The process/experience overall was very bad. System is very poorly designed. I reserved a truck which didn't require me to have an account. Simply enter email and phone number to receive a confirmation #. But then when I show up, it says I need to login to my account to start the rental procedure… so I had to sit in my car and wasted a full hour redoing the entire process. The 2 representatives who helped me were very kind and very helpful. The system however, was just awful.

I had difficulty using your online pick up tool. It would not recognize my photo and drivers license even though I had uploaded it with my registration. Your request for more documentation (eg passport) is over the top. Why should I give you all my personal data? I was able to get the problem resolved by spending 30 minutes on the phone with the 800 number. That's way too much time to waste. I also was disappointed in the truck's performance. I picked it up with a full tank, drove 20 miles and when i refilled the tank it took almost 4 gallons! Is the truck that inefficient or was the tank not really full. Next time I rent I will look for other alternatives.

1. the uhaul app didn't work. 2. The day before I could sign in and call customer service. Costumer services was indifferent and dismissive about me not being able to log in. They said it wouldn't matter. But it did. I needed more info than I had on hand and it caused confusion. 3. The truck was not at the address given. 4. Ignition for truck wouldn't turn over unless her jerked the steering wheel several times. 5. Didn't receive furniture pads Just a bad experience overall

Renting this van was THE MOST stressful thing I have ever experience IN A VERY LONG TIME! Years ago I had used the same location (162 Bloomfield Ave, Bloomfield NJ), but had forgotten how HORRIBLE it is. You get there and no-one is at the shop. I waited for a while. Nothing! there is a paper taped to the door to call if no one is there, but both #s had voice mail boxes FULL. The sign said to go to 143 Grove St., but when you get there, that is the address of a convenient store. Felling completely confused looking at my GPS, I walked out of my car and asked inside the store, who didn't (or pretend they didn't) kno nothing about a UHaul office. It took me 10 min to decide to walk around to discover the trucks. It took me another 45 min to be able to do all the stuff via mobile. I know about a thing or two about technology, but even I could barely handle it doing this over a freaking app!. Had to call Customer Svce several times for assistance. I wanted to ask a couple of things about gas, insurance BUT INSTEAD i was there in the middle of an empty lot reading tiny words I could barely made sense of! THIS LOCATION/ UHAUL SHOULD NOT PUT THEIR CUSTOMERS THROUGH THIS. THIS IS THE WORSE SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCE! I HONESTLY DESERVE A REFUND! I got to my appointment very late and that cost me an extra $200! All because if this horrible service!

There was no customer service even though when booking online it says someone will be there at the stores hours. And it's not this locations fault but the organization for uhaul returning service is just very tedious and confusing at times. This location isn't bad but how things were set up.... not great. And i never received the equipment i paid for.

I've read the reviews for this location and its not as bad as people make it seem. First off be prepared. Arrive an hour in advance of your scheduled pickup so you can go through the process of obtaining your vehicle. It's simple and easy.

I arrived to pick up my u-haul and had the same assigned truck number and lock box code as another person arriving for pick up. They took their van and we were left waiting for an hour for someone to help us. this was very inconvenient.

Communication from location was confusing. Self pick up too complicated and time consuming. Vehicle had damage to passenger mirror, which we didn't notice until already on highway. Return instructions conflicted between official U-Haul communications and location texts.

The text to drop off said a different address than what the gentleman on the phone told me. When I get there a note on the door tells me to drop off the keys at the barber shop next to the electronics store. The guys in the shop tell me to call the number listed on the paper instead. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone was nice and told me where to go but I wouldn't have had to call him in the first place if the text I got was correct. So wasted time trying to figure out where to park only to realize I was given the wrong drop off area. Overall the truck was decently maintained. It is very dirty at the driver's side and needs to be cleaned. There's dried dirt visible on the floors. I'm sure you can see it in the photos I took before taking the truck. I hope someone sees this and makes necessary changes so people who do rent from here in the future don't have to deal with this frustration.

