The "universal" trailer coupler seems to leave too much play with the hitch ball. Trailer coupler was rattling quite a bit even after loading the trailer properly and triple checking the tightening knob.Michael S.

First of all, the place looked like a chop-shop. Parts scattered everywhere, left out in the open before the store was even open. Second of all, I rented 2 dollies, neither of them were there. Third of all, the rental truck was almost on E, we had to stop and IMMEDIATELY get gas before we even made one trip to the house (I put $25 in it). Fourth of all, THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN AND HAD TO BE TOWED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY!! Fifth of all, the manager of Southbay called and left a rude message on my cell phone wanting to know where his truck was because he had someone there to rent it, 2 hours AFTER I called Southbay to tell them that it was being towed out of my driveway!!!!! Sixth of all they charged me full price after all of that, didn't even offer an apology or a discount! WORST experience EVER with U-Haul!!!Julie H.
Partly their partly corporate fault. I reserved a 4x7 only to find interior dimension was 40 inches. A LONG cry from 4 ft. Trailer I reserved had a broken tail light fixture so I would've had problems. I had to upgrade to get the 4 ft YOU advertised. I returned it a day early, talked to an employee on site, yet I was still billed for the original time frame. Cheezy and unacceptableLARRY L.

Office was in horrible condition. Piles of trash (wires, clothing, etc) were everywhere. It did not look like a office, more like a storeroom. It also smelled of musty cigarettes'. Will not return to this location. However, salesperson was very nice and helpful.THOMAS C.

The lady who initially helped me was very kind. Because of how the chain was installed, she could not get it off. We both tried. She ultimately had to get her manager. He was cranky, cussing, never took his cigarette out of his mouth. I felt bad for the gal who had to work with him.LAURA R.

The check-in and pick up process for vehicles needs to be streamlined. Also, the idea of additional contacts needing to be verified on the spot, is fairly ridiculous. If one of my alternates is in a funeral or a business meeting, why would that person pick up a call from an unknown number? There should be a notification to both myself and the person being called, and the alternate contact verification should occur a day or two before the intended pickup. That way, it wouldn't directly inconvenience and potentially ruin the U-haul pickup. Quite honestly, I am not inclined to use U-haul ever again because I'm not a fan of hassle or confusion. Please have someone in your UX (User Experience) team take some time to think about how to make the customer experience better. The mobile app also needs a makeover, but that's another discussion entirely.Polite S.

The location is perfect, the service impeccable, and the truck was in good condition snd clean. The area around itthough, was somewhat cluttered and if the insulation hadn't been there, I'd never know it was there! Lol. But over all it was great!RALPH W.
The 26@ truck I rented was the worse I ever driven. It seen to me the tire on the front left side had been replaced prior to me taking on this vehicle. My 364 miles in this truck was the worst and unsafe experience I ever encountered. I thought at any given moment that wheel was going to come off! It was so bad I had to adjust the side mirror more than a dozen times because of the bouncing and the alignment of the truck front end and tires!CURTIS W.

At drop they tried to scam me by charging a $25 cleaning although I had personally swept out the truck myself. After arguing my case, and them not being able to provide any documentation, video/photo, of cleaning needed I was able get them to issue a refund.Robert S.
