I have filed a formal complaint about the entire experience. From being rented a U-Haul with a 1/4 tank of gas to the unit running horribly, the check engine light came on the 2nd day early on so I dropped the vehicle off and had to organize my own personal friends vehicles to help me with the 2nd half of the move. If I am not compensated for this disaster I will never use U-haul again in my life or recommend it. What a crap experience!WES M.
The truck made a loud buzzing sound, which sounded like a wheel bearing. We were also overcharged for the fuel. I drove 26 miles (40 kms) and put 10 litres into the fuel tank, but was charged an additional 9 litres. That's approximately one litre per 2 kms which is obviously wrong. i would like the fuel charge reversed.Paul F.

I confirmed my rental by phone wiht UHaul three times. I booked one month in advance, with my final confirmation 24 hours before pick up. When I arrived and used the app, I was prompted that the location did not do 24/7 pick up, despite three confirmations by phone. The vehicle I had come to pick up had been extended a day on line by the previous renter, so was not even available. I walked on to my ferry reservation without a vehicle. I had to have someone pick me up in Victoria and get me to a UHaul location there. I then had to pay more than double as I was now doing a 'one way' trip despite this not being my plan originally. This was an absolutely brutal rental experience that had so many people jumping in on both sides of the ferry to help us with drop offs and pick ups. We were moving my son out of university and could not delay a day. Very sad for how this all went down. The 24/7 pick up absolutely did not work. And the 'check engine' light was on the entire time. I need to stop now, trying to move on from this.Britt B.

Booking a truck on-line was not efficient. Calling in provided us with a local truck, instead of booking a local truck on-line, and being told the next day, no trucks are available.Jean Z.

Downsized to a truck with no ramp. Took 3 trips until 4am. All the gas stations were closed to top up gas. No furniture pads either. The $50 compensation did not come close to covering my file for all the trouble. This location is good. The guys are nice and it's not their fault the previous person did not return truck to same location. Very unfortunate how my move became a nightmare. Had to buy furniture pads which added up quickly. Having no ramp made the reserved dolly useless.Kelly G.

This was a total confusing process that took 45 minutes to check in and 30 minutes to check out. Your online system is extremely poor. It was very difficult. I would simply not bother with Uhaul in the future.Lyne P.

We drove 68 miles and bought $20 of gas. When we returned the truck we got billed another $18,74 for gas. Almost $40 to drive 68 miles seems crazy to me. We had frost on the windows so it would be nice if they provided a scrapper. We had to use a restaurant napkin. It would also be nice if they provided a lock. We had to run around at the last minute to figure out how to secure our possessions.STUART N.

Unfortunately tank not full when driving away. After driving moderately 40 km myself I fuelled up and 19(!) liters were needed. So I reckon approx 12 liter missing from the start. I do not blame the location, it has been the previous renters cheating.Hendrik V.
I wasn't aware one-way rental pickup locations were determined the day of pickup. I became aware of it the morning of and was told the website did show that info, so my point is I STILL wasn't aware. Wherever that info is, I didn't read and understand it, I work in tech and I'm not an idiot. Uhaul, get your UX team to figure out a better way of communicating this rather critical info, it upended my move and made it an absolute panic. 0 stars. Suggestion: movers should be encouraged to 'pick up their uhaul the day before you need it, as this process might take several hours'. Also, my uhaul didn't come with the blankets & trolley I'd paid for, and the pickup location had no info or suggestion to help me. A far more haphazard rental process than even my worst-case expectations. Customers should also realise that pickup locations do uhaul as a side gig, the guys at low-cost equipment were doing fine at their regular jobs but pretty poorly at uhaul.Adam T.

Make people aware of the leakage from the roof. Read the Very Fine Print...If the weather is poor maybe offer tarp rentals to cover and protect furniture ETC. Overall the truck itself performed well in the very poor weather conditions. Luckily my son is an excellent driver. The cost for a long haul move was better than I expected. If you can't supply a tarp rental then maybe inform the customer verbally of the leakage in rainy wet weather..They can get their own. I would have got my own to cover furniture had I known the leakage was that bad..Thank YouVICTORIA C.

Not person who helped me fault but the other staff were late so the shop was not open in time for my rental so it me 45min to an hour back. Was suppose to have the rental for 9 am, did not get the keys till 9:45am. But the time I got to truck and did the inspection it was 10amSAMUEL W.

U-Haul as a whole company is not a company I would use again. When an issue occurs or you have a question no one can handle it. I have spoken with 4 different people about the issues that I was having on the day of my rental and I'm still waiting to hear back from someone else. Also I did not feel safe about the pick up of my key location when your there after hours. You have to go behind the building on a dirt path, with no lights and there is just bush/shrubs/trees along the other side. The 24/7 truck pick up absolutely was the worst experience. We couldn't even get into the vehicle for 30mins. We had to use a reference, which meant we had to wake up one of our references early in the morning. On top of it all, we didn't get any furniture pads, I had mentioned this 3 of the 4 times I spoke to someone, yet I still got charged for them twice! I now have to wait for a rep to speak with me, and I really doubt I'm getting that money back. Another note, not one person I spoke with greeted us in a friendly matter. It sounded like everyone hated there job especially the person who worked at low cost. Just absolutely the worst experience on an already stressful day.Alison P.