The location listed online not the actual location. Trucks are at a separate lot several blocks away. They put a tiny sign in the door inside, impossible to read from outside. The hand truck I needed wasn't loaded. No one at the location could help fix.

The sign in process was pure torture. I had to sign in to the website 3 or 4 times. It kept making me take pictures, and then not uploading them. In all, it took an hour to complete the process of just renting the truck. The woman who I was on the phone with at U-Haul was EXCELLENT. She walked me through the stupid website. If it hadn't been for her, I would have walked away.

I used this location for after hours pickup and the truck was parked in a lot 2 blocks away but no one was there to let us know. We waited around awhile, tried calling the business with no answer then, finally went into the business next door and somehow they knew and directed us. We wasted 30min looking for the truck then 2 hours trying to get the keys. I finally canceled my original reservation and made a new one (luckily there was another free truck) in which we had no problems - just wasted over 2 hours getting it!

Unfortunately this truck had an engine light on and it kept slowing down in the highway and loose it's speed. Kept making very scary noises. We explained this to the person in charge at the location and he mentioned it was due to the gas light but we didn't put gas and that doesn't explain the noise the truck made the entire time. Driving this gave us so much anxiety and made my experience a horrible one. I paid a lot to have a truck that was reliable. Unfortunately very disappointed and feel this truck needs to be fixed before being rented and charging clients for this.

I have no issues with this specific location. However, the uhaul website crashed during my mobile pick up and was placed on hold multiple times for 45+minutes when I called into customer service. It took over AN HOUR to finally unlock the vehicle. Unacceptable and I will never use uhaul again or recommend it to anyone because of this experience.

Not all vehicles in the lot have been checked in to be checked out, and I returned the truck with more gas than I received it and drive the truck for less miles than I reserved it for, it miles reimbursement is something uhaul isn't gonna do, then they shouldn't ask for a guesstimation of miles and need to advertise being exact !!! I recommend anything but uhaul ..!

I got in very late at night but I wanted to drop off the truck. Actual instructions on where to leave the truck were not visible as the parking lot for the truck was NOT the actual location and was 3 blocks away. THIS IS AN EASY FIX. JUST PUT A SIGN ON THE DOOR/WINDOW AFTER HOURS!!!!!

The spot to park the vehicle was tight. It was hard to open the lockbox 4, and when called for assistance, the customer service was bad, with no help! The customer service's only concern is about you parking your car on the street, which was repeated several times, while not helping you with your issues about getting the key. I will NEVER recommend this location to anyone.

The location of the office separate from the lot was confusing. There was barely any signage and the online verification process was glitchy, causing additional confusion in finding the lot with the van. Otherwise the van was clean and once we got there the process was quick.

I would recommend this type of virtual 24/7 share as a last resort compared to an actual store where we speak with the sales person.. The communication that's sent, i'd recommend customers try to get there at least 30 minutes belore. The connection was horrible as a result it took a long time going through the steps to pick up and drop off the van. The drop down menu did not provide a help number to call customer service when we recieved an error message. There were guys standing behind the parked truck which was uncomfortable as I went through the pick up process & inspection.

I was given the vehicle late, 40 minutes late at 640am in the morning. This process was horrible. The location/site owner answered none of my messages AND I asked for a dolly and was charged for it but it wasnt provided in the truck. He tried to get me to not write a bad review and told me it never came in on his end even though it was listed on my charged receipt. I honestly dont understand how this man has permission to rent out the truck.

This was the worst U-Haul experience I have ever had and convinced me to book with other companies in the future. We ordered to 162 Bloomfield Ave. However, the storefront on Bloomfield Ave. is not near any parking lots. We spent over an hour searching for our U-Haul including 30 minutes on hold with U-Haul customer support until they told us the U-Hauls were parked at a completely different location. The storefront left a number to call for help when no employees were present, but that number literally just called the landline inside the store. This whole ordeal set back our moving timeline entirely, including being late for the internet provider to arrive. We will tell everyone we know NOT to book at this location and will book with other moving companies in the future due to the lack of customer support from U-Haul.

