned. The cab had coffee around the dash and dirt on the floor. How do I know that it was disinfected for covid. I am disappointed.

Perhaps have the right equipment in the same town as the customer - it was difficult to arrange for pick up. Also, truck was almost completely blocked in when I went to pick it up after paying for it etc. May have been another customer returning one but was difficult to get the truck out of the parking spot.

I traveled a total distance of 7 miles and was charged $45 for fuel. The fuel gauge on these trucks is inexact and they should only be rented out full, like most rental cars. Out full, return full... simple.

The lady that was at the desk when I picked up the truck was super friendly and answered all of my questions. The lady that was at the desk when I returned it wasn't very happy about where I had parked and I'm pretty sure she was already having a bad day. Would have been cool to have gotten the 25$ for sweeping the unit but I didn't want to upset her anymore so I didn't push the subject.

The return check in was an adventure, that was much simpler than it had to be. It would have been helpfull to have gone over the procedures for check in vs trial and error. There are to many ways to check in but only one way worked for me.

Extremely poor customer service. Obvious Damage to exterior of truck in their pictures not noted. Odometer reading incorrect. Truck leaking oil all over my driveway. Truck running extremely rough. Using heavy amounts of fuel. BAck of truck not cleaned...wasn't even checked...there was a dolly in back.. I rented one but returned 2. Cab of truck covered in mud and dog hair. No attempt to clean in Pandemic, attitude from counter staff, not told to bring supplies to clean . Truck from original location not available last minute, blankets ordered not available.

Headlights on this truck are not aligned. Driver's side seems ok but the passenger side is turned in and down, perhaps dangerously so.

Nothing customer service has always been excellent at Lakeland and always choose this dealer because of it. My only complaint would be that there is 1 location in courtenay that seems to hold all of the truck inventory and the service there is horrible. Something needs to be done with that dealer Lakeland always my first choice!!!

Trailer was absolutely caked with grease on the inside. I had to throw pillows out. Clean my couch that was caked in grease.

Roll up door was finicky and wanted to bind in track. I was afraid a couple times it might not open. Inside of door was filthy. Inside of trailer had a strange odour which tended to permeate anything you put in it. Clerk is always very friendly and prompt. She is a pleasure to deal with.

The Duncan site closed before I received my deposit refund. The saanich location messed up the date by a month, gave me a 20' truck told me I would still pay only $300 then charged me $575. Theysis not give me the address in Campbell River nor could they direct me when I arrived. Walmart staff gave me directions to lakeland, instead of 20km south of CR. As it was I was under mileage plus gas was right on the mark and I caught the last ferry to Cortes island. When I had cell service I called for a refund. I was told I left it dirty, over mileage and under gas I paid for someone using it for free. $575 instead of $300 and I received $68. Now Duncan is closed and I would like my refund. Was told in Victoria to call the u-haul number when reaching Campbell River to find the location and drop off instructions. It was impossible to get in contact with on December 1st 2019. Customer service phone line had me on hold for almost an hour. At one point I was transferred to someone in Alberta who had no way of directing me to the drop off location or procedure in Campbell River and put me back on hold. If it wasn't for a google search and a note in the window of the building to drop the key through the door I would have had no way of returning the unit in time. You could improve the situation with a little bit of organization and proper customer service representation.

The trailer was really old. We could at times hardly open the door. The outside of the trailer was dirty, inside was ok. There are rivets missing in some places on the body of the trailer.

The business was closed when we dropped the truck off, so we put the keys through the door into a drop box. 3 days after the drop off time, we received an email saying the drop off place was somewhere completely different from what had been arranged. Not please with U Haul's lack of organization, has nothing to do with the contract locations for pick up and drop off.

We were a bit late coming to get our uhaul and the location repeatedly called us and were not pleasant when we arrived. When we got the truck, it was absolutely filthy and not cleaned out (some items still in the truck). Maybe instead of harassing us to get there on time, the employees could have been cleaning out the truck for us. I provided my credit card when I booked the equipment so I don't see what the panic was for us to pick it up (we were less than an hour late). I also booked it online for 8 hours and was only given a 5 hour rental time upon pick up. The price ended up being the same as if I had booked it for 24 hours. I have rented from this location before and didn't have this problem then.

Should be open on weekends. I had to pick up the van Monday morning at 9 and drive to Nanaimo ,catch a ferry to Vancouver... load the van catch a ferry and drive all the way back to Campbell River and unload until 3 in the morning all to have the van back by 9 that morning. At least if I had the van overnight I could have left for Nanaimo around 5 or 6 or earlier and been back at a decent time.

All locations should be keeping up on the functionality of indicator lights on the trailers. It is unfortunate that many locations are not doing so.

Trailer had 4 bald tires. I don't feel the representative should be taking pictures of my drivers license with her cell phone. I didn't feel that my information was being treated with security and respect. Although agent was very polite and speedy, there was no assistance whatsoever with hooking up or looking at damage on the trailer. Uhaul has chosen to put that onus on the customer, giving them a link to text pictures to that doesn't work. The price didn't go down but the service surely did.
