There was an intermittent electrical problem with the left tail light. It never caused a problem but did worry me a bit. The uhaul app did not work well and added time to my drop off experience. All uhaul employees were pleasant and easy to work with.

The equipment/vehicles have been in good shape and clean. Although there are other options that I could have used for a local move, I would go back to this location due to the people.

Charlie GWaye was AMAZING! I've used U-Haul 2x before and I had a rough time and the persons seemed like they didn't like the job. But Waye was INCREDIBLY NICE. Never experienced patience, smiles and such care related to customer service such as I had the pleasure of experiencing it with Waye. He clearly stays positive and his reassuring voice with calm down anyone. Can't say enough about him.

I booked a 15ft truck + a dolly well over a week in advance then planned my move accordingly, but to my surprise at the counter U-haul had overbooked so no 15ft truck left or dolly. I had to swallow the frustration and disappointment and accepted a 10 ft truck with no dolly available. This alone really took me more trips + time to get my move done, plus added mileage fee. I was promised to receive a $50 credit for the inconvenience but nothing since.

Edward JI don't usually give reviews s but I am compelled to give an excellent customer service review to Mr. Waye D. from U-Haul, the Alameda branch. When you walk in you will immediately be greeted by this gentleman with a huge smile & positive energy. Something I rarely see & experience in any customer service position, especially first thing in the morning. Mr. Waye D. does his best to solve whatever issues you may have regarding rentals. He goes above & beyond to give his customers his best. Jafar Ahmadiansarai
jafar AEmployee who helped us didn't seem to know what he was doing (learned he's worked there 3 months?), and had to ask the guy whose worked there 3 days (Javier?). The equipment wasn't checked in from the day prior, so it looked like our reservation was elsewhere and I heard him ask the other guy if he should send us to another store. Then he went to look and NEVER came back. My husband went to find him and found the worker helping a couple who came way after us, leaving us standing at the counter. Dropping equipment off was equally as chaotic and took way too long. I'll never return to this UHaul location. Meanwhile, the manager (Michelle?) was mindlessly doing busy work never making eye-contact with a single sole in line. Terrible.

Victor CMy invoice said the truck had a full tank of gas, when I got in it it was way below empty. I told the counter person about it, they said oh are trucks get Siphoned. So go put gas in and we will Reimburse you up to a Quarter tank. I wasen't sure if it would make it to the gas station. I did get gas, but this is no way to rent a vehicle.
RICHARD AOverall I had a good experience; however, there was some misunderstanding in regards to returning the truck. They kept calling me and asking that it was overdue while I already dropped the keys and that was way earlier than the due time. Also, they were trying to charge my bank for all those "overtime." So I discussed it with them and they said they'll check on it. It was quite frustrating at first.
RAJEEV BHaving never rented a U-Haul trailer before I didn't know how the return process would be. As soon as I arrived I was greeted and told where to go before leaving my vehicle. They reviewed everything and unhooked the trailer. I was in and out within a few minutes. Great overall experience

Dimitri GThis was by far the best rental truck experience I've ever had. The young woman who received me in the office to conduct the rental agreement was courteous, polite and efficient. I was in and out the door and in my rental truck in ten minutes. Upon returning the truck, the young man who checked the truck back into the fleet was similarly courteous and efficient. He even gave me a small credit back on my rental costs since I returned the truck a day early and with more gas in it than when I left with it. That is customer service! Well done I-Haul The Alameda, San Jose!
Michael MI left my car for two nights after I rented a Uhaul and it was broken into both nights. Uhaul never called me about the incidents even though I called them one day in order for me to extend my return date. Uhaul even refused to allow police officers the video so the could investigate it.

Saria LI have rented a 6X12 trailer from this location a couple times. I am always very pleased with the efficiciency, cooperative nests and friendliness of the staff.
JOHN YThe wait time was long to rent the truck even though very few customers were there. The customer parking was completely blocked by a huge truck so I parked with the rental vans, then later I had to re-park my car in the street since customer parking still blocked a half hour later. Then the van I rented was blocked in by two other vans so I had to go back and wait in line for help. I really appreciated that one of your staff changed the van I rented to another one that wasn't blocked, however, this process still took extra time.
Laurene JPicking up the trailer and dropping it off with a very efficient. Equipment was in good working condition and provided an excellent service for me. I was able to return it first thing the next morning for no additional charge.
STEVEN TVan I rented had an empty gas tank rather than half full. Your app is totally useless. Heaven help me if I needed roadside service. Once at the counter I had to scan my license and send it by web to the clown sitting at the counter! Long lines. Yet another consumer nightmare.
Donald AGas was lower than stated however, representative made adjustments and credited me he was also respectful and courteous. Just an FYI make sure to check gas gauge and miles are accurate as noted. I have been coming to Alameda Uhaul for 10 years always good service.

Mark JUnfortunately I rented a truck that had a bad alternator and kept turning off 5 times while driving on the freeway jumped started was time. and waited not once but twice for 2 different roadside assistance for a total of 7 hours. I'll never rent from uhaul again.

gregory sI showed up to rent a truck was told the truck was at half tank I got in and the truck had no gas zero miles to empty, I did take a picture. I went back inside and the man told me all the trucks were on empty because people steal gas and to bring it back on E . I did and he put I didn't fill the gas back up ( knowing he rented it to me empty ) . I was charged $150 extra for gas fees . Be careful going to this location it seems like they do this often, I need to know dispute this charge and get refunded my money .

