After hours Drop off was very easy and accommodating.
Troy MWas supposed to pickup in Ames, but changed to Boone. Was no issue, easy pickup and truck worked great.

Brad DBrian was not very friendly. Made me unhook the car hauler and seemed annoyed when asked how to remove the tire straps.did not say anything, just walked away, then charged me a 25 cleaning fee. I called and asked why and he said he checked me in with no charges. He said he would call me back, but never did. I called him back and he said he didn't know how the cleaning fee got there and he would call me the next day. I then did a live chat and was refunded immediately. It appears the person on live chat called and took care of. Brian called me back after the chat and said I was refunded.

Brad BThe location was easy to find and had ample room for parking. We returned our truck using the self service procedure. This went fairly smoothly, particularly compared to the ordeal we went through to puck up our truck at a different location two days earlier.
Nathan PI dropped off the truck on the third day and the man that handles the uhaul department wasn't there. It wasn't entered into the system until the next day and I got a late charge. He told me it was because I hadn't brought it back the morning of the third day. I thought I could bring it back on the third day as advertised. I left a cash deposit when I picked up the truck, and now I'm being mailed a check for 60$ instead of 100$. I'm not happy with the ending of my experience, but I'm also not going to make a big deal out of it.

Richard SThe guy took care of me right away and got me on my way. He was great. The negative comment I have is why I had to take this trailer to Boone, Iowa in the first place. My move was to Ames, Iowa approx. 12 miles away from the drop off. There are a bunch of UHaul locations in Ames.

THEIFS is what they are,, I got charged to go Pick up and drop off the truck becuase U-HAUL didnt have the truck at my LOCAtion, Then they short changed the Number of Miles between My Original Pickup and Drop Off Destination, End up charging 10 % More... NEVER NEVER NEVER will I ever use U-Haul again... NOT Like you would Ever use u-Haul

Cheryl DI chose this place due to the location of conveniences. I turned in the truck on the 20 at 4:30 ish to have it check in. I was told by the man at the desk that the man would be back in a little bit to check it in. I received an email on the 21 with a check in time after 9 the next morning, 16 hours later! If I had turned the truck in on the 21 at 2, my concern would of been that I would of been charged for another day.

Deborah AI reserved a van in ames iowa with moble pick up !!! The employee didn't leave the key for suforced to take it because I had no ride out of there and then when I go to return the fucking thing it wants a photo in order to return it. Fucking ames place is a joke and boone is a rip off.

janice sThe previous renter must have driven the truck off road through mud because the truck was covered underneath with clumps of mud. The floor of the drivers compartment was covered with dried mud. The gentleman at the dealer swept it out for me, but complained that the guys who delivered the truck did not do their job of cleaning it up. Also, they did not have enough of the blankets I ordered.
Michael SThe normal staff was out sick. The replacement person did not know what he was doing or where the supplies were. I did not get everything I paid for and was told the charges for the items would be removed from my bill. They weren't.
Rod CTrailer wasn't ready when we came in for our appt. time and a taillight was out. We had to drive to another town, 20 miles away to get it fixed.
James RThe online reservation was used to schedule a 10 foot truck with pickup in Ames Iowa. The reservation was made 2 months in advance of the pickup date. Two days before the pickup date, I was notified that Ames did not have an available truck in that size. I was given the choice of a 26 foot truck or driving to the store in Boone Iowa to rent a truck. I chose making the 30 mile round trip drive to get the 10 foot truck. The people at the Boone store were very helpful and told me that the Ames store frequently sends them business due to a lack of trucks in Ames. I understand that lots of trucks were being rented in Ames due to it being a college graduation weekend, but I also expect that a confirmed reservation should have been honored by the company. What's the point of having the online system if the company doesn't honor the reservation?
Joel JMobile check in took almost an hour and was very frustrating. Some of this should be able to be verified ahead of time.

Cheryl CThey did not have enough blankets on hand to fill my order. Which resulted in movers needing to utilize our personal blankets, which increased our cost since they are too large for our washing machine.

Beth CPhone based checkin is an awful experience on my iPhone; I abandoned it for at the counter checkin.
Nicholas CI had reserved a trailer at the Waukee location then was told they were out and had to drive to Boone to pick up a trailer. Wasn't to pleased about it but I did receive a credit for the inconvenience.
Brent CThis is not directed at this location, but uhaul as a whole. If you have to make someone drive 50 miles to a pick up after confirming a different location add the mikes and pay for the gas as well.

Emmett AThe store manager was not very friendly but he wasn't outright rude either (average). Main concern was the state of the truck that was given to me. It had 0 % oil life left (oil has not been changed according to schedule). Low oil level light came on almost right away which required me to stop at a gas station to fill up oil. The oil levels could have been checked before the truck was rented to me. In addition, the biggest issue was that I originally rented a Ubox in Ames IA. I made arrangements to come and pick it up along with a pickup truck and traiker for self delivery. Two days before my rental date I get a call from Uhaul scheduling and they told me that I have to drive for 1hr to a different town to pick up a ubox, and then drive it back. This required me to change plans and rent a truck last minute. I won't be using Uhaul any more and will rent from other companies moving forward.
