There was a U Haul location 3 miles from my home that would have been much more convenient for me to have used. I had requested this location from U Haul but was given the location in Newland instead.

They need more maintenance on their trailers

My issue was I signed up for a truck at one location, then was given a different, out of the way location, because the truck wasn't available at the first location. When I got to the second location, I find it's not available there either. So I end up with a larger, less economical truck that I had to drive more miles with.

The owner was rude... I signed up for online pickup ( hands free) He called me to say I needed to pick the truck up early because he was closing early , when I asked if there was a key box because it was a hands free pickup he said no there was not , I requested 1 dozen moving blankets he informed me he didn't have any , I did not request safe move but he charged me $84 dollars for it anyway. Since he insisted on and early pickup my daughter picked it up because my friend was flying in to drive it , he told her to just sign his name ( she signed her own ) !! So I was over charged $84 dollars I didn't ask for and he was again rude and unprofessional and couldn't provide the requested moving materials !! I have rented many uhauls in the past and never been treated so poorly and or charged for items I didn't not was ( safe move) . I would never deal with this business owner again and because I was over charged for a feature I didn't want I am not sure I will choose Uhaul for my impending move from pod to home . It's sad that I feel I was ripped off and that I don't feel comfortable now using a business I have always used anymore ! I called Uhaul when I saw the extra charge and that there were no moving pads and the girl I spoke with basically said oh well you were not charged for the moving pads and that she couldn't do anything about the over charge for safe move when I asked if there was someone I could speak with that could remove the charge she flat out said no

U haul website directed me to drop off here. Gate to lot was open, but office closed on Saturday. I returned Monday to see if I needed to do any paperwork. Owner was EXTREMELY rude. Griped at me for leaving trailer in the middle of his lot. (I didn't block anyone) On and on. Even though this is the closest location to me, I will not go back there again. He represented U haul in the WORST way possible. I suggest pulling his franchise.

Google maps took me to the wrong location and the lot, when I did finally locate it was not easy to maneuver in. The owner was nice enough but he really didn't care that google maps misdirects people. It would help others if you would let people know to look up the NAME of the location (Scott Rodes Auto Group) instead of using the address.

The checkin was terrible. Sid was shooting the sh!t with a buddy . no business talk. However he left me standing waiting on them to finish their chin wag for over ten minutes. Then he tried to charge me for three days when I scheduled 2 days rental. We took it back within the two day window, but I just got a receipt for 5 days. This guy is a crook and a terrible vendor for you guys. I would yank his franchise asap.

The contact phone # on the door does not match the# on the contract. The person never picked up the phone and I was unable to leave a voicemail. The drop box for the keys is blocked by part of the structure of the building so you can't see the instructions clearly. Someone was at the site as another truck was moved but I had to talk to Uhaul customer service reps; Gilberto, Michael, Cynthia and Alexander to get Todd Hale to check in the vehicle himself so the contract would close out. The vehicle sat on this lot for 2 days un used, which is a loss for Uhaul. I worked for Enterprise Rent a car 25+ years ago and understand how important occupancy rates are and feel bad you did not have the chance to re rent it, besides the multiple phone calls I had to make to get the truck returned. Someone did move another Uhaul truck on the site so someone was there but they did not check my return in? Uhaul needs to remove this site completely!

At first no one was available. I called and got an answering message. I re-entered and called out to see if anyone was there. A person emerged. I asked if I could drop off a trailer. I gave him my paperwork. He pointed to a place between two trailers and told me to drop it there. He went back inside. I backed to the location and unhooked the trailer myself. I had no trouble because of years of experience, but I am 75 years old and assistance would have been better.

No one to assist with trailer. An inexperienced person would not be able to unhook and drop trailer.

I made a reservation in Boone, NC and the day before I was supposed to pick up the truck I was called and told I would have to drive to Newland to get a truck, which is about twice as far from my house. Not sure why you take reservations if you don't have the truck on the day it was rented. I drove to Newland and got the truck, I also has reserved a hand truck and some furniture blankets, but was told when I arrived they didn't have any. I completed all of the rental paperwork and went out and got in the truck, it was full of mud in the back and in the cab. The whole console had coffee spilled all over it. The truck had obviously not been touched after it was dropped off by the previous renter. It was late afternoon, so I took the truck. It drove fine and served my purpose. The next day after I was finished moving, I dropped the truck in Charlotte. I went to check out and was told I owed additional money for extra miles, even though I had to drive twice as far to pick up the truck from where I initially rented it. The gentleman at the location where I dropped the truck was nice and helpful, but I was still charged additional money. U-haul is one of the worst companies I've dealt with in recent memory, completely unorganized and not helpful. I will call Penske next time.

I thought I reached to location within hours but it was closed and no one answered phone. I had to call U-Haul service line to make sure it was okay to drop off the trailer without getting charged (since my contract had another far away location listed).

They were very helpful and nice. They did their best to make up for corporate Uhauls lack of of communication with the truck I originally reserved at another location. Still upset with uhaul corporate but these guys at this location were great.

Inside the truck was dirty and the inner rear tire was flat - the service man who replaced the tire said the valve stem was broken and there was no way they checked the tire pressure before pick up.

After picking up the equipment, it took this location over a month to close out this rental which was returned the same day. I had mulitple U-Haul personnel about if I had returned the equipment. Thank goodness, I took pictures with the time and date of the returned equipment .

The U-Haul I reserved a week in advance was given away to another person. Then, I reserved the only available truck which was 20 ft. and that truck was given to someone else. Then, I had to drive to Newland, NC from Boone to pick up a 26 ft. truck (which was way too big for what I needed) 3 hours before I had to be moved out of my apartment back in Boone. It was very stressful.

This was an absolutely terrible and stressful experience all around, and I'm still paying full price for it. The manager at this location was over 3 hours late and didn't seem to be working with a sense of urgency when he arrived either. The whole situation was awful.

I reserved online, prepaid and even completed the check-in process the same day a week in advance. When I arrived to pick up the trailer, it wasn't there... The woman indicated that she saw the reservation and knew they had let the trailer go earlier and was wondering if I would show up. WHAT IS THE POINT OF MAKING A RESERVATION?!?!?

The address listed will send you on a wild goose chase in Google Maps. If you have T-Mobile service like I do) you have no signal in Newland, so you can't call for directions. I finally got connected to WiFi at McDonalds and did a wifi call for directions. It is very simple to submit a correction to Google for an issue like this.

I was told by staff at my pickup location that all U-Haul locations were open 7 days a week. When I arrived at my drop off location, the place was not open. I called customer service and they said it was okay to leave it there. I also did an online checkout. I was still charged for an after hours late fee. I called customer service once more and was told that my late fee was being disputed. I'd wish there were more clear instructions and better communication between dropping off.