Michael VI was explicitly told by a rep there that I would be paid 7$ per gallon if I filled gas and brought back up to quarter tank. But I only received 27,5$ which doesn't even cover half of my gas charges. I was misinformed and it was not a good experience.
SAIRAM CThe person who helped me with my rental was rude and unhelpful. He did not provide instructions or information of the rental process. I had to ask every thing about the process of renting and operating the vehicle. He answered in a rude manner with poor communication. He did not even show us where the van was. We had to find it and figure out how to operate it. I didn't know we had to return it with the same amount of gas that it had. Extremely frustrating experience to say the least.

Ron GAfter hours there may be limited parking due to customers not thinking strategically or considerate of other individuals dropping off cars. There's also quite a few dark areas in this parking lot. I had a 4:30am 24/7 pick-up scheduled and it was dark. I took an Uber to pick up the truck as I only live a mile away, I had a push cart with content inside an a storage bin on top of the cart. When I made the booking I was told to download the mobile app at it was necessary to do the 24/7 pick up as I could NOT do it online. When I tried to pickup check out the car via the mobile app, I ran into difficulty when it asked for me to take a selfie, when I press on the + sign nothing happened and I tried over and over again and nothing worked. The truck was parked in a dark area and I initially walked right up to the truck to check in because I did'nt think it would take that long. As I was trying to figure out why the app wasn't enabling me to take the selfie, trying over and over again, I could here footsteps getting closer and closer for the 1 to 3 minutes I kept restarting the process over again. As the footsteps grew closer I got scared and walked closer to entrance that was more well lit but still heard footsteps. I was terrified because the area has it's share of those with mental health or housing insecurity, so I called a friend and put her on speaker while I tried to figure things out. Eventually I called customer service and the rep asked/told me to do the procedure on the web as if I should have know better, but I didnt try the web becuase it was re-iterated to me multiple times as well as on signage that the mobile app was required for 24/7 checkout. Anyhow, after loggin in on the web I was able to complete the checkout, but then had to wait on approval before I could get the code. The approval took 5-10 to process while I was standing in the dark. While I was waiting a homeless person appeared from in between several parked vans so I walked to the main street. It took me 15/20 to check out the vehicle when really it should have taken no more than 5. The app was up to date, so I think you need to look into this issue. Secondly, if uhaul staff are telling customers that 24/7 ONLY works on the app, when in fact the web version works as well, they need to give people options. After customer service suggested using the web version and it worked, I simply was waiting for the "approval" and it was taking sometime, the lady wanted to get off the phone, but I asked her to stay online until approval because it was scary, she didnt want to wait online with me, so I was out there alone for 3-5 minutes waiting for the approval to happen.
Natalie GNice large parking lot and the worker asked me what I needed while working with another customer and I just had to drop off the key and was out which was so simple and easy.
Hillary BThis location only does in person pickup, defeating the purpose of 24/7 moving option. We scheduled a pick up before the office was open (thinking we would do the mobile 24/7 pickup), but had to wait an hour and a half for the store to open to dispatch our truck. The mobile 24/7 app should not allow customers to participate with this location.

Alea WOffer insurance if u need to park vehicle over night or ge a gated area to keep customers vehicle. Oh and don't give uhaul truck keys to people that are not on the customer agreement.

Sandy GIf you want to reserve equipment that won't be there, then be charged for over a hundred dollars of gas that was in the vehicle when you returned it, this is the place for you. If you want to be completely ignored when you ask about, you will love it here.
VICTORIA RThis rental was for a one-way trip (400 miles). I was given a van that had an engine check light on, and when I asked the service techs about it, they stated that it is fine and the light will continue to come on every couple hundred miles. They cleared the OBD2 reader. Unfortunately, this code should have been checked because it was for an unusual loss of pressure in the gas tank. The gas line hose had been completely severed/cut. When I tried to refuel, gas spilled everywhere. I had to call roadside assistance to come fix the hose, and when the mechanic checked the check engine code, it was for the exact problem (EVAP system pressure leak). If the van was properly maintained and inspected, I would not have had this problem. The negligence by Uhaul is incredible. I would like to be contacted by Uhaul to discuss this experience.
Sarah YGot overcharged. Originally offered trailer was not on a lot. Assistant offered to get a different trailer, but didn't tell me anything about price difference. $5 is not a big deal, but left a bad taste in my mouth since I was not informed in any way.

JUSTIN IU-Haul over all terrible experience. I ordered everything online, truck, and moving supplies. Had to go to two different locations to get both. Then was hassled via text messages and phone calls to tow a trailer for them. Then was called day prior to pickup and told I would have to go to other location further away. Very unprofessional! Zero customer service! Pickup location specifically: 1.Hire staff that is not rude! 2. Have the truck with a full tank of gas. Less than a half tank is ridiculous. 3. Didn't explain that their was a cap on the mileage..
Jonathan SDo not require use of the app. It would not load onto my phone, and I choose not to use my phone for business transactions anyway. I dumped the contract and keys in the slot upon drop-off after closing time and there was no problem. Yet staff made it sound like the app was my only option. That is waaaay too much work. I'll check my options at a competitor next time I need to rent a truck.
