The location should not be a uhaul drop off location. Poorly staffed, unable to leave the location to look at the truck or confirm fuel or mileage at drop off. Unfriendly and annoyed that we were dropping off. Unit was not checked in until 2 months after we dropped off. Had to hold for 40 min to find out why charged addiitonal 30 $Cathleen V.

I had ll reserved a 26 foot truck via telephone. At 8pm the night before pick-up I received a telephone call saying no trucks at were available until Monday at any San Diego locations. Your customer service representative told me to try one of your competitors. After some anxiety, as you can see, I was able to go online and reserve this truck a few miles away for the next morning. I've always had good experience with U-Haul. I hope this was an exception. Merci.WILLIAM D.

I was told I could do mobile check in at 8am since the location did not open till 10am. I tried to get my truck but could not use the app or website to check in. It took my payment and drivers licenses, but did not let me get the unlock code for the truck. I had to wait around till the store opened to get my truck. Delayed me by 2 hours and I was on a tight deadline to move out of my place. Also I wanted to start early since it was 100 degrees that day and wanted to be done before the heat of the day. This was not a great customer experience.ANTHONY S.
My one complaint is that none of my â€œextrasâ€ that I ordered were in the truck. I requested a furniture dolly, utility dolly and furniture pads. I did speak to customer service after a brief hold and they assured me they would make a note and refund the amount of those rentals. Unfortunately, it delayed my trip by nearly an hour because I had to go to Home Depot to purchase a furniture dolly. The good comment about the trip was the vehicle drove very well and maintained decent gas mileage. It also had plenty of storage, was clean and a comfortable cabin space.Erik H.

I reserved a 20 foot U-Haul and this location did not have one, then I asked to give me one to replace it at least a 15 footer and they didn't have that because they had them reserved they did not accommodate my needs and honor what I had booked I didn't even receive a discountHaydee B.

Everything was clean, but I got a flat tire on the car healer within 45 miles of leaving on a1600 mile trip. Also a couple of the tires on the rear axle if the truck were really bald. I understand why, but not having cruise control on such a long journey is very annoying.Joel P.

Maintenance was lacking! 2 tires HAD to be replaced before we could even leave the parking facility. Pick up was for 8 am and it was after noon before the truck was ready. The other same size truck on lot was offered to us and it had an oil leak that should have kept it off the road. Hopefully other folks will be safe on road. Third rental was not a charm like our previous two this year.Sheryl N.

I picked up at 3:51 pm and because I asked about after hours drop off they put a return time of 9:00 pm. I had to call into get it changed to 3:45 pm drop off the following day. I dropped off at 3:00 pm and they tried to charge me for 2 daysMichael B.

I arrived 45 minutes early ahead of store opening to use the uhaul app to download some code to get truck. The App hung up and would not allow me to continue with the verification process. I have an android phone, the whole process was a disaster. Will never do that again. So I wasted 45 minutes waiting for the store to open. Thankfully the clerk Ruby was excellent at getting me checked in and on my way. Your app is terrible, would not let me resubmit the driver license photo. I would appreciate some kind of credit for my wasted time. Also the truck was parked under trees and the windows and windshield were extremely dirty. Make sure the truck is usable in the first place. Multiple mechanical problems with the truck in the first place and during the trip to the point that it was dangerous to drive. Only one headlight worked. Dashboard back light did not work to the point that I can not tell the speed i am going. Lastly I sent in a customer review on Tuesday 2nd July with order number without responses. How is this business run with such incompetency? Overall very disappointed with Uhaul and the service they have provided.Patrick T.
The reservation location kept getting moved farther from where I needed to go with the truck. It cost a lot more money on mileage. My fault I suppose for not demanding a closer location. The local franchisees are always good, but I have had several bad experiences with the national reservation people, including getting billed an extra 600 $once without warning for changing a drop off locations to be 10 miles closer. If that sounds unbelievable, I thought so too, but it is true. I just rented from Penske for my actual move from California to Texas and they beat U-haul's price by 25 % and the service was fantastic, including changing dates three times without any change in charges.Tina S.

My first call I was told there was no need to make a reservation, to just show up at the store when they opened at 0900. When I got there, the first thing I was asked was what my reservation was under... Other than that. We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Great location, wonderful friendly staff. Our pick up site was changed to a location that did not open for two hours later than we had reserved and that cost us valuable time and money to accomplish the move. We had no other opportunity at such a late notification. Would definitely not recommend this kind od 'service'!Daniel B.

Whilst the truck was well maintained , the parking brake was on the verge of needing maintenance , when the foot pedal was depressed it would go all the way to the floor before grabbing. This WILL need attention soon.Brian E.

If I have to bring back the vehicle with fuel, then the least that could be done is keeping the windshield clean. Interior was fine, outside needed a wash, but the windshield was filthy. :/ I cleaned it myself both inside and out, took less than 10 minutes. So I'm not really sure why that can't be done before renting out to clients......Shannon I.
Clerk should give more details of drop off location. He said it was 1,5 mile from where I was going and it turned out to be 15 miles from me. There were several more closer but I couldn't get thru to customer service to alter drop off contract. On Hold for over 23 minutes. I hung up. Terrible customer service hotline.Angela K.

The location was different than what I initially picked however, they called to verify the the location and pick up time/equipment. Overall it was a pleasant experience minus the fact that the location we had was slightly difficult to find as it was part of a postal annex and not easily identified as a Uhaul. When I rented the Uhaul truck I was given a guide to follow with the suggested amount of gas needed to bring it back to what it was originally rented out for. I followed the guide as instructed by John who rented the truck out to me. I upon returning I was down to 1/8th and the contract suggested to put in 23 gallons to bring it back to 15/16 of a tank. ( Print out also said it was a 33 gallon tank. Probably a lie! ) Well, needless to say the contract info was wrong and you got a full tank out of me. But I guess that is the general purpose. I did not feel comfortable renting the truck because I've had gas level issues in the past and again I'm having the same issues. My suggestion is that ALL trucks are rented out with FULL tanks so these issues will be automatically solved! I'm glad I don't have to rent a truck again. I feel like I was taken advantage by a huge company. But again, I believe they print out the wrong info to squeeze anything out of you. And discounts, forget it. Military screw you too. There weren't enough pads to fill the requested order, and there was a homeless man living behind the truck who was practicing his nunchuck skills when I picked up my truck that was a little unsettling. The staff was good about accommodating the fact that they accidentally rented out the truck I ordered though. Overall a good experience but they were just understocked.Chris V.

Had to pick up the truck a day early because we called the Valley Center location and they said they didn't have a 10' truck for a Sunday pick up (we had to drive to Escondido to pick up the truck a day earlier). They told us since we had to get it day earlier then it would be an extra day on the back end (which we got charged for at the Huntington Beach location). Plus we got a 100 miles and we drove from Escondido to Huntington Beach (which is approx 60 to 70 miles but still got charged for overage on miles). I'm so confused by the service and the contradictions.Carol G.

U-Haul should have a "full tank Policy" for your rentals. The rental I had was only 1/4 tank full. This will ensure your company knows when there is an issue with fuel lines before renting.John H.
