gloria lawrenceAt 6:30AM, I parked my U-Haul truck on Uhaul property (safely in the customer parking area) while I moved my personal car and came back to make the staff aware of my rental truck 3 hours later (9:30.) That's when I found that the staff had opened up the back (in the rain...wetting the cargo area.) I immediately closed the door. The cabin was still locked, as I was NOT yet returning it & still had the keys. They made me park it at the Krystal restaurant next door while I returned to work in my private car until I could pick up the Uhaul truck, to load & unload it once more before officially returning it. That's when I realized that the stepstool I kept in back of the truck (to help with the steep climb into the back of the truck) was stolen - likely by U-Haul staff! When I asked about it, nobody claimed to know anything about it at all. I'd hoped by the time I actually did turn the truck back in, that the culprit would've at least returned it but that did not happen. My comment about the truck's maintenance was because the check engine light was on when I picked it up yet they were already aware of it. It remained on the whole time I had it otherwise it was in much better shape than the crappy van they'd tried to rent to me for the 2nd time (even after I'd complained about from my previous rental. The rubber matting In the cargo area was shredded & would fray with each pass of a box along it! When I tried (2ce at 2 different gas stations) it poured out of the tank mouth onto the ground even tho gas guage read less than ¼ full! (I am grateful that I wasn't fined for the fuel replenishment!) But when i tried to rent a different van, I was told if I refused that van, there'd be no alternative of getting any other of the 6 that were rentable due to sequence lineup! ("It MUST rent out before any other can be rented!" Which sounds like horse manure to me!)

albert valeteI was very pleased that I was able to secure a last minute reservation. The online experience and pickup was great. What concerned me was there was a sheriff there investigating a truck theft, that I guess is incredibly common. Having worked in technical surveillance I'm familiar with vehicle acquisition and tagging, tracking, and locating assets in a non-permissive environment. It seems like U-Haul could be doing more to prevent and deter theft of their vehicles and equipment. I know ultimately the paying customers are covering the costs of these losses.

Amber BilesIt stated the gas was on a full tank, but it was a little under a full tank, but I was expected to return it with a full tank. I did fill the tank up, but should not have had to put as much gas as I had to put in it, only driving the truck a few miles. Hopefully, the person who inspects the truck next time will catch this, because that is just another charge that the customer has to incur, when the previous person and whomever inspects it, does not leave it in the same condition that it was rented to them in. Just be honorable.

Lanedra JonesTold employees I would need it for more than 3 days .. they recommended if I bring it back Tuesday they'll help me out on amount to be paid so I tried to have it back by then but it was a no go ..Wednesday day come they called .. we stated that we needed to extend the time. Thursday they call ..to say they reported the truck stolen either Thursday or wednesday. They called friday after we stated it'll be back by the end of the week to only tell us if it's not back by Friday morning they gonna submit some sort of report. They won't work with you and obviously try to mess up your life, to say the vehicle is stolen.

The key cards do not work so it is not convenient to get locked in the gate or have to go during business hours to get in for our belongings. You should also have a pin code available which I was never given. I'm not sure why they have 24 hours on the building when it is not open 24 hours. The hours are 7 am to 8 pm.

I called twice for an extension and he threatened me if I didn't return the truck and refused to extend it. My wife called the 1800 number to get it extended. But he called and was threatening me on the 9/14 when I had reservations until 9/15 to return the truck or he would call the cops and report it stolen. All I was doing is trying to move. Because of his actions I definitely would never recommend U-Haul. Worst experience I've ever seen in my life.

When I asked for a supervisor (more than once) they said "there wasn't one". My unit was robbed and the employees acted unconcerned. I was told "Ok" and the police were called. She then said they'd meet me by the locker. That was it. I then walked to the unit. Poor, poor customer service. I won't use them again or recommend them to anyone!!!

The other representatives, particularly the women at the desk, had bad attitudes, did not provide customer service in a timely fashion, and failed to address the needs of customers. This was my personal experience and the experience I observed other customers undergo. Additionally, the reps do not respond to the phone and often put customers on hold when they call in and never get back to them. I found this out when I called then saw this action when I went in store. Poor customer service is not worth the trip to this location.

Believe me coming from a sales manager for a fortune 500 company of many years you should be very proud to have these two gentleman represent your company. I also dealt with a lady on the phone who was very nice and a third gentleman the day I dropped of my rental and they were very pleasant.
Danny Campo | Premières impressionsIt was difficult to communicate with the staff at 3363 Wrightsboro Rd, Augusta, GA 30909 location. I was constantly threatened over the phone live and via voicemail and in person about how I was stealing the truck and the police were notified by the agent at the store, who is no longer working there. The person who arranged my rental before her convenient departure said her cell phone was turned off for weeks thus I could not inform her continuously. I also had sent an email but received no reply to that either. She misinformed me and my truck was taken back by the new staff without my knowledge. Now I have no possessions which were put into storage without my knowledge or my permission. I owe money for holding to the truck for too long while I have no personal property except the clothes on my back. A few days ago, I visited the store to find out what happened to the truck. The property that I parked the truck on and the police had no information. Sharon Gresham was allegedly not working that day but was giving instructions to her employee to relate to me. She was not willing to work with me yet I was told that if I told the store what was going on they could have helped. I called customer service and their reaction was the same. Everyone claimed it was not their choice but that UHAUL demanded it that it should be handled this way. I told the store staff everything from day 1 including where the truck was and that I was waiting to move into my unit but the complex I am moving into had an ownership change so it took longer than expected. The tenant in the unit I will move into was evicted and it added 30 additional days for the vacancy and a few weeks more for the repairs. I was accused of abandoning the truck but I did not do any such thing since my entire household was in it. It was a series of manipulative transactions which could have been prevented but nobody offered me any help and I will never recommend UHAUL to anyone.