Stop having people waiting in the car in the parking lot waiting for you to hand over the keys to them not wearing any kind of ID or shirt saying they work for uhaul. On top of that giving customers a hard time and attitude when they are asked to put keys into drop box and not in the hand of someone completely unidentifiable for people to trust. Poor service. Will go somewhere else next time

For context, I work in media, mobile apps and costumer experience. The user interface is not friendly. Despite completing all the information for registration online prior to pick up, I was required to complete all the info again when picking up the truck … and I had to do it 3 times because the app kept timing out: 1 was an hour late to my appointment and that caused a series of issues for me that evening. Frankly, this is a systemic issue, not a one off and although the location was convenient and getting the vehicle - once the app finally worked - was relatively quick and easy. That said, because this does not appear to be a one off, I dot. Expect to use u haul again due to efficiency of use.

U-Haul and Google have the wrong address. I've rented a U-Haul from here once before and had a terrible time finding it. I was shocked that the address hasn't been fixed yet. Otherwise, great experience and would use again.

You can improve the UHaul.com website. I always had to put my phone # or email and password in at least 4-6 times before it would recognize me as a customer. Very annoying, frustrating, and time wasting.

The van was fine but its location was not 162 Bloomfield Avenue. We fortunately saw another van nearby and those people assisted us. We had tremendous difficulty with your online system, and waited upwards of 20 minutes to be assisted.

The website check in procedure could not have been worse. Several times I was thrown out due to “ our system is down due to planned maintenance” the website would not accept my password. When I called the toll free number I was in hold for over 1/2 hour, I finally gave up. The entire ordeal ended up putting me an hour behind schedule. I will never use UHaul again. The process was torturous.

I scheduled a time in the morning, when I got there my time had changed online, so it was a pain to get the truck. Then since my time changed I couldn't get the furniture pads I ordered. The person working there implied it was my fault that the time changed, even though I confirmed with him on the phone the original time. Nobody was nice.

I had a very poor experience renting a truck. I have heard many great things from friends and family about Uhaul, so I thought that choosing you over other truck rental companies would prove to be simple and seamless. That was the farthest things from the truth. First, your phone pick up process is really very poor. There are many flaws in the process that resulted in it taking an HOUR for us to check the truck out. Every time we entered the verification code that was texted to me, the system would boot us out. Then we had to wait for a representative to call us to confirm our order, and we couldn't hear them (too much static) and their accent was so thick that we had trouble understanding. It was freezing cold out today (33 degrees F) so to wait outside for an hour because the store was closed was unacceptable. There were other customers there who also had issues with the mobile pick up process. As someone who works in digital product management, I highly encourage you to revisit this process and to create a better user experience. On top of all of this, the truck was covered in snow. We did not bring a shovel with us, not realizing that we would have DIG the truck out with our BARE HANDS! All that being said, I will never recommend UHaul to any of my friends or family. I was extremely disappointed in my experience. Also, I want to note that the individual who works at the Bloomfield NJ Uhaul was as helpful as they could be and tried to assist as best as they could.

I think the only issue was the 2 locations that were several blocks apart from where the truck was and where the business was, other than that they were awesome and Curteous! I was charged extra for services i definitely failed to complete on my end but the process was simple to charge me for equipment i forgot to return which is perfectly fine and how business should be! Will definitely use them again in the future and will recommend to others!

Two items: 1) The UHaul app running on my Samsung Galaxy S7 (running Android 8.0.0) did not work. I had to access everything through an Internet browser. 2) Please work on using better key lockboxes for pickup - the one I used would not allow me to lock it after I was done. Many thanks!

Address is incorrect â€" the business is closed with no signs about UHaul and trucks are stored a quarter of a mile away, which we had to walk to. We spent 45 minutes in 30 degree weather trying to figure it out. Lockbox was broken and had to call to arrange another vehicle (the person I spoke to was very helpful).
